|Jeremias 40:1|
The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him; for he had been put in chains, among all the prisoners of Jerusalem and Judah who were taken away prisoners to Babylon.

|Jeremias 40:2|
And the captain of the armed men took Jeremiah and said to him, The Lord your God gave word of the evil which was to come on this place:

|Jeremias 40:3|
*** and the Lord has made it come, and has done as he said; because of your sin against the Lord in not giving ear to his voice; and that is why this thing has come on you.

|Jeremias 40:4|
Now see, this day I am freeing you from the chains which are on your hands. If it seems good to you to come with me to Babylon, then come, and I will keep an eye on you; but if it does not seem good to you to come with me to Babylon, then do not come: see, all the land is before you; if it seems good and right to you to go on living in the land,

Then go back to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made ruler over the towns of Judah, and make your living-place with him among the people; or go wherever it seems right to you to go. So the captain of the armed men gave him food and some money and let him go.

So Jeremiah went to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, in Mizpah, and was living with him among the people who were still in the land.

Now when it came to the ears of all the captains of the forces who were in the field, and their men, that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, ruler in the land, and had put under his care the men and women and children, all the poorest of the land, those who had not been taken away to Babylon;

|Jeremias 40:8|
Then they came to Gedaliah in Mizpah, even Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, and Seraiah, the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah, the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

And Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, took an oath to them and their men, saying, Have no fear of the servants of the Chaldaeans: go on living in the land, and become the servants of the king of Babylon, and all will be well.

As for me, I will be living in Mizpah as your representative before the Chaldaeans who come to us: but you are to get in your wine and summer fruits and oil and put them in your vessels, and make living-places for yourselves in the towns which you have taken.

DECLARAÇÕES DE AMOR
Jeremias 30-32
Certa vez, um rapaz muito tímido apaixonou-se por uma moça. Ele não tinha coragem, de jeito nenhum, de ir até àquela moça, para declarar o seu amor por ela. Topânio era bem entendido nos assuntos da colônia. Conhecia bem os produtos da roça, entendia de animais... Mas lidar com “sentimentos”, para ele, era como ter que domar um “bicho de sete cabeças”. Resumindo, o rapaz não sabia como “chegar na moça”.
Então Topânio foi aconselhar-se com um caboclo mais velho que ele, a quem ele julgava ser uma pessoa de mais larga experiência. Então aquele compadre disse-lhe:
- Olha, Topânio, você vai até a moça, e fala coisas doces pra ela.
Então, todo animado, o conquistador saiu em busca do troféu. Colocou-se em frente à donzela, e, emudecido, não conseguia dizer uma única palavra. Assustada, a senhorita perguntou-lhe:
- Que é?
Então ele respondeu:
- Mel, açúcar, rapadura, garapa, melado...
E, enquanto ele falava, a moça saiu em disparada.
O jovem, sem saber o que fizera de errado, mas muito bravo, voltou ao seu conselheiro. Sua reclamação era a de que a dica falhara. Então o companheiro perguntou-lhe:
- Mas o que você disse?
E Topânio respondeu:
- Falei sobre o que você mandou: coisas doces. Mel, açúcar, rapadura, garapa, melado...
O compadre respirou fundo e falou:
- Não, meu amigo, você tem que falar sobre aquilo que existe dentro de você...
- Ah, entendi...
E, de volta ao seu alvo, colocou-se, mais emudecido ainda, perante a jovem. Ela, agora mais assustada, voltou a perguntar:
- Que é?
- E o Topânio respondeu:
- Bofe, Fígado, Coração, Espinhela, Tripa, Guela...
E você já pode imaginar o resto da história.
Se você procurar, na internet, vai encontrar uma série de serviços de declaração de amor disponíveis. Trata-se de fazer pelo apaixonado o que ele deveria fazer mas não consegue: cortejar a conquistanda. Você acha que dá certo: amor por encomenda, enlatado, pré-formatado, pré-cozido ou pré-moldado? É óbvio que não. Uma triste decepção, seria receber, da pessoa amada, uma carta de amor, achar a carta linda e maravilhosa, e depois ficar sabendo que essa pessoa pagou, a um desconhecido, pela criação da carta, sobre a qual ela nem conhece o conteúdo. Não seria uma grande decepção? Sim! Porque o amor tem que ser sincero e genuíno; precisa ser, realmente, oriundo do mais profundo interior do ser, e além disso, ser demonstrado com arte.
Deus faz muitas declarações de amor por você. Ele É amor, e sabe demonstrar isso com divindade: “Com Amor eterno eu te amei; por isso, com benignidade te atraí”.
