Now you will give yourselves deep wounds for grief; they will put up a wall round us: they will give the judge of Israel a blow on the face with a rod.

And you, Beth-lehem Ephrathah, the least among the families of Judah, out of you one will come to me who is to be ruler in Israel; whose going out has been purposed from time past, from the eternal days.

For this cause he will give them up till the time when she who is with child has given birth: then the rest of his brothers will come back to the children of Israel.

And he will take his place and give food to his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the glory of the name of the Lord his God; and their resting-place will be safe: for now he will be great to the ends of the earth.

And this will be our peace: when the Assyrian comes into our country and his feet are in our land, then we will put up against him seven keepers of the flocks and eight chiefs among men.

And they will make waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod with the edge of the sword: he will give us salvation from the Assyrian when he comes into our country, when his feet come inside the limit of our land.

And the rest of Jacob will be among the mass of peoples like dew from the Lord, like showers on the grass, which may not be kept back by man, or be waiting for the sons of men.

And the rest of Jacob will be among the nations, in the middle of the mass of peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the woods, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep: if he goes through, they will be crushed under foot and pulled to bits, and there will be no saviour.

Your hand is lifted up against those who are against you, and all your haters will be cut off.

AJUDANDO OS MAIS FRACOS

Quando as pessoas lêem 1CorÃntios 10:25 e pensam que Paulo está abolindo as leis de saúde, na realidade, estão enganadas. Biblicamente, assim como a carne de porco não era comestÃvel há milênios atrás, não é também, até hoje. Para entender isto, é importante ler todo o contexto. Por isso, a leitura de hoje é toda, um assunto só.
Estudando o contexto deste texto podemos facilmente identificar o assunto do qual Paulo estava tratando na ocasião. O versÃculo 28 e bem assim todo o contexto, desde o verso 14 e também todo o capÃtulo 8, esclarecem que o assunto trata exclusivamente de carnes oferecidas a Ãdolos. Não se fala aqui das espécies de carnes, mas sim das que haviam sido oferecidas aos Ãdolos antes de irem para o açougue. Todavia, nem sempre a carne era previamente sacrificada. Isso, o presente texto nos dá a entender com bastante clareza, pois diz Paulo: ‘sem nada perguntardes por escrúpulos de consciência’. (Versão P. Rohden).
Se toda carne fosse sempre oferecida aos deuses antes de ir para o mercado, ninguém precisava ter dúvidas; mas como o não era, e mesmo porque não havia importância em saber, o crente não tinha necessidade de perguntar coisa alguma. Paulo não diz aqui que não deviam perguntar para saber de que espécie era a carne, se deste ou aquele animal, porque isto, naturalmente, não estava em questão. Não tinham razão para perguntar, a não ser que fossem advertidos por alguém.
Ademais, não se precisavam manter esses escrúpulos, porque, ‘quanto ao comer das coisas sacrificadas aos Ãdolos’, disse Paulo, ‘sabemos que o Ãdolo nada é no mundo, e que não há outro Deus, senão um só’ (cap.8:4). Ninguém precisava preocupar-se com isto porque os Ãdolos, nada sendo senão matéria inanimada, também não podiam influir na carne. E além disto, antes de comê-la, se pedia sobre ela a bênção de Deus. Verso 30; 1Tim. 4:5. Mas, se alguém tinha dúvidas, a advertência era a de Rom. 14:23. Também, se alguém advertia ao crente, dizendo-lhe que aquela carne havia sido sacrificada aos Ãdolos, então ele, por amor à consciência, daquele que o advertia, não devia comer.
Compreende-se claramente que Paulo, em todos esses versÃculos, põe em relevo o mal de comer para escândalo dos fracos. (1Cor. 8:12; 10:31).
Não que houvesse mal em usar das carnes sacrificadas aos Ãdolos, quer adquirindo-os nos açougues, quer comendo-as na casa de um gentio, porque os Ãdolos nada são; o que se condenava era o errôneo procedimento de alguns crentes, que ainda costumavam ir aos templos pagãos e ali banquetear-se, em suas mesas, com os sacrifÃcios feitos em honra aos deuses.
