|Jeremias 40:6|
Then went Jeremiah to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah, and lived with him among the people who were left in the land.

"Now when all the captains of the forces who were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed to him men, and women, and children, and of the poorest of the land, of those who were not carried away captive to Babylon;"

|Jeremias 40:8|
then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, [to wit], Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan swore to them and to their men, saying, Don't be afraid to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who shall come to us: but you, gather wine and summer fruits and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that you have taken.

"Likewise when all the Jews who were in Moab, and among the children of Ammon, and in Edom, and who were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan;"

then all the Jews returned out of all places where they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, to Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.

Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces who were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,

and said to him, Do you know that Baalis the king of the children of Ammon has sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to take your life? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam didn't believe them.

Then Johanan the son of Kareah spoke to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Please let me go, and I will kill Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: why should he take your life, that all the Jews who are gathered to you should be scattered, and the remnant of Judah perish?

Efésios 01-03
Paulo fazia de tudo para o bem estar daquelas pessoas que ele levava a Cristo. Quando todos os recursos acabavam, ele dava então o melhor por aquelas pessoas: orava por elas. A oração intercessória tem um poder incrível. De acordo com o pastor Mark Finley, quatro coisas acontecem quando alguém ora em favor de outra pessoa.
1)A oração permite que Deus fale sobre os pecados em nossa vida que nos impedem de sermos ganhadores de almas, bem-sucedidos. Com muita freqüência, quando você e eu oramos pelos outros, Jesus impressiona nosso coração com a necessidade de um relacionamento mais íntimo com Ele. Na atmosfera da oração, a conquista de almas é o apoio através do qual Jesus repreende o pecado de nossa vida. Nós dizemos: “Oh, Senhor, jamais vi a mim mesmo desse modo antes. Se é assim que sou realmente, se minha amargura, meus ciúmes, meu orgulho estão se interpondo entre mim e Ti, oh, Senhor, remove tudo isso, de modo que Tu possas operar por meu intermédio para conquistar aquela alma.” É na oração que Jesus nos revela as atitudes que impedem Seu trabalho através de nós.
2)A oração intensifica nosso desejo de obter a graça desejada. Um dos motivos pelos quais Jesus não atende imediatamente ao nosso pedido é porque Ele deseja que tenhamos uma harmonia tão próxima com Ele que trabalhemos com mais empenho pela salvação de determinada alma. Quanto mais oramos pela salvação de alguém mais a desejamos e quanto mais a desejamos, procuraremos mais oportunidades criativas para alcançar aquela pessoa.
3)A oração nos coloca em contato com a sabedoria divina. O Único que é verdadeiramente sábio para conquistar almas é Deus. Ele revela as palavras certas para dizer aos homens e às mulheres. Com essa sabedoria, podemos conhecer as chaves certas para abrir as portas. É a sabedoria de Cristo que nos faz escolher a chave certa para abrir determinado tipo de coração a fim de que receba os tesouros do evangelho.
4)A oração dá a Deus oportunidade de operar mais poderosamente do que não oramos. Não está Deus fazendo tudo o que pode para salvar uma pessoa antes de orarmos? Sim, mas quando oramos como Paulo, damos a Deus a oportunidade de fazer mais do que Ele havia feito antes. Deus escolheu voluntariamente limitar-Se na grande controvérsia entre o bem e o mal para não interferir na vontade humana. Quando uma pessoa ora por outra, damos a Deus a oportunidade de operar mais decisivamente nas mentes do que Ele o faria de outro modo.
