And when all this was finished, all Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and broke the columns, and hewed down the Asherahs, and demolished the high places and the altars in all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and Manasseh, until they had destroyed them all. And all the children of Israel returned every man to his possession, into their cities.

And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests, and the Levites after their divisions, every man according to his service, as well the priests as the Levites, for burnt-offerings and for peace-offerings, to serve and to give thanks and to praise in the gates of the courts of Jehovah.

CONCLUINDO ROMANOS
Romanos 14-16
Que diremos, pois, ao concluirmos Romanos? Que Romanos é uma carta de contrastes. Paulo parece se sentir bem em confrontar-nos com imagens contrastantes e metáforas. Por exemplo, Os capítulos 14 e 15 contrastam o julgamento e o desprezo com a aceitação amorosa. São muitos os contrastes. Creio que, por si mesmo, você pode detectar vários deles. Mas, o que vamos fazer com todos eles?
Em cada um destes contrastes o apóstolo, além de nos confrontar com uma escolha, vai mais além. Ele nos encoraja com a boa notícia de que Deus pode nos fortalecer (16:25) e estabelecer (14:4). O caminho de justificação pela fé, de liberdade da ira, de circuncisão do coração, de identidade com Cristo, de serviço a Deus, de vida no espírito, de vida sem condenação, de vida de herdeiro, de luz, de um amor envolvente que faz com que até mesmo aqueles que discordam dele sejam por ele mesmo bem-vindos, e de transformação em um sacrifício vivo, que agrada a Deus, pode ser nosso.
Percebe? Continue, você mesmo, a refletir sobre cada uma destas metáforas, imagens e promessas. Renove o seu compromisso no caminho cristão. A graça de Deus é o “mais-grátis” de todos os presentes. Mas para aceitar o dom é preciso dar uma resposta de fé. E esta dádiva é para cada um de nós. Ninguém fica de fora. Misericórdia para todos! Que bela notícia!
Cada uma destas metáforas leva-nos a antecipar as conseqüências de aceitar este evangelho. Nesta comunhão, podemos prever um novo relacionamento com Deus, no qual nós O experimentamos com o Pai amoroso que Ele tem sempre sido, em vez de um juiz condenantivo, que pensávamos que Ele era. Prevemos um novo relacionamento com o próximo, no qual reconhecemos cada pessoa como um irmão ou uma irmã, em vez de uma ameaça ou um inimigo. Mas talvez, a melhor de todas as novas é a de que, através do Espírito, estas visões podem se tornar realidade. Encontramos paz com Deus (5:1). Vivemos, no máximo que podemos, em paz com os outros (12:8). E este noticiar de uma nova vida ergue nossa visão para um futuro eterno muito maior, dando-nos, assim, esperança.
A minha oração por você, leitor de Romanos, é simplesmente a oração de Paulo, encontrada em Romanos 15:13: “Que o Deus da esperança os encha de toda alegria e paz, por sua confiança nele, para que vocês transbordem de esperança, pelo poder do Espírito Santo”. Além de retirar de Romanos as belas reflexões sobre as ricas metáforas, retire, você também, a sua oração.
