So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinim, lived in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.

When the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.

Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brothers the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brothers, and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.

"They set the altar on its base; for fear was on them because of the peoples of the countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon to Yahweh, even burnt offerings morning and evening."

"They kept the feast of tents, as it is written, and [offered] the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the ordinance, as the duty of every day required;"

and afterward the continual burnt offering, and [the offerings] of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of Yahweh that were consecrated, and of everyone who willingly offered a freewill offering to Yahweh.

From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings to Yahweh: but the foundation of the temple of Yahweh was not yet laid.

"They gave money also to the masons, and to the carpenters; and food, and drink, and oil, to them of Sidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea, to Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia."

Now in the second year of their coming to the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the rest of their brothers the priests and the Levites, and all those who were come out of the captivity to Jerusalem, and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to have the oversight of the work of the house of Yahweh.

Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brothers, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to have the oversight of the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brothers the Levites.

“JESUS CHOROU”?

Muitas vezes já vi cristãos escaparem pela culatra de João 11:35, ao serem intimados a declamar um versículo bíblico. Por não saberem nada melhor, maior ou mais especial, no susto, dizem: “Jesus chorou”. E se alguém reclamar, ainda poderão dizer: “Mas é um verso bíblico!”. E num contexto assim vemos o questionamento paradoxal que confronta a simplicidade com a seriedade deste versículo.
Seriedade? Sim! Veja a pergunta que surge na cabeça de muitos, ao lerem-no: “Por quem Jesus chorou? Por Lázaro ou por si mesmo?”. O verso 33 trinta e três começa a explicar, e os comentários bíblicos “SDABC” e “O Desejado de Todas as Nações” pegando esta ponta de corda, nos elucidam mais sobre o assunto. E, teologicamente, a conclusão é que “em Sua humanidade, Jesus foi comovido pela dor humana e chorou com os aflitos”. Mas, por trás desta afirmação, há muito significado.
Foi uma cena dolorosa. Lázaro fora muito amado, e suas irmãs choravam por ele, com o coração despedaçado. Os amigos uniam-se ao coro, chorando juntos. Em face dessa aflição humana, dentre muitos amigos consternados pranteando o morto, “Jesus chorou”. Se bem que fosse o Filho de Deus, revestira-Se, no entanto, da natureza humana e comoveu-Se com sua dor.
Seu coração está sempre pronto a compadecer-se perante o sofrimento. Chora com os que choram, e alegra-se com os que alegram-se. Não foi, porém, simplesmente pela simpatia humana para com Maria e Marta, que Jesus chorou. Havia, em Suas lágrimas, uma dor tão acima da simples mágoa humana, como o Céu se acha acima da terra. Cristo não chorou por Lázaro, pois estava para chamá-lo do sepulcro. Chorou por aqueles muitos que ora pranteavam a Lázaro mas, em breve, tramariam a morte dAquele que era a ressurreição e a vida.
O juízo que estava para cair sobre Jerusalém estava delineado perante a visão futurística de Jesus. Ele contemplou Jerusalém cercada pelas legiões romanas. Viu que muitos dos que agora choravam por Lázaro morreriam no cerco da cidade e não haveria esperança em sua morte.
Não foi somente pela cena que se desenrolava a Seus olhos, que Cristo chorou. Pesava sobre Ele a “dor dos séculos” Lançando o olhar através dos séculos por vir, viu o sofrimento, a dor, as lágrimas e a morte que caberia em sorte aos homens. Seu coração pungiu-se por sentir pena da família humana de todos os tempos e em todas as terras. Pesavam-lhe, fortemente, sobre a alma, as misérias da raça pecadora
Foi assim, que a fonte das lágrimas se lhe rompeu. Jesus em um anelo tão profundo em aliviar todas as dores dos humanos, ao ponto de chorar.
