And while I was still saying these words in prayer, and putting my sins and the sins of my people Israel before the Lord, and requesting grace from the Lord my God for the holy mountain of my God;

Even while I was still in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at first when my weariness was great, put his hand on me about the time of the evening offering.

And teaching me and talking to me he said, O Daniel, I have come now to give you wisdom.

At the first word of your prayer a word went out, and I have come to give you knowledge; for you are a man dearly loved: so give thought to the word and let the vision be clear to you.

Seventy weeks have been fixed for your people and your holy town, to let wrongdoing be complete and sin come to its full limit, and for the clearing away of evil-doing and the coming in of eternal righteousness: so that the vision and the word of the prophet may be stamped as true, and to put the holy oil on a most holy place.

Have then the certain knowledge that from the going out of the word for the building again of Jerusalem till the coming of a prince, on whom the holy oil has been put, will be seven weeks: in sixty-two weeks its building will be complete, with square and earthwork.

And at the end of the times, even after the sixty-two weeks, one on whom the holy oil has been put will be cut off and have no ...; and the town and the holy place will be made waste together with a prince; and the end will come with an overflowing of waters, and even to the end there will be war; the making waste which has been fixed.

And a strong order will be sent out against the great number for one week; and so for half of the week the offering and the meal offering will come to an end; and in its place will be an unclean thing causing fear; till the destruction which has been fixed is let loose on him who has made waste.

Ezequiel 21-23
O que significa a expressão “o cetro de meu filho”, de Ezequiel 21:10?
Pra entender essa figura, você precisa tentar entender todo o trecho de texto. Ezequiel 21:8-17 trata da Espada Afiada e Polida.
Na sequência dos capítulos anteriores, o terror da destruição próxima de Jerusalém é descrito neste oráculo aqui, em termos ainda assustadores. A espada não só estava desembainhada, mas está afiada e polida para o dia da matança (v.10). Não era ocasião nem para regozijo, nem para zombaria. Por ocasião do sítio de Jerusalém por Senaqueribe nos dias do rei Ezequias, houve aqueles que, com o maior cinismo, estavam se preparando para o desastre que ameaçava engolfar a cidade dizendo: “Comamos e bebamos, que amanhã morreremos” (Isaías 22:13). Aparentemente, a história iria repetir-se ao Jerusalém ser sitiada pelos exércitos de Nabucodonosor. Esta diferença cínica em face de um perigo mortal reproduziu-se por ocasião do banquete que Belsazar ofereceu a seus grandes à véspera da tomada de Babilônia pelas tropas de Ciro (Daniel 5).
A frase final do v.10, que, a princípio, oferece umas certas dificuldades para ser entendida, poderia ser traduzida assim: “O cetro [na NVI, vareta] de meu filho despreza qualquer [outro] pau”. O termo hebraico “shebet” significa não somente “cetro”, mas também “tribo”. Nas bênçãos que Jacó proferiu em seu leito de morte somente de Judá diz ele beni, “filho meu” (Gênesis 49:9). Levando em consideração estes dois fatos, a frase “a tribo de meu filho” seria uma referência à tribo de Judá. O sentido de toda a frase seria então: “Judá despreza qualquer pau”. “Pau” teria neste contexto o sentido de “castigo”. Como Judá tinha desprezado os castigos mais leves do passado representados pelo “pau”, teria agora que sofrer o castigo da espada afiada e polida.
Através do “matador” do v.11, que é o NABUCODONOSOR, ou melhor, o exército que ele comandava, iria acontecer uma guerra contra todo o povo de Judá, e mesmo os príncipes não escapariam (v.12). O castigo seria feio. Judá, que tinha desprezado os castigos anteriores expressados pela vara, não sobreviveria ao castigo da espada (versos 13 e 10). A carnificina que ocorreria por ocasião do sítio e conquista de Jerusalém é descrita em termos horripilantes nos vv.14-17. E isso tudo realmente aconteceu. Infelizmente.
Lição de aplicação para a nossa vida: quando Deus nos permitir uma leve conseqüência ruim, em vez de desprezarmos a repreensão ou, em vez de até mesmo reclamar com Deus, o melhor é procurar aprender a lição enquanto a disciplina é leve. Caso contrário, a repreensão posterior pode ser insuportável. Concluindo tudo, o conselho é: aproveite a disciplina por amor.
