|Jeremias 40:1|
The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him; for he had been put in chains, among all the prisoners of Jerusalem and Judah who were taken away prisoners to Babylon.

|Jeremias 40:2|
And the captain of the armed men took Jeremiah and said to him, The Lord your God gave word of the evil which was to come on this place:

|Jeremias 40:3|
*** and the Lord has made it come, and has done as he said; because of your sin against the Lord in not giving ear to his voice; and that is why this thing has come on you.

|Jeremias 40:4|
Now see, this day I am freeing you from the chains which are on your hands. If it seems good to you to come with me to Babylon, then come, and I will keep an eye on you; but if it does not seem good to you to come with me to Babylon, then do not come: see, all the land is before you; if it seems good and right to you to go on living in the land,

|Jeremias 40:5|
Then go back to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made ruler over the towns of Judah, and make your living-place with him among the people; or go wherever it seems right to you to go. So the captain of the armed men gave him food and some money and let him go.

So Jeremiah went to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, in Mizpah, and was living with him among the people who were still in the land.

Now when it came to the ears of all the captains of the forces who were in the field, and their men, that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, ruler in the land, and had put under his care the men and women and children, all the poorest of the land, those who had not been taken away to Babylon;

|Jeremias 40:8|
Then they came to Gedaliah in Mizpah, even Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, and Seraiah, the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah, the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

And Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, took an oath to them and their men, saying, Have no fear of the servants of the Chaldaeans: go on living in the land, and become the servants of the king of Babylon, and all will be well.

As for me, I will be living in Mizpah as your representative before the Chaldaeans who come to us: but you are to get in your wine and summer fruits and oil and put them in your vessels, and make living-places for yourselves in the towns which you have taken.

RECADO FINAL
Josué 22-24
No momento em que sentei para pensar o que iria comentar sobre a leitura de hoje, eu estava viajando, depois de ter participado de um belo acampamento de jovens cristãos que aconteceu em um lugar bem retirado, longe da minha casa. Para ser mais exato, foram 16 horas de viagem, incluindo avião.
Você sabe que os cristãos têm o costume de, na época do carnaval, sair para algum lugar retirado, para fugir da bagunça que acontece na cidade e, ao mesmo tempo, aproveitar o tempo para enriquecer o relacionamento com Deus e o relacionamento com os amigos?
Fui a um lugar assim. Na realidade, fui para dirigir o acampamento de verão e fazer as palestras devocionais. Para mim, quando dirijo um acampamento assim, o momento mais forte é o da última palestra, no último dia. É interessante, pois sinto uma alegria muito grande pelo senso de missão cumprida, mas, ao mesmo tempo, uma tristeza bem marcante, pelo fato de que o acampamento está acabando e preciso me despedir dos acampantes a quem me apeguei e me ensinaram tanto. Nesse momento de sentimentos mistos, aproveito a oportunidade para dar o meu recado final.
Você quer saber como é? É só pensar na força dessa expressão: RECADO FINAL. Como deve ser um recado final? Imagine que você tivesse a responsabilidade de, em um lugar deserto, desprotegido, longe da civilização moderna, para onde Deus tenha conduzido Seu povo, para ficarem acampados, perante homens, mulheres e crianças, longe das influências pagãs e, ao mesmo tempo, necessitados de serem educados nos mais nobres assuntos, inclusive espirituais e de preparo para a vida eterna, ser o seu lÃder espiritual: a pessoa que guiaria essas pessoas. O que faria? Ao se colocar perante esse povo para despedir-se e dar o recado final, o que você diria? Pense: dois milhões de pessoas olhando para você, esperando para saber quais seriam suas últimas e mais importantes palavras...
O acampamento que dirigi não tinha dois milhões de pessoas. O retiro de verão onde fiz as palestras foi bem mais simples que o acampamento do pastor da nossa leitura de hoje. Nesse lugar, o clima era esse que descrevi acima. E a responsabilidade daquele pastor era muito séria. Seu recado seria muito importante, mas não seria apenas para dois milhões de pessoas. Espero que você seja esperto o suficiente para conseguir participar desse recado final também. Quer saber o endereço do acampamento? Então, abra o seu guia de acampante em Josué 22-24, porque o recado é tão importante que se tornou um trecho das Escrituras eternas de Deus para que, através dele, você seja salvo.
