      JESUS, HOMEM DE ORAÇÃO
      Mateus 08-10

      Logo após ter falado sobre a persistência na oração, Jesus saiu fazendo um monte de milagres. Por quê, será, não é mesmo?
      Em Sua juventude, a madrugada e o crepúsculo vespertino muitas vezes O encontravam sozinho ao lado da montanha ou entre as árvores da floresta, passando uma hora silenciosa de oração e estudo da Palavra de Deus .
      Quando o ministério de Cristo estava prestes a iniciar-se, Ele foi batizado pelas mãos de João. Ao sair da água, Ele Se ajoelhou à beira do Jordão e ofereceu ao Pai uma oração como o Céu jamais ouvira antes .
      Ao Jesus ajoelhar-Se a beira do Jordão e oferecer Sua prece, a humanidade foi apresentada ao Pai por Aquele que havia coberto Sua divindade.
      O próprio Jesus, enquanto Se encontrava entre [homens e mulheres], estava muitas vezes em oração. A oração vinha antes e santificava cada ato de Seu ministério. Por meio da oração Ele foi escudado para o dever e a provação.
      ...Sua humanidade tornou a oração uma necessidade e um privilégio
      Numa vida toda votada ao bem dos outros, o Salvador achou necessário afastar-Se dos lugares movimentados e da multidão que O acompanhava, dia a dia. Precisava retirar-Se de uma vida de incessante atividade e contato com as necessidades humanas, para buscar sossego e ininterrupta comunhão com o Pai. Como uma pessoa identificada conosco, participante de nossas necessidades e fraquezas, dependia inteiramente de Deus, e no lugar oculto de oração buscava força divina, a fim de poder sair escudado para o dever e provação. Num mundo de pecado, Jesus suportou lutas e torturas de alma. Em comunhão com Deus, podia aliviar as dores que O esmagavam. Ali encontrava conforto e alegria .
      ...Ao terminar Seu trabalho diário, retirava-Se, noite após noite, da confusão da cidade, e Sua silhueta se inclinava em súplica ao Pai. Muitas vezes a claridade da Lua incidia sobre Ele, e de quando em quando as nuvens e trevas afugentavam toda luz. Ele freqüentemente persistia em Suas petições noite adentro, e o orvalho caía sobre Sua cabeça e barba, enquanto Ele permanecia em atitude suplicante. Ele saía revigorado desses momentos de oração, escudado para o dever e a provação .
      Nenhuma outra vida já foi tão assoberbada de trabalho e responsabilidade como a de Jesus; todavia, quantas vezes estava Ele em oração! Quão constante era Sua comunhão com o Pai .
      Muitos se acham tão absorvidos pelos cuidados e perplexidades mundanos que têm pouco tempo para orar, e sentem pouco interesse na oração. ... E oh, quão fervorosas e ferventes eram Suas súplicas!
      Jesus foi um homem de oração.
