Urijah the priest built an altar: according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so did Urijah the priest make it against the coming of king Ahaz from Damascus.

When the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king drew near to the altar, and offered thereon.

He burnt his burnt offering and his meal offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, on the altar.

The bronze altar, which was before Yahweh, he brought from the forefront of the house, from between his altar and the house of Yahweh, and put it on the north side of his altar.

"King Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, "On the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meal offering, and the king's burnt offering, and his meal offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meal offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle on it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice; but the bronze altar shall be for me to inquire by."

King Ahaz cut off the panels of the bases, and removed the basin from off them, and took down the sea from off the bronze oxen that were under it, and put it on a pavement of stone.

The covered way for the Sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry outside, turned he to the house of Yahweh, because of the king of Assyria.

Hoje você começa a estudar o livro de Ezequiel. Serão duas semanas inteiras, lendo somente este livro. Portanto, uma introdução ao mesmo é oportuna. E para a mesma, conto aqui com uma ajuda externa, através de uma palavra orientadora e introdutória do professor de teologia Siegfried J. Schwantes, quanto ao livro de Ezequiel. Boa leitura.
O livro de Ezequiel está cheio de visões e profecias reveladas pelo Senhor a Seu profeta. E de acordo com o Ph.D. que citei no parágrafo acima, ainda que estas revelações foram dadas ao povo de Deus durante o cativeiro babilônico, muitas ainda estão por se cumprir.
No livro de Ezequiel encontram-se alertas de castigo por práticas pecaminosas e obstinadas, todavia há gloriosas promessas de encorajamento para aqueles que procuram honrar a Deus mesmo no meio de pesadas provações.
De maneira geral os estudantes da Bíblia ficam perplexos com as visões de difícil compreensão apresentadas por este profeta e falham em perceber a mensagem central de Deus de que Ele é o Senhor. Porém, para o estudioso aplicado este livro não oferecerá nenhuma dificuldade se fizer uma comparação cuidadosa de texto com texto das Sagradas Escrituras, preservando-se das interpretações particulares que não se harmonizam com o todo da Palavra de Deus.
Logo, você já percebeu que é necessário, mais do que ler Ezequiel, estudar este livro. Procure, de maneira agradável, como um dedicado estudante do Livro Sagrado, a compreender a verdade e as argumentações básicas das visões deste profeta, bem como suas profecias simbólicas. Você pode, além de estudar segundo o nosso plano de leitura diária, estudar o livro por seções, para que, em cada uma delas, consiga captar a idéia central e analisar os temas maiores, tratando igualmente de vários problemas que vão se apresentando. Como?
Quer entender Ezequiel? Em primeiro lugar, pedindo ao Espírito Santo que ilumine a sua mente, através da oração e meditação, cada vez que for estudar. Somada a isto, vem a necessidade de não fazer uma leitura superficial, mas profunda, talvez relendo várias vezes, e fazendo anotações. A fazer as releituras, use diferentes versões da tradução bíblica, e compare-as. Para encontrar uma divisão correta das seções, oriente-se através dos títulos e subtítulos da Nova Versão Internacional. Acompanhe o nosso comentário diário deste plano de leitura da Bíblia. Procure em alguma biblioteca, site ou livraria, livros que comentem o livro de Ezequiel, e leia-os. E por fim, leia o livro “Profetas e Reis”, da Casa Publicadora Brasileira.
