|Jeremias 40:1|
The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after Nebuzaradan, the captain of the armed men, had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him; for he had been put in chains, among all the prisoners of Jerusalem and Judah who were taken away prisoners to Babylon.

|Jeremias 40:2|
And the captain of the armed men took Jeremiah and said to him, The Lord your God gave word of the evil which was to come on this place:

|Jeremias 40:3|
*** and the Lord has made it come, and has done as he said; because of your sin against the Lord in not giving ear to his voice; and that is why this thing has come on you.

Now see, this day I am freeing you from the chains which are on your hands. If it seems good to you to come with me to Babylon, then come, and I will keep an eye on you; but if it does not seem good to you to come with me to Babylon, then do not come: see, all the land is before you; if it seems good and right to you to go on living in the land,

Then go back to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has made ruler over the towns of Judah, and make your living-place with him among the people; or go wherever it seems right to you to go. So the captain of the armed men gave him food and some money and let him go.

So Jeremiah went to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, in Mizpah, and was living with him among the people who were still in the land.

Now when it came to the ears of all the captains of the forces who were in the field, and their men, that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, ruler in the land, and had put under his care the men and women and children, all the poorest of the land, those who had not been taken away to Babylon;

Then they came to Gedaliah in Mizpah, even Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, and Seraiah, the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah, the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

And Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, took an oath to them and their men, saying, Have no fear of the servants of the Chaldaeans: go on living in the land, and become the servants of the king of Babylon, and all will be well.

As for me, I will be living in Mizpah as your representative before the Chaldaeans who come to us: but you are to get in your wine and summer fruits and oil and put them in your vessels, and make living-places for yourselves in the towns which you have taken.

DESDE QUANDO?
Gênesis 12-15
De Martinho Lutero, herdamos a doutrina da justificação pela fé. Ele aprendeu isso nos escritos de Paulo. Mas o apóstolo buscou tal ensinamento junto à cruz. Então, onde tudo começou?
Abraão viveu no tempo do Velho Testamento. Será que ele foi salvo pela Lei? Pelo contrário! Não foi justificado por suas obras, mas porque creu. “Pois que diz a Escritura? Abraão creu em Deus, e isso lhe foi imputado para justiça. Mas, ao que não trabalha, porém crê naquele que justifica o ímpio, a sua fé lhe é atribuída como justiça” (Romanos 4:3 e 5; Gálatas 3:6; Tiago 2:23; cf. Gênesis 15:6).
Um soldado do exército imperial estava condenado a morrer. A mãe daquele oficial, em lágrimas, aos pés do imperador, rogou-lhe para que seu filho fosse perdoado. Napoleão Bonaparte, de pronto, negou, porque se tratava de um reincidente e era por isso que a justiça exigia a execução do réu.
Desesperada, a mãe tentou argumentar dizendo-lhe:
- Mas não estou pedindo justiça para o meu filho, ó grande. O que peço é misericórdia, senhor, misericórdia!
O monarca replicou:
- Ele não merece misericórdia.
Ela, porém insistiu suplicando:
- Sim senhor, disso eu sei. Se ele a merecesse, não seria misericórdia, seria justiça.
Essa verdade tocou o coração do imperador, e ele respondeu:
- Concederei a seu filho minha misericórdia.
“Se tu tivesses feito uma lista dos nossos pecados, quem escaparia da condenação? Mas tu nos perdoas, e por isso nós te tememos... ponha a sua esperança no Deus Eterno porque o seu amor é fiel, e ele sempre está disposto a salvar” (Salmo 130:3-7 - BLH). Apenas confesse seus pecados a Deus, pois “se confessarmos os nossos pecados, ele é fiel e justo para nos perdoar os pecados e nos purificar de toda injustiça” (1João 1:9).
A obra de Jesus, consumada na cruz, satisfez plenamente a justiça de Deus. Se você aceitá-la, alcançará misericórdia e perdão.
“Porque Cristo, quando nós ainda éramos fracos, morreu a seu tempo pelos ímpios. Dificilmente, alguém morreria por um justo; pois poderá ser que pelo bom alguém se anime a morrer. Mas Deus prova o seu próprio amor para conosco pelo fato de ter Cristo morrido por nós, sendo nós ainda pecadores” (Romanos 5:6-8).
Resumindo, justificação pela fé é, em Seu infinito amor e misericórdia, Deus fazendo a Jesus “pecado por nós; para que, nEle, fôssemos feitos justiça de Deus” (2Coríntios 5:21). Através da fé em Cristo, os corações são preenchidos pelo Espírito Santo. Por meio dessa mesma fé, dom da graça de Deus (Romanos 12:3; Efésios 2:8), os pecadores arrependidos são considerados justos (Romanos 3:28). A salvação sempre aconteceu assim.
