The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, after Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, hath sent him from Ramah, in his taking him -- and he a prisoner in chains -- in the midst of all the removal of Jerusalem and of Judah, who are removed to Babylon.

And the chief of the executioners taketh Jeremiah, and saith unto him, `Jehovah thy God hath spoken this evil concerning this place,

and Jehovah bringeth [it] in, and doth as He spake, because ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not hearkened to His voice, even this thing hath been to you.

`And now, lo, I have loosed thee to-day from the chains that [are] on thy hand; if good in thine eyes to come with me [to] Babylon, come, and I keep mine eye upon thee: and if evil in thine eyes to come with me to Babylon, forbear; see, all the land [is] before thee, whither [it be] good, and whither [it be] right in thine eyes to go -- go.` --

and while he doth not reply -- `Or turn back unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath appointed over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him in the midst of the people, or whithersoever it is right in thine eyes to go -- go.` And the chief of the executioners giveth to him for the way, and a gift, and sendeth him away,

and Jeremiah cometh in unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and dwelleth with him, in the midst of the people who are left in the land.

And all the heads of the forces that [are] in the field hear, they and their men, that the king of Babylon hath appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam over the land, and that he hath charged him [with] men, and women, and infants, and of the poor of the land, of those who have not been removed to Babylon;

and they come in unto Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan sons of Kareah, and Seraiah son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah son of the Maachathite, they and their men.

And swear to them doth Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, and to their men, saying, `Be not afraid of serving the Chaldeans, abide in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it is well for you;

and I, lo, I am dwelling in Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who are come in unto us, and ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruit, and oil, and put in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.`

AS PERNINHAS DA MENTIRA

Encontrei uma pesquisa na internet, perguntando a opinião de todos os internautas que quisessem responder sobre “as pernas curtas da mentira”. E a pergunta era: “Você acredita que a verdade sempre vem a tona? E que a mentira tem pernas curtas?”
O que você acha que as pessoas responderam? E o que você responderia? O resultado da pesquisa foi que apenas 13% das pessoas disseram “não”. Ou seja, apenas 13% das pessoas disseram acreditar que nem sempre a verdade vem à tona e que nem sempre a mentira tenha as pernas curtas. A maioria, 87% dos internautas responderam que acreditam que a verdade sempre, mais cedo ou mais tarde, virá à tona e que a mentira sempre terá as pernas curtas.
O que eu achei mais interessante nessa pesquisa foi que entre os 13% das pessoas que não acreditam que toda mentira seja um dia revelada, nenhum internauta defendeu a mentira. Acredita? Ou seja, as pessoas sabem que o correto é sempre dizer a verdade. As pessoas sabem que a mentira não compensa, mas mesmo assim mentem. As pessoas mentem iludidas de que sua mentira não será revelada, desacreditando do velho ditado popular.
Iludido por isso, o mentiroso entra numa teia de situações emaranhadas na qual tem que fazer uma mentira atrás da outra para encobrir a primeira. Já viu como é assim? Se você fizer a primeira mentira, depois terá que fazer outras mentiras para cobrir aquela primeira, depois outras mentiras para não revelar as mentiras anteriores e assim vai... É uma armadilha terrível! O problema só será resolvido no dia em que a mentira original for revelada.
Se quiser uma prova disso, faça a leitura de hoje. Veja que novela os irmãos de José se encontravam tendo que fazer várias manobras para sustentar uma verdade que não existia. O constrangimento que eles passaram com o que se passou com Benjamim, a sinuca na qual eles colocaram o pai deles até José revelar a verdade.
Como aqueles homens devem ter ficado com vergonha! Já tinha passado tanto tempo. Eles achavam que nunca seriam descobertos. Doce ilusão! Cumpriu-se novamente o dito popular que virou lei. É que isso é bíblico. Os 13% que disseram que tem mentira que nunca será descoberta, se esqueceram ou então desconhecem daquilo que a Bíblia diz em Eclesiastes 12:14.
Toda verdade, mais cedo ou mais tarde, virá à tona? Toda mentira tem as pernas curtas? E o resultado? Espero que o resultado seja pelo menos parecido com o que aconteceu na história de Gênesis.
Mas mesmo que não for, lembre-se: o melhor sempre será revelar a verdade! Não se iluda!
