When the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.

|Esdras 3:2|
Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brothers the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brothers, and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.

"They set the altar on its base; for fear was on them because of the peoples of the countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon to Yahweh, even burnt offerings morning and evening."

"They kept the feast of tents, as it is written, and [offered] the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the ordinance, as the duty of every day required;"

and afterward the continual burnt offering, and [the offerings] of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of Yahweh that were consecrated, and of everyone who willingly offered a freewill offering to Yahweh.

From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh: but the foundation of the temple of Yahweh was not yet laid.

"They gave money also to the masons, and to the carpenters; and food, and drink, and oil, to them of Sidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea, to Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia."

Now in the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the rest of their brothers the priests and the Levites, and all those who were come out of the captivity to Jerusalem, and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to have the oversight of the work of the house of Yahweh.

Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brothers, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to have the oversight of the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brothers the Levites.

When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of Yahweh, they set the priests in their clothing with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise Yahweh, after the order of David king of Israel.

Êxodo 21-23
Quanta lei encontramos na leitura de hoje! Têm as leis acerca dos escravos hebreus, leis acerca da violência e dos acidentes, leis acerca da proteção de propriedade, leis acerca das responsabilidades sociais, leis acerca do exercício da justiça, leis acerca do sábado e as leis acerca das grandes festas anuais. Na história da humanidade, sempre foi assim. Em qualquer comunidade que você conviver, encontrará regras estabelecidas para ser cumpridas. Isso se choca com uma tendência que temos: a de não gostar de regras. E é daí que vem o questionamento: “O mundo não seria melhor se não houvesse as leis? Onde fica a nossa liberdade?”
Essa é uma pergunta de muitos. Para respondê-la, usarei, nos comentários de hoje e de amanhã, os argumentos apresentados por Rodrigo P. Silva, em seu livro “Abrindo o Jogo”, da Casa Publicadora Brasileira.
O Dr. Silva explica que na palavra “liberdade” reside o grande anseio humano de todos os tempos. Todos queremos ser livres. Tal palavra tornou-se o jargão principal dos novos tempos. O que acontece, porém, é que no vocabulário popular, “liberdade” tornou-se, aos poucos, antônimo de palavras como “lei” e “regulamento”. A idéia defendida é de que quanto menos restrições tivermos, mais livres e felizes seremos, pois onde há regras não há liberdade. Não é à toa que o sexo irresponsável é comumente chamado de “amor livre”.
De modo geral, as pessoas, inconscientemente influenciadas por essa filosofia de “liberdade versus leis” acabam tendo uma atitude sempre pejorativa em face dos deveres diários. Aí entram em cena alguns “liberais”, descrevendo o que para eles seria um verdadeiro paraíso na Terra. Na verdade, as idéias de liberalismo não são mera filosofia própria de alguns adolescentes fantasiosos. Muita gente mais “adulta” já tentou argumentar racionalmente que os fins justificam os meios. Mas como se vê, a falta de regras poderia parecer o paraíso, mas, na verdade, seria um inferno vivo, um caos.
Essa imaginação de um mundo sem leis poderia se chamar “utopia”. Em outras palavras, nenhum lugar funcionaria sem leis. Veja então como é incoerente o conceito de liberdade que muitas pessoas possuem. Na verdade, o que os liberais querem é que as vontades deles próprios sejam cumpridas e que o resto do mundo lhes seja escravo. Não é o fim das leis que estão pregando, mas a ascensão do egocentrismo. Eles querem o mundo girando em torno de si e se iludem pensando que isso é possível e normal.
Veja como aquelas leis eram úteis para os israelitas. Quanto a você e eu, tiremos das leis de Êxodo 21-23, as lições para a realidade das leis que atualmente nos cercam.
