AS DUAS TESTEMUNHAS
Apocalipse 12-14
Como prometi na meditação anterior, hoje vou comentar a leitura de ontem. E quero falar sobre as duas testemunhas de Apocalipse 11: O Antigo Testamento e o Novo Testamento. Que semelhança há entre o Velho e o Novo testamentos? Leandro Quadros explica-nos que, “para termos uma resposta concreta e bíblica para essa pergunta, precisamos levar em conta algumas coisas”:
1)A Bíblia que Jesus possuía continha apenas os livros do Antigo Testamento. Os evangelhos e cartas do Novo Testamento vieram a existir bem depois, quando a igreja cristã (após Cristo ter subido ao Céu) reuniu os escritos dos apóstolos para preservá-los. Portanto, quando Jesus diz em João 5:39 para examinarmos as Escrituras, Ele está dizendo: estudem o Velho Testamento, que era, de acordo com Phillip Yancey, “a Bíblia que Jesus lia”!
2) A Bíblia que os apóstolos tinham era o Antigo Testamento. Quando Paulo disse para “pregarmos a Palavra” (2 Timóteo 4:2), ele estava se referindo a todos os escritos dos profetas antigos.
3) Jesus disse que não acreditar nos escritos de Moisés seria o mesmo que não acreditar nEle! Veja: “Se vocês cressem em Moisés, creriam em mim, pois ele escreveu a meu respeito. Visto, porém, que não crêem no que ele escreveu, como crerão no que eu digo?” “João 5:46, 47”.
Portanto, dizer que o Antigo Testamento foi abolido (refiro-me ao feixe de livros) é uma heresia que deve ser rejeitada e combatida por todo cristão que ama a Palavra de Deus.
Que parte da Bíblia Jesus usava para explicar o evangelho?
O Velho e o Novo Testamento são uma coisa só. Não foi Deus quem criou a divisão dos livros da Bíblia em “Velho” e “Novo”, e sim os homens. Não que isso seja errado, pois serve para separamos “nominalmente” os livros, para fins didáticos (até facilita a procura dos textos); mas, não devemos separar os escritos do Antigo e Novo Testamento em nível de doutrinas, ensinos e validade, pois tudo veio do mesmo Deus.
O Novo Testamento não foi escrito para abolir o Velho Testamento, mas para confirmá-lo e completá-lo. Tanto que o Novo Testamento faz aproximadamente cerca de 637 referências ao Velho Testamento!
Os nomes “Novo” e “Velho” Testamento, que identificam e divisão das duas partes da Bíblia, vieram a existir posteriormente. O Novo Testamento recebeu tal identificação no ano 200 d.C e o Velho, em 326 d.C.
Portanto, para Deus não há divisão da Bíblia. Todos os livros da Bíblia, sejam do Antigo ou do Novo Testamento, foram criados por Deus e são úteis para nos guiar no caminho da salvação (2Pedro 1:21 e 2Timóteo 3:16)
A Bíblia é uma só!
