|Jeremias 40:1|
The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, who were carried away captive to Babylon.

And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said to him, The LORD thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place.

Now the LORD hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.

And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thy hand. If it seemeth good to thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well to thee: but if it seemeth ill to thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee: whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.

Now while he had not yet gone back, he said, Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go wherever it seemeth convenient to thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him provisions and a reward, and let him go.

Then Jeremiah went to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.

Now when all the captains of the forces who were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed to him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;

Then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.

And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, swore to them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to serve the Chaldeans, who will come to us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.

SOBRE A CONDUTA CRISTÃ

Paulo escreveu uma cartinha não para Tito somente, mas para todos nós, que somos cristãos. Esta epístola, além de falar sobre a tarefa de Tito em Creta e de dar instruções a vários grupos, preocupa-se com a conduta cristã. E a preocupação com a conduta cristã é uma das nossas crenças fundamentais. Como membros do corpo de Cristo...
“Somos chamados para ser um povo piedoso que pensa, sente e age de acordo com os princípios do Céu. Para que o Espírito recrie em nós o caráter de nosso Senhor, só nos envolvemos naquelas coisas que produzirão em nossa vida pureza, saúde e alegria semelhantes às de Cristo. Isso significa que nossas diversões e entretenimentos devem corresponder aos mais altos padrões do gosto e beleza cristãos.
“Embora reconheçamos diferenças culturais, nosso vestuário deve ser simples, modesto e de bom gosto, apropriado àqueles cuja verdadeira beleza não consiste no adorno exterior, mas no ornamento imperecível de um espírito manso e tranqüilo. Significa também que, sendo o nosso corpo o templo do Espírito Santo, devemos cuidar dele inteligentemente. Junto com adequado exercício e repouso, devemos adotar a alimentação mais saudável possível e abster-nos dos alimentos imundos identificados nas Escrituras. Visto que as bebidas alcoólicas, o fumo e o uso irresponsável de medicamentos e narcóticos são prejudiciais a nosso corpo, também devemos abaster-nos dessas coisas.
“Em vez disso, devemos empenhar-nos em tudo que submeta nossos pensamentos e nosso corpo à disciplina de Cristo, o qual deseja nossa integridade, alegria e bem-estar (Nisto Cremos, 366)”.
“Pela comunhão diária com Deus, por Sua Palavra e pela oração, podemos resistir ao pecado e à tentação. Esses canais de comunicação com o Pai só podem ser encontrados em Cristo, pela habitação do Espírito de Deus. Em Cristo, podemos também desenvolver o verdadeiro caráter cristão através da nossa herança e comunhão uns com os outros e levando os fardos uns dos outros (Lição dos Jovens, 25-30 de dezembro de 2005)”.
A comunicação num relacionamento deve ser cooperativa. Isso significa que devemos não apenas ouvir a voz de Deus na leitura da Bíblia, mas também precisamos nos comunicar sinceramente com Ele. De acordo com Lemar Standiford, de Grand Terrace, EUA, “para construirmos um relacionamento forte com Deus, nossa comunicação com Ele não precisa ser uma via de mão única. Ao contrário, deve ser uma estrada movimentada percorrida por ambas as partes envolvidas. Isso significa ouvir... falar... ouvir... falar... ouvir”.
“Porque a graça de Deus se manifestou salvadora a todos os homens. Ela nos ensina a renunciar à impiedade e às paixões mundanas e a viver de maneira sensata, justa e piedosa nesta era presente (Tito 2:11-12)”.
