When the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.

|Esdras 3:2|
Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brothers the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brothers, and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.

|Esdras 3:3|
"They set the altar on its base; for fear was on them because of the peoples of the countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon to Yahweh, even burnt offerings morning and evening."

"They kept the feast of tents, as it is written, and [offered] the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the ordinance, as the duty of every day required;"

and afterward the continual burnt offering, and [the offerings] of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of Yahweh that were consecrated, and of everyone who willingly offered a freewill offering to Yahweh.

From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh: but the foundation of the temple of Yahweh was not yet laid.

"They gave money also to the masons, and to the carpenters; and food, and drink, and oil, to them of Sidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea, to Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia."

Now in the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the rest of their brothers the priests and the Levites, and all those who were come out of the captivity to Jerusalem, and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to have the oversight of the work of the house of Yahweh.

Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brothers, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to have the oversight of the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brothers the Levites.

When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of Yahweh, they set the priests in their clothing with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise Yahweh, after the order of David king of Israel.

LOBOS CRUÉIS
Atos 19-21
“Gostaria de lhes contar”, disse um vovô a dois netos que mostravam ter alguma dúvida quanto às providências de Deus, “gostaria de lhes contar o que me aconteceu quando tinha dez anos”.
Certa noite, tendo de ausentar-se os pais, ficaram ele, uma irmãzinha e um irmão em casa sozinhos. Quando estavam para adormecer, ouviram um som estranho. Erguendo-se, viram dois olhos brilhantes de um lobo, junto à porta, que os meninos haviam esquecido de fechar. O lobo caminhou através da sala, em direção ao berço onde dormia a pequena. Os meninos ficaram aterrados, mas o lobo olhou para a menina, voltou para junto da porta e soltou um longo uivo. Era o sinal para chamar os outros lobos.
Os meninos trataram de fechar bem a porta. Daí a pouco, de todas as direções, começaram a vir lobos, e dentro em breve, cercavam a casa, e alguns saltaram para o telhado, e começaram a arranhar a escassa madeira, conseguindo fazer uma abertura, através da qual os meninos, apavorados, viram a silhueta das feras esfaimadas, prontas a saltar para dentro da casa. Nesse momento ouviram-se os tiros lá de fora, ao mesmo tempo que o pai do dos meninos se precipitava para dentro de casa, em tempo de matar, com um tiro certeiro, um dos lobos, que penetrara pelo buraco feito.
Tendo ouvido o uivo dos lobos, quando estes começaram a subir ao telhado da casinha, haviam acorrido vizinhos e deles partiram os primeiros tiros, matando a afugentando os lobos que ainda estavam no telhado. E a fera que estava para apanhar o nenê que dormia tranqüilo no berço, foi prostrada, no momento preciso, pela bala do pai, ao entrar.
Os pais dos meninos tinham ido visitar uma família cujo chefe havia falecido, e demoraram porque se incumbiram dos preparativos para o sepultamento, naquela região afastada, no tempo da colonização dos Estados Unidos.
“Um inimigo ainda mais mortal, o diabo, anda ao redor, buscando as portas não aferrolhadas, no seu e no meu coração”, disse aquele vovô. “Se esquecemos nosso dever ou somos desobedientes, ele pode entrar, e o resultado será morte eterna”.
“Cuidem de vocês mesmos e de todo o rebanho sobre o qual o Espírito Santo os colocou como para pastorearem a igreja de Deus, que ele comprou com o seu sangue. Sei que, depois da minha partida, lobos ferozes penetrarão no meio de vocês e não pouparão o rebanho. E dentre vocês mesmos se levantarão homens que torcerão a verdade, a fim de atrair os discípulos. Por isso, vigiem! (Está na leitura bíblica de hoje!)”.
