The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, after Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, hath sent him from Ramah, in his taking him -- and he a prisoner in chains -- in the midst of all the removal of Jerusalem and of Judah, who are removed to Babylon.

And the chief of the executioners taketh Jeremiah, and saith unto him, `Jehovah thy God hath spoken this evil concerning this place,

and Jehovah bringeth [it] in, and doth as He spake, because ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not hearkened to His voice, even this thing hath been to you.

`And now, lo, I have loosed thee to-day from the chains that [are] on thy hand; if good in thine eyes to come with me [to] Babylon, come, and I keep mine eye upon thee: and if evil in thine eyes to come with me to Babylon, forbear; see, all the land [is] before thee, whither [it be] good, and whither [it be] right in thine eyes to go -- go.` --

and while he doth not reply -- `Or turn back unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath appointed over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him in the midst of the people, or whithersoever it is right in thine eyes to go -- go.` And the chief of the executioners giveth to him for the way, and a gift, and sendeth him away,

and Jeremiah cometh in unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and dwelleth with him, in the midst of the people who are left in the land.

And all the heads of the forces that [are] in the field hear, they and their men, that the king of Babylon hath appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam over the land, and that he hath charged him [with] men, and women, and infants, and of the poor of the land, of those who have not been removed to Babylon;

and they come in unto Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan sons of Kareah, and Seraiah son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah son of the Maachathite, they and their men.

And swear to them doth Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, and to their men, saying, `Be not afraid of serving the Chaldeans, abide in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it is well for you;

“FELIZ PÁSCOA” ATRASADO? NÃO!

Ontem começamos a ler o livro de Esdras e já lemos praticamente um terço dele. Sua leitura é bem rápida. Até amanhã, já teremos lido o livro inteiro. Então, para não perder o pique, anote os capítulos que você deve ler neste dia.
No relato de hoje, há muitos fatos importantes, mas um dos mais destacados é a celebração da Páscoa. E quando você ler sobre essa Páscoa aí de Esdras, verá que ela é muito diferente ou, eu até diria, que não tem nada a ver com a Páscoa que é celebrada atualmente no nosso mundo moderno. Por quê?
Bem, estamos no dia 23 de maio, e a Páscoa já passou. Mas como a comemoração da Páscoa hoje em dia não está relacionada com a verdadeira origem da Páscoa, quero aproveitar nossa leitura para falar sobre o assunto e fazer alguns comentários sobre essa celebração. Afinal, a proposta do nosso programa não é comentar o calendário cívico, mas sim a leitura bíblica do dia.
Tem gente que pergunta: “É certo comemorar a Páscoa?” O que você acha? Particularmente, creio, com toda convicção, que sim, porque Jesus a comemorou. Podemos confirmar isso em Lucas 2:41-43, Mateus 26:18-30 e João 13-17. Agora, qual é a verdadeira comemoração da páscoa?
Em Mateus 26:17 em diante, é narrada a celebração da última Páscoa em que Jesus participou com Seus discípulos. A partir do verso 26, está a instituição dela por Jesus, oferecendo sua vida, simbolicamente representada pelo pão, sua carne, e pelo vinho, seu sangue, que Ele derramaria no Calvário para remissão dos pecados de muitos.
A Páscoa cristã, na verdade, é celebrada no coração de cada cristão que oferece a Deus sua própria vida, salva pelo Cordeiro Divino, que tem vida eterna em Si mesmo, podendo assim, ser o cordeiro de toda família humana que O aceite como tal. Temos como agir assim sempre. Por isso há um texto sobre a Páscoa na leitura de hoje e, mesmo fora da data do calendário, chamo sua atenção para a verdadeira páscoa, que é ter Jesus no coração.
Em 1Coríntios 5:7-8, está escrito: “Alimpai-vos, pois do fermento velho, para que sejais uma nova massa. ... Porque Cristo, nossa Páscoa, foi sacrificado por nós. Pelo que façamos festa, não com o fermento velho, nem com o fermento da maldade e da malícia, mas com os asmos da sinceridade e da verdade.” Na Páscoa cristã, quando temos recebido Jesus como nosso cordeiro pascal, devemos estar conscientes de que também somos peregrinos apenas de passagem por esta Terra e aguardamos novos céus e nova terra (Apocalipse 21:1 e 2Pedro 3:13). Amém!
