The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, after Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, hath sent him from Ramah, in his taking him -- and he a prisoner in chains -- in the midst of all the removal of Jerusalem and of Judah, who are removed to Babylon.

And the chief of the executioners taketh Jeremiah, and saith unto him, `Jehovah thy God hath spoken this evil concerning this place,

and Jehovah bringeth [it] in, and doth as He spake, because ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not hearkened to His voice, even this thing hath been to you.

`And now, lo, I have loosed thee to-day from the chains that [are] on thy hand; if good in thine eyes to come with me [to] Babylon, come, and I keep mine eye upon thee: and if evil in thine eyes to come with me to Babylon, forbear; see, all the land [is] before thee, whither [it be] good, and whither [it be] right in thine eyes to go -- go.` --

and while he doth not reply -- `Or turn back unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath appointed over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him in the midst of the people, or whithersoever it is right in thine eyes to go -- go.` And the chief of the executioners giveth to him for the way, and a gift, and sendeth him away,

and Jeremiah cometh in unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and dwelleth with him, in the midst of the people who are left in the land.

And all the heads of the forces that [are] in the field hear, they and their men, that the king of Babylon hath appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam over the land, and that he hath charged him [with] men, and women, and infants, and of the poor of the land, of those who have not been removed to Babylon;

and they come in unto Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan sons of Kareah, and Seraiah son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah son of the Maachathite, they and their men.

And swear to them doth Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, and to their men, saying, `Be not afraid of serving the Chaldeans, abide in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it is well for you;

and I, lo, I am dwelling in Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who are come in unto us, and ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruit, and oil, and put in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.`

DEUS PODE RESPONDER
Êxodo 16-17
Hoje é o vigésimo segundo dia do ano no calendário gregoriano. Então, só faltam 343 dias para o ano acabar, isso se o ano não for bissexto. Falta muito tempo ainda, né?
Em 22 de janeiro de 1957, Israel se retirou da PenÃnsula de Sinai. Muita coisa aconteceu ao Israel moderno, mas a nossa leitura de hoje fala de um acontecimento ocorrido com o Israel antigo, no tempo de Moisés. O lugar era o mesmo: região da PenÃnsula do Sinai. No entanto, daquela vez, o povo de Israel não tinha a oportunidade de sair de lá. E esse era o problema. Eles estavam com fome e sede, não tinham o que comer nem beber, não tinham de onde tirar recursos para isso. Não havia solução!
Mas o maior problema não é passar necessidade. O problema pode ser a postura quando nos deparamos com a crise. Já observou o comportamento das pessoas em momentos de crise? Você sabe que também foi em um dia 22 de janeiro, mas de 2006, que Evo Morales assumiu a presidência da BolÃvia? Como aquele homem fez tanta gente passar por situações de crise! Pela mÃdia, podÃamos ver, nitidamente, que Evo dividiu a opinião do povo. Através do que os meios de comunicação mostravam, pelas expressões das pessoas, percebÃamos que cada boliviano respondia de forma diferente diante da crise deles.
Um problema pior ainda que ter uma crise, é ter um comportamento equivocado durante a crise. Mas pior que tudo isso, é não ter um bom lÃder diante da crise, que era o caso dos nossos vizinhos.
No tempo da crise de Êxodo 16-17, o povo de Israel tinha um grande lÃder: Moisés. O problema foi o comportamento do povo. Que povo obstinado! Eles só conseguiam olhar para a própria barriga e não conseguiam erguer a cabeça acima disso. Ao ler sua BÃblia hoje, você perceberá isso. Existem tantas coisas acima das necessidades fisiológicas muito mais nobres para nos preocuparmos...
Jesus disse que felizes são aqueles que têm fome e sede, mas muito mais que de pão e água, fome e sede de justiça. Essa deve ser a nossa prioridade, porque nem só de pão vive o homem, mas de toda a Palavra de Deus. É por isso que tentamos procurar o conhecimento da justiça através da leitura da BÃblia.
Se não fizermos isso, corremos o risco de, apesar de estar no meio do povo de Deus, fazer igual aquele povo fez: perder o foco e fazer os pedidos errados para Deus. E aà as conseqüências podem ser muito ruins.
Cuidado com o que você pede para Deus porque Ele pode responder!
