|Jeremias 40:6|
So Jeremiah went to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, in Mizpah, and was living with him among the people who were still in the land.

Now when it came to the ears of all the captains of the forces who were in the field, and their men, that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, ruler in the land, and had put under his care the men and women and children, all the poorest of the land, those who had not been taken away to Babylon;

Then they came to Gedaliah in Mizpah, even Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan, the son of Kareah, and Seraiah, the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah, the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

And Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, took an oath to them and their men, saying, Have no fear of the servants of the Chaldaeans: go on living in the land, and become the servants of the king of Babylon, and all will be well.

As for me, I will be living in Mizpah as your representative before the Chaldaeans who come to us: but you are to get in your wine and summer fruits and oil and put them in your vessels, and make living-places for yourselves in the towns which you have taken.

In the same way, when all the Jews who were in Moab and among the children of Ammon and in Edom and in all the countries, had news that the king of Babylon had let Judah keep some of its people and that he had put over them Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan;

Then all the Jews came back from all the places to which they had gone in flight, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, to Mizpah, and got in a great store of wine and summer fruit.

Now Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces which were in the field, came to Gedaliah in Mizpah,

And said to him, Has it come to your knowledge that Baalis, the king of the children of Ammon, has sent Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, to take your life? But Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, put no faith in what they said.

Then Johanan, the son of Kareah, said to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, Let me now go and put Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, to death without anyone's knowledge: why let him take your life so that all the Jews who have come together to you may be sent in flight, and the rest of the men of Judah come to an end?

Não sei se, ao ler estas linhas, você está no Brasil, ou em algum outro paÃs. Mas, só por ser um leitor do português brasileiro (hoje o mais importante do mundo), creio que você deve ter um vÃnculo, um carinho muito especial por esta nação. E, seja de que nação for que esteja lendo estas linhas, o mais importante é que você pertence a uma pátria, uma nação, um reino. Qual é o seu reino? Você gosta do seu paÃs, ou prefere viver longe dele?
Particularmente, amo a República Brasileira, mas sou sincero em dizer que não daria a vida por ela. Prefiro outras? Não. Para mim, a República brasileira é a melhor do mundo, mas eu não daria a vida por pátria nenhuma deste podre mundo. Já houve quem fosse mais apegado à s raÃzes patrióticas, mas isso já ficou no passado. Hoje é um dia próprio para lembrarmos-nos disso.
A Proclamação da República Brasileira foi um episódio, na História do Brasil, que instaurou o regime republicano no Brasil, derrubando a Monarquia do Brasil e o Imperador D.Pedro II do Brasil. Ocorreu dia 15 de novembro de 1889 no Rio de Janeiro, então capital do Império do Brasil, na praça da Aclamação, hoje Praça da República, quando um grupo de militares do Exército brasileiro, liderados pelo marechal Deodoro da Fonseca, deu um golpe de estado sem o uso de violência, depondo o Imperador D. Pedro II. Foi instituÃdo, naquele mesmo dia 15, um "Governo Provisório" republicano. Faziam parte deste "Governo Provisório", organizado na noite de 15 de novembro, o Marechal Deodoro da Fonseca como presidente, Floriano Peixoto como vice presidente, e, como ministros, Benjamin Constant, Quintino Bocaiuva, Rui Barbosa, Campos Sales, Aristides Lobo, Demétrio Ribeiro e o almirante Eduardo Wandenkolk. Todos eles, bem patriotas.
Outro camarada bem patriota começou sua viagem no primeiro capÃtulo da leitura de hoje, rumo à pátria de seu coração. Estou falando de Paulo, mas não estou falando de Roma. É claro que a leitura bÃblica de hoje resume-se na última viagem do grande apóstolo à capital do estado romano. Mas, longe daquele personagem bÃblico amar ou dar a vida pelo império dos césares. Muito menos estava representando qualquer outra cidadania daquele mundo antigo, pela qual tivesse que responder.
De onde Paulo era? De que nação? De que pátria? De que reino? Não é possÃvel basear a resposta correta nas origens de Paulo, mas em seu destino. Outra vez digo: não Roma! O itinerário estava além dali, pois aquele grande homem era seu conterrâneo. Isso mesmo! Leia-se sobre o seu reino final no último verso da leitura de hoje: o reino dos Céus.
