all the people gathered together as one man to the open place that was before the water-gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which Jehovah had commanded Israel.

And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation, both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, on the first day of the seventh month.

And he read in it before the open place that was before the water-gate from the morning until midday, in presence of the men and the women, and those that could understand. And the ears of all the people were [attentive] to the book of the law.

And Ezra the scribe stood upon a high stage of wood, which they had made for the purpose. And beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkijah, and Maaseiah on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchijah, and Hashum, and Hashbaddana, Zechariah, Meshullam.

And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people, for he was above all the people; and when he opened it, all the people stood up.

And Ezra blessed Jehovah, the great God; and all the people answered, Amen, Amen! with lifting up of their hands; and they bowed their heads, and worshipped Jehovah with their faces to the ground.

And Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law; and the people [stood] in their place.

And they read in the law of God distinctly out of the book, and gave the sense, and caused [them] to understand the reading.

And Nehemiah, that is, the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that explained to the people, said to all the people, This day is holy to Jehovah your God: mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.

And he said to them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions to them for whom nothing is prepared; for the day is holy to our Lord; and be not grieved, for the joy of Jehovah is your strength.

O QUE LUCAS 03-05 PODE SIGNIFICAR?
Lucas 03-05
No devocional de ontem, você leu sobre a idéia de vários autores consagrados no mundo da literatura cristã, por suas publicações editadas aos milhares, sobre o texto do evangelho de Lucas. Hoje, quero apresentar-lhe a opinião de alguns autores preciosos para mim, por serem meus amigos internautas, sobre, exatamente, a leitura de hoje.
André Santos, respondendo à pergunta “O que o texto da leitura bíblica de hoje representa para você?”, escreveu:
“Esse é um texto belíssimo! mas gostaria de destacar o 5:11 em que Simão pedro fora convidado por Jesus a Seguí-lo. É interessante notar o que Lucas narra : "deixou TUDO e segui-o". Será que estamos dispostos a tomar essa mesma atitude para seguir o Mestre? Deixar o que há de mais valioso para nós em prol do reino por amor de Cristo? Isto é a prioridade que Jesus deseja que nós tenhamos. Ele só aceita o primeiro lugar em nossas vidas. É só olharmos a palavra e notaremos em Jesus a priorização pelo reino, pelos interesses do Pai... Será que temos buscado a vontade do Pai ou temos buscado a Deus desejando barganhar com Ele o atendimento de nossos interesses? Reflita caro amigo, e peça ao Senhor que sonde seu coração [sic].”
Com certeza, amigo André, este é o grande desafio de cada um de nós, cristãos: ter a Jesus como prioridade autêntica. Só conheço um jeito de alcançarmos este enorme alvo. É quando nos tornamos íntimos com Ele, que vemos estas características nEle em nossa direção. Você é prioridade para Ele. O amor dEle por você é incondicional. Muito obrigado, André, por este seu comentário.
E aproveitando o gancho, quero também dizer aqui o que o texto de Lucas 03-05 significa para mim. Ele renova em mim o senso de missão. Sabe o que é isto? É a auto-motivação interior (dada por Deus, é claro) de ter como prioridade desgastar-se alegremente no trabalho da pregação do evangelho, de forma integral. Vejo isto este exemplo em João Batista , que deu a vida pelo ministério de Cristo, e não pelo dele mesmo. E posso ver também o senso de missão no próprio Jesus, tanto ao entregar-se à obra quanto ao, incansavelmente, chamar a outros para a mesma.
E termino com o anseio do email de Wellington Silva, de que, “com este texto da leitura bíblica de hoje, venhamos prosseguir no entendimento, para que cheguemos à aptidão de ensiná-lo na sinagoga, como Jesus o fazia”. Você tem este anseio, amigo? Não? Então, por favor, leia Lucas 03-05, e pense no que este texto precisa significar para você. Isto é o mais relevante.
