And the flesh of them shall be thine, as the wave-breast and as the right shoulder are thine

All the heave-offerings of the holy things, which the children of Israel offer to the LORD, have I given to thee, and to thy sons and thy daughters with thee, by a statute for ever: it is a covenant of salt for ever before the LORD to thee and to thy seed with thee.

|Números 18:20|
And the LORD spoke to Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thy inheritance among the children of Israel.

And behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation.

|Números 18:22|
Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die.

|Números 18:23|
But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: It shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance.

But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as a heave-offering to the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said to them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

Thus speak to the Levites, and say to them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up a heave-offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe.

And this your heave-offering shall be reckoned to you, as though it were the corn of the threshing-floor, and as the fullness of the wine-press.

“Por que necessitamos de Mateus, Marcos, Lucas, João, Paulo e todos os escritores que deram testemunho quanto à vida e ao ministério do Salvador? Por que não poderia um dos discípulos escrever o relatório completo? Por que introduz um dos escritores pontos que outro não menciona? É porque a mente dos homens difere. Nem todos compreendem as coisas exatamente de igual maneira (Ellen White).”
“O Evangelho segundo Lucas é a narrativa mais completa da vida de Jesus que veio até nós proveniente da era apostólica. Teve a intenção de ser uma descrição completa do curso da vida do Salvador desde o seu nascimento até a sua ascensão, e faz parte de uma obra maior que inclui o livro dos Atos, o qual prossegue com a história das atividades missionárias da igreja até o estabelecimento da comunidade cristã em Roma (Dwight Lyman Moody).”
“O estilo de seus escritos, e a sua familiaridade aos ritos e costumes dos judeus, demonstram de modo fidedigno que era judeu, enquanto o seu conhecimento do grego, bem como o seu nome, declaram a sua origem gentia (Matthew Henry).”

“É evidente que Lucas escreveu principalmente para os gentios. Teófilo era um gentio, como o autor, e não há no Evangelho nada que um gentio não possa captar ou compreender. Mas a característica mais proeminente de Lucas é que seu evangelho é universal. Caem todas as barreiras; Jesus é para todos os homens sem distinção (William Barclay).”
