The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, after Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, hath sent him from Ramah, in his taking him -- and he a prisoner in chains -- in the midst of all the removal of Jerusalem and of Judah, who are removed to Babylon.

And the chief of the executioners taketh Jeremiah, and saith unto him, `Jehovah thy God hath spoken this evil concerning this place,

and Jehovah bringeth [it] in, and doth as He spake, because ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not hearkened to His voice, even this thing hath been to you.

`And now, lo, I have loosed thee to-day from the chains that [are] on thy hand; if good in thine eyes to come with me [to] Babylon, come, and I keep mine eye upon thee: and if evil in thine eyes to come with me to Babylon, forbear; see, all the land [is] before thee, whither [it be] good, and whither [it be] right in thine eyes to go -- go.` --

and while he doth not reply -- `Or turn back unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath appointed over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him in the midst of the people, or whithersoever it is right in thine eyes to go -- go.` And the chief of the executioners giveth to him for the way, and a gift, and sendeth him away,

and Jeremiah cometh in unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and dwelleth with him, in the midst of the people who are left in the land.

And all the heads of the forces that [are] in the field hear, they and their men, that the king of Babylon hath appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam over the land, and that he hath charged him [with] men, and women, and infants, and of the poor of the land, of those who have not been removed to Babylon;

and they come in unto Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan sons of Kareah, and Seraiah son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah son of the Maachathite, they and their men.

And swear to them doth Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, and to their men, saying, `Be not afraid of serving the Chaldeans, abide in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it is well for you;

and I, lo, I am dwelling in Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who are come in unto us, and ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruit, and oil, and put in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.`

DÊ ATENÇÃO!
Juízes 11-12
De toda a leitura bíblica de hoje, teve um verso que me chamou a atenção: “Entretanto, o rei de Amom não deu atenção à mensagem de Jefté” (Juízes 11:28). Você prestou bastante atenção nessas palavras? As palavras desse verso saltaram aos meus olhos porque eu já sabia que Jefté era um representante de Deus, um homem de Deus, que trabalhava para Deus. E a Bíblia faz questão de mencionar que o rei de Amon não deu atenção à mensagem dEle?
Ao continuar a leitura do texto, vemos o resultado. A leitura bíblica de hoje é muito fácil de entender. Ela nos mostra sobre como acontecem as vitórias e as derrotas no Senhor, sobre como é a luta do povo de Deus e, também, que mesmo entre os líderes, as pessoas públicas, existem as dificuldades. Os grandes também choram. Essa é a realidade.
Você chora? Qual é o seu tipo de choro? Existem choros bons e choros ruins, sabia? Por exemplo, os choros que foram levantados na casa do governador de Israel, Jefté, por causa da filha dele. Eram choros por causa de uma coisa nobre, que era a dedicação da filha dele ao serviço do Senhor. Choro de quem somente iria ficar com saudade, mas sabiam que estavam crescendo. Agora, eu fico imaginando como deve ter sido o choro dos amonitas que sobreviveram para chorar. Deve ter sido terrível. Naquela situação, teria sido melhor não ter sobrevivido para não ter que chorar.
Na realidade, o rei dos amonitas foi muito burro. Ele não deu atenção à mensagem de Deus. Como foi prepotente em querer saber mais que Deus! O Senhor, o Todo-poderoso, Criador do Céu e da Terra, que sabe de todas as coisas e quer dar o melhor para nós está dizendo: “Vá por aqui que é melhor. Não vá por ali porque é perigoso”..., e o camarada tem a audácia de fazer o contrário.
Sabe, quando Deus diz: “Evite a cachaça!” é porque Ele já olha lá na frente e vê as famílias divididas, os acidentes de trânsito, o desemprego, a pobreza. Quando Ele diz: “Estude”, é porque sabe que, no futuro, você precisará de um emprego. Quando diz para se manter puro sexualmente, é porque Ele sabe do estrago emocional ou da felicidade familiar que aguarda você. Quando Ele pede para não trairmos nosso cônjuge, é porque não quer nos ver infelizes. É só isso. Ele quer nosso bem. Porém, se não damos ouvidos a Ele, aí não temos como escapar das conseqüências. Veja o que aconteceu com o rei de Amom.
