And there hath been called there a man of worthlessness, and his name [is] Sheba, son of Bichri, a Benjamite, and he bloweth with a trumpet, and saith, `We have no portion in David, and we have no inheritance in the son of Jesse; each to his tents, O Israel.`

And every man of Israel goeth up from after David, after Sheba son of Bichri, and the men of Judah have cleaved to their king, from the Jordan even unto Jerusalem.

And David cometh in unto his house at Jerusalem, and the king taketh the ten women-concubines -- whom he had left to keep the house, and putteth them in a house of ward, and sustaineth them, and unto them he hath not gone in, and they are shut up unto the day of their death, in widowhood living.

And the king saith unto Amasa, `Call for me the men of Judah [in] three days, and thou, stand here,`

and Amasa goeth to call Judah, and tarrieth beyond the appointed time that he had appointed him;

and David saith unto Abishai, `Now doth Sheba son of Bichri do evil to us more than Absalom; thou, take the servants of thy lord, and pursue after him, lest he have found for himself fenced cities, and delivered himself [from] our eye.`

And the men of Joab go out after him, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and all the mighty men, and they go out from Jerusalem to pursue after Sheba son of Bichri;

they [are] near the great stone that [is] in Gibeon, and Amasa hath gone before them, and Joab [is] girded; his long robe he hath put on him, and upon it a girdle -- a sword [is] fastened upon his loins in its sheath; and he hath gone out, and it falleth.

And Joab saith to Amasa, `Art thou [in] peace, my brother?` and the right hand of Joab layeth hold on the beard of Amasa to give a kiss to him;

and Amasa hath not been watchful of the sword that [is] in the hand of Joab, and he smiteth him with it unto the fifth [rib], and sheddeth out his bowels to the earth, and he hath not repeated [it] to him, and he dieth; and Joab and Abishai his brother have pursued after Sheba son of Bichri.

UMA VIDA COM PROPÓSITOS
Deuteronômio 11-13
Hoje é aniversário da minha irmã. Não direi quantos anos ela está fazendo, porque mulher não gosta de dizer a idade, né? Mas 28 de fevereiro é um dia muito especial para mim porque minha maninha do coração está completando mais um ano de vida. Então, mana, se você ler este comentário, quero mandar-lhe um beijão e dizer que você é muito importante na minha vida. Que Deus lhe dê muitos anos de vida, e que você seja feliz. Muitos anos de vida “nesta vida e na eternidade”.
E por falar em vida, qual é o seu objetivo de viver aqui neste mundo? Você já parou para pensar sobre esse assunto? Você tem uma resposta para essa pergunta? Questiono isso, porque, infelizmente, a maioria das pessoas não sabe o porquê e para que está vivendo. Esse tipo de gente não vive, sobrevive. Isso é falta de Deus na vida das pessoas, sabia?
É interessante o quanto Deus guia até as nossas leituras, quando nos colocamos nas mãos de Deus. Pode parecer coincidência, mas sei que, na realidade, foi providência, algo que aconteceu comigo. Terminei de ler um livro que mostra, cientificamente, as evidências de que Deus existe, para rebater os ateístas. Fiquei convencido (já era, mas fiquei mais ainda) de que Deus existe, mas os argumentos filosóficos científicos do livro parecem que mesmo sendo lógicos, eram sem graça e vazios.
Bem, então, pedi à minha esposa: Amor, me dá uma sugestão de um livro para eu ler! Ela apresentou-me um recém-comprado: “Uma vida com propósitos – você não está aqui por acaso”, de Rick Warren. Não acreditei. Era como se fosse um complemento do livro anterior. Percebi que Deus me deu aquele livro para me fortalecer. Vivendo aqui neste mundo, precisamos sempre relembrar e entender que Deus tem um plano maravilhoso para nossa vida.
É por isso que Deus lhe deu a oportunidade de ler Deuteronômio 11-13. Afinal, a leitura já começa dizendo sobre o propósito de Deus para sua vida: “Amem o Senhor, o seu Deus, e obedeçam sempre aos seus preceitos, aos seus decretos, às suas ordenanças e aos seus mandamentos.”
Esse é o objetivo de vida do ser humano: servir a Deus. É por isso que aqui fala dos benefícios da obediência e, nos capítulos seguintes, em como podemos nos dar bem nessa vida de obediência, fugindo da maldição, correndo para o lugar certo de adoração e se livrando dos falsos ensinos que poderiam nos enganar.
Não sei quantos anos você tem, mas saiba de uma coisa: se você está vivendo aqui neste mundo, Deus tem um plano para você. Descubra na Bíblia!
