The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, after Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, hath sent him from Ramah, in his taking him -- and he a prisoner in chains -- in the midst of all the removal of Jerusalem and of Judah, who are removed to Babylon.

And the chief of the executioners taketh Jeremiah, and saith unto him, `Jehovah thy God hath spoken this evil concerning this place,

and Jehovah bringeth [it] in, and doth as He spake, because ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not hearkened to His voice, even this thing hath been to you.

`And now, lo, I have loosed thee to-day from the chains that [are] on thy hand; if good in thine eyes to come with me [to] Babylon, come, and I keep mine eye upon thee: and if evil in thine eyes to come with me to Babylon, forbear; see, all the land [is] before thee, whither [it be] good, and whither [it be] right in thine eyes to go -- go.` --

and while he doth not reply -- `Or turn back unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath appointed over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him in the midst of the people, or whithersoever it is right in thine eyes to go -- go.` And the chief of the executioners giveth to him for the way, and a gift, and sendeth him away,

and Jeremiah cometh in unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and dwelleth with him, in the midst of the people who are left in the land.

And all the heads of the forces that [are] in the field hear, they and their men, that the king of Babylon hath appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam over the land, and that he hath charged him [with] men, and women, and infants, and of the poor of the land, of those who have not been removed to Babylon;

and they come in unto Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan sons of Kareah, and Seraiah son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah son of the Maachathite, they and their men.

And swear to them doth Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, and to their men, saying, `Be not afraid of serving the Chaldeans, abide in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it is well for you;

and I, lo, I am dwelling in Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who are come in unto us, and ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruit, and oil, and put in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.`

POSIÇÃO PRA ORAÇÃO!

Você já fez sua oração hoje? Sim? E como você faz sua oração? Estou perguntando isso porque tem muita gente que escreve para nós, da equipe da Escola Bíblica, para perguntar se a única posição física correta para se fazer uma oração seria de joelhos. Será que só podemos orar se estivermos ajoelhados? E se fizermos uma oração em alguma outra posição corporal que não for de joelhos, será que vai ser respondida?
O que você acha? Devemos orar apenas de joelhos? Você sabe que existem alguns que chegam até o absurdo de dizer que Deus não aprova outra forma de falar com Ele, se não for de joelhos?
É interessante observarmos o seguinte: com respeito à maneira sobre como devemos orar, na Bíblia, não existe um único texto que indique ser “de joelhos” a única maneira correta para orar, mesmo sendo esta a forma padrão de se fazer uma oração. Sabe por quê? Para Deus, o que mais importa não é a posição corporal com a qual oramos; o importante é que tenhamos comunhão com Ele. De uma maneira ou de outra, nossa oração é ouvida pelo Criador quando caminhamos pela rua, nos momentos em que trabalhamos, quando oramos em voz alta, quando você ora só em pensamentos...
Justamente pelo fato de que nossa vida deve ser uma constante oração, e nem sempre vamos estar em locais apropriados para orar de joelhos, quando Jesus ensinou os discípulos a orar, não fez a mínima referência de que devêssemos orar apenas de joelhos. Se este fosse um assunto vital, será que Ele não teria mencionado?
Na leitura de hoje, vemos o exemplo de uma pessoa que não orou de joelhos, e sua oração foi atendida. O rei Ezequias estava deitado (ver também Isaías 38), virou para o canto, fez uma oração a Deus. Essa oração foi historicamente respondida. Até Jesus orou muitas vezes sem ser de joelhos.
A posição corporal ideal para se fazer uma oração é de joelhos. Mas existem momentos em que não será possível orar assim. Apesar disso, Deus ouve todas as preces, independentemente de que posição física o ser humano suplicante esteja.
Isso me leva a pedir duas coisas:
1. Ao fazer sua leitura bíblica de hoje, enquanto estiver lendo, vá orando também para que o Espírito Santo lhe mostre, através desse texto, o que faz uma oração ser realmente respondida. Combinado?
2. Gostaria de orar por você, posso? Então, independentemente de onde você esteja, eleve seu pensamento a Deus através das seguintes palavras: Deus Eterno, abençoe este filho ou filha neste momento, concedendo a Tua paz. Em nome de Jesus, agradeço, amém!
