And kept back part of the price, his wife having knowledge of it, and took the rest and put it at the feet of the Apostles.

But Peter said, Ananias, why has the Evil One put it into your heart to be false to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

While you had it, was it not your property? and after you had given it in exchange, was it not still in your power? how has this purpose come into your mind? you have been false, not to men, but to God.

QUEM FOI MELQUISEDEQUE?

Quer saber quem foi Melquisedeque? Então, antes de ler esta meditação, por favor, busque e leia, em sua Bíblia, as seguintes passagens bíblicas, que falam sobre este personagem: Gênesis 14:18; Salmos 110:4; Hebreus 5:6, 10; 6:20; 7:1-17.
Pelas passagens listadas acima dá para você perceber que existe pouca informação bíblica sobre este personagem. Mas dá pra entender que Melquisedeque, foi um personagem real no tempo de Abraão, o qual era rei e sacerdote em Salém, mais tarde chamada de Jerusalém (Gen. 14). A ele, Abraão “pagou” dízimos. E afora o relato de Gênesis 14, não temos nenhuma outra informação sobre o seu nascimento, parentesco, etc.
Os estudiosos bíblicos mais espertos percebem que Melquisedeque foi um sacerdote de Deus antes mesmo de Deus escolher um povo especial na Terra (através de Abraão), e estabelecer o sacerdócio dos levitas (filhos de Arão, irmão de Moisés). Outra coisa interessante é que ele não veio de uma família de sacerdotes ou de pessoas ilustres ou importantes. Ele foi escolhido por Deus sem ter antepassados de linha sacerdotal dos quais poderia, talvez, se orgulhar. No livro de Hebreus, Paulo compara o sacerdócio Aaraônico com o sacerdócio de Melquisedeque.
E, pelo visto, Melquisedeque obedecia a Deus sem questionar. Aqui, encontramos alguma semelhança deste personagem com Jesus.
Jesus é o nosso Sacerdote principal, que nos representa diante de Deus e nos defende. Mas Jesus não nasceu da linhagem dos sacerdotes, a tribo de Levi. Não tinha antepassados sacerdotes. Jesus nasceu da tribo de Judá. Mesmo assim, Ele é nosso sumo-sacerdote celestial. Ele também não teve antepassados humanos. Cristo foi gerado pelo Espírito Santo. Ele não era filho de José. Apenas foi gerado no ventre de Maria. Assim, podemos comparar Melquisedeque, que não teve antepassados “ilustres”, com Jesus, que, “verdadeiramente”, não teve antepassados.
Por último podemos analisar a afirmação bíblica de que Jesus pertenceu a um sacerdócio mais elevado que o sacerdócio levítico, o sacerdócio segundo a ordem de Melquisedeque. Isso é assim, pela seguinte razão: antes de existir a tribo de Levi, antes de existir o povo de Israel, Melquisedeque já era sacerdote. De Jesus pode-se afirmar com maior propriedade ainda, que, antes que Abraão existisse, “EU SOU (João 8:58)”. Ou seja, Jesus é superior aos sacerdotes conhecidos nos dias dele, e de todos os tempos.
Como Melquisedeque, Jesus é rei-sacerdote. Da tribo de Levi veio o sacerdócio e da tribo de Judá vieram os reis da monarquia israelita. Tanto o sacerdócio como o reinado apontavam para Cristo, que em Si reunia ambos os ofícios. E Melquisedeque é neste sentido, o melhor tipo de Cristo, por ser, ao mesmo tempo, rei e sacerdote.
