The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, when king Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Malchijah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, saying,

"Please inquire of Yahweh for us; for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us: perhaps Yahweh will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us."

Then Jeremiah said to them, You shall tell Zedekiah:

"Thus says Yahweh, the God of Israel, Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you fight against the king of Babylon, and against the Chaldeans who besiege you, without the walls; and I will gather them into the midst of this city."

I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation.

I will strike the inhabitants of this city, both man and animal: they shall die of a great pestilence.

"Afterward, says Yahweh, I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, and his servants, and the people, even such as are left in this city from the pestilence, from the sword, and from the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those who seek their life: and he shall strike them with the edge of the sword; he shall not spare them, neither have pity, nor have mercy."

"He who remains in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; but he who goes out, and passes over to the Chaldeans who besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be to him for a prey."

For I have set my face on this city for evil, and not for good, says Yahweh: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.

Números 12-14
A nossa leitura de hoje cobre três capÃtulos bÃblicos, no livro de Números. Os capÃtulos 12 e 14 apresentam uma narrativa histórica gostosa de ler e fácil de entender. Já o capÃtulo 13, ao falar sobre a missão do reconhecimento de Canaã, traz uma série de nomes de pessoas que, a princÃpio, pode parecer insignificante de ser lida aos olhos do leitor. Não caia nesse equÃvoco! É muito importante, sim, conhecer esses nomes próprios. Veja um dos porquês, apresentado em três partes.

Segunda parte - Depois de ler em sua BÃblia os três capÃtulos propostos para hoje, agora que você já conhece os significados dos nomes que aparecem na leitura, copie o trecho do texto bÃblico onde aparecem esses nomes, substituindo o nome pelo significado. Ou seja, faça uma releitura a partir da definição do que representa cada um desses nomes.
Terceira parte - Perceba como os significados dos nomes estão relacionados com o contexto geral da leitura bÃblica de hoje. Isso não faz com que você tenha outra percepção bem mais ampla do texto da Palavra de Deus? É realmente muito bom descobrirmos coisas novas, não é mesmo? Diante desse novo sabor no qual o texto bÃblico apresentou-se para você, que lições você aprendeu? Que lições podemos tirar quando conhecemos os significados dos nomes bÃblicos? Porque, para eles, os donos dos nomes, esses significados eram muito importantes.
A leitura bÃblica sempre pode ser interessante se estivermos realmente interessados nela. A BÃblia sempre tem algo precioso a nos ensinar. A lição que tiro dessa leitura e do que tratamos nesse comentário é que se você se posicionou como um leitor, hoje você cresceu. Desejo que esse poder que a Palavra traz continue sempre atuando na sua vida cada vez mais.
