|Jeremias 40:1|
The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him; for he had been put in chains, among all the prisoners of Jerusalem and Judah who were taken away prisoners to Babylon.

|Jeremias 40:2|
And the captain of the armed men took Jeremiah and said to him, The Lord your God gave word of the evil which was to come on this place:

|Jeremias 40:3|
*** and the Lord has made it come, and has done as he said; because of your sin against the Lord in not giving ear to his voice; and that is why this thing has come on you.

Now see, this day I am freeing you from the chains which are on your hands. If it seems good to you to come with me to Babylon, then come, and I will keep an eye on you; but if it does not seem good to you to come with me to Babylon, then do not come: see, all the land is before you; if it seems good and right to you to go on living in the land,

Then go back to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made ruler over the towns of Judah, and make your living-place with him among the people; or go wherever it seems right to you to go. So the captain of the armed men gave him food and some money and let him go.

So Jeremiah went to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, in Mizpah, and was living with him among the people who were still in the land.

Now when it came to the ears of all the captains of the forces who were in the field, and their men, that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, ruler in the land, and had put under his care the men and women and children, all the poorest of the land, those who had not been taken away to Babylon;

Then they came to Gedaliah in Mizpah, even Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, and Seraiah, the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah, the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

And Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, took an oath to them and their men, saying, Have no fear of the servants of the Chaldaeans: go on living in the land, and become the servants of the king of Babylon, and all will be well.

As for me, I will be living in Mizpah as your representative before the Chaldaeans who come to us: but you are to get in your wine and summer fruits and oil and put them in your vessels, and make living-places for yourselves in the towns which you have taken.

Jeremias 45-48
1 1/2 minutos: é o tempo que você vai gastar para ler um capítulo inteiro da Bíblia, que é o primeiro dos quatro propostos para lermos hoje. Que facilidade! Não dá pra desanimar, concorda? É fácil assim porque, na realidade, além de ser um capítulo curto, Jeremias 45 é uma mensagem simples. É um recado de Deus para um secretário chamado Baruque, enviado através de Jeremias. E, apesar de ser pequeno em tamanho, esse bilhetinho pode trazer-nos grandes lições. Deus não quer que sejamos reclamões. Sabe aquele tipo de pessoas que pensam que o universo inteiro gravitaciona-se ao redor do umbigo delas? O Senhor não se agrada disso, porque sabe que quando passo a pensar que eu devo ser o centro de todas as atenções, meu prejuízo é muito grande. A razão é simples: o egocentrismo é uma doença que tanto destrói a própria pessoa quanto prejudica a muitos outros. Isso é um recado de Deus. Um recado que Deus dá a alguém serve também para os outros? Sim. O não recado foi dado a Baruque? Mas também não serve para você e para mim? Então, pensando nisto, continue olhando os capítulos bíblicos da leitura de hoje.
Jeremias 46 é um recadão de Deus para o povo egípcio. O Egito, por muito tempo, havia sido a maior e mais poderosa nação do mundo. Há tempos, não era mais. Mas eles ainda se achavam. E ainda faziam parte das grandes influencias internacionais do mundo ativo de então. Nesse contexto, Deus chega e lhes dá um recado personalizado.
Em Jeremias 47 o recado agora vai para os filisteus, que, diferentemente dos egípcios, não eram lá um povo distante. Eles não tinham a sua própria nação com território amplamente único, exclusivo, cercado e protegido. Eles eram um povo que estava ali, infiltrados, dentro das terras do povo de Deus. Uma gente que ao mesmo tempo não passava de um grupo de sem-pátria constituía uma ameaça poderosa. Os filisteus tiveram uma oportunidade muito maior de reconhecer os planos de Deus, por estarem mais perto. Logo, sua rejeição outorgava-lhes ao caráter uma obstinação muito maior. E para os componentes desta cultura específica, Deus também dá uma mensagem peculiar.
Outro recado exclusivo pode ser encontrado em Jeremias 48, na mensagem acerca dos moabitas. Mas o mais interessante de tudo é que mesmo que Deus tivesse um recado duro de ser ouvido, junto, Ele ainda tinha uma porta de esperança sempre aberta. Depois de jogar duro com os moabitas, Ele diz: “Contudo, restauratei a sorte de Moabe, em dias vindouros”.
Mesmo que Ele jogue duro com você, sua intenção final é restaurar-lhe a sorte.
