Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he was ruling in Jerusalem for twenty-nine years; his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but his heart was not completely true to the Lord.

Now when he became strong in the kingdom, he put to death those men who had taken the life of the king his father.

But he did not put their children to death, for he kept the orders of the Lord recorded in the book of the law of Moses, saying, The fathers are not to be put to death for their children or the children for their fathers, but a man is to be put to death for the sin which he himself has done.

Then Amaziah got all Judah together and put them in order by their families, even all Judah and Benjamin, under captains of thousands and captains of hundreds: and he had those of twenty years old and over numbered, and they came to three hundred thousand of the best fighting-men, trained for war and in the use of the spear and the body-cover.

And for a hundred talents of silver, he got a hundred thousand fighting-men from Israel.

But a man of God came to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with you; for the Lord is not with Israel, that is, the children of Ephraim.

But go yourself, and be strong in war; God will not let you go down before those who are fighting against you; for God has power to give help or to send you down before your attackers.

Then Amaziah said to the man of God, But what is to be done about the hundred talents which I have given for the armed band of Israel? And the man of God in answer said, God is able to give you much more than this.

So Amaziah, separating the armed band which had come to him from Ephraim, sent them back again; which made them very angry with Judah, and they went back burning with wrath.

ESSE É LINDO!
SALMOS 145-150
Ao abrir minha Bíblia na leitura de hoje, encontrei, ao lado do Salmo 145, uma marcação em vermelho escrita: “Lindo!” Como fazia muito tempo que não lia esse salmo, nem lembro quando essa marcação foi feita. Se existe um texto que compensa ser marcado na Bíblia, é esse salmo.
Quero fazer algo diferente hoje. Geralmente, sempre faço o comentário do texto bíblico do dia, mas não o leio. Mas como o Salmo 145 é tão lindo, peço-lhe permissão para escrevê-lo abaixo.
Hoje, nossa celebração é terminar a leitura do livro dos Salmos. É uma leitura gostosa, pra cima, como música de festa. E na introdução dessa comemoração, vem aqui “Um cântico de louvor. Davídico.
Eu te exaltarei, meu Deus e meu rei; bendirei o teu nome para todo o sempre! Todos os dias te bendirei e louvarei o teu nome para todo o sempre! Grande é o SENHOR e digno de ser louvado; sua grandeza não tem limites.
Uma geração contará à outra a grandiosidade dos teus feitos; eles anunciarão os teus atos poderosos. Proclamarão o glorioso esplendor da tua majestade, e meditarei nas maravilhas que fazes. Anunciarão o poder dos teus feitos temíveis, e eu falarei das tuas grandes obras. Comemorarão a tua imensa bondade e celebrarão a tua justiça.
O SENHOR é misericordioso e compassivo, paciente e transbordante de amor. O SENHOR é bom para todos; a sua compaixão alcança todas as suas criaturas. Rendam-te graças todas as tuas criaturas, SENHOR, e os teus fiéis te bendigam. Eles anunciarão a glória do teu reino e falarão do teu poder, para que todos saibam dos teus feitos poderosos e do glorioso esplendor do teu reino. O teu reino é reino eterno, e o teu domínio permanece de geração em geração.
O SENHOR é fiel em todas as suas promessas e é bondoso em tudo o que faz. O SENHOR ampara todos os que caem e levanta todos os que estão prostrados. Os olhos de todos estão voltados para ti, e tu lhes dás o alimento no devido tempo. Abres a tua mão e satisfazes os desejos de todos os seres vivos. O SENHOR é justo em todos os seus caminhos e é bondoso em tudo o que faz. O SENHOR está perto de todos os que o invocam, de todos os que o invocam com sinceridade. Ele realiza os desejos daqueles que o temem; ouve-os gritar por socorro e os salva. O SENHOR cuida de todos os que o amam, mas a todos os ímpios destruirá.
Com meus lábios louvarei o SENHOR. Que todo ser vivo bendiga o seu santo nome para todo o sempre!”
