The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, after Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, hath sent him from Ramah, in his taking him -- and he a prisoner in chains -- in the midst of all the removal of Jerusalem and of Judah, who are removed to Babylon.

And the chief of the executioners taketh Jeremiah, and saith unto him, `Jehovah thy God hath spoken this evil concerning this place,

and Jehovah bringeth [it] in, and doth as He spake, because ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not hearkened to His voice, even this thing hath been to you.

`And now, lo, I have loosed thee to-day from the chains that [are] on thy hand; if good in thine eyes to come with me [to] Babylon, come, and I keep mine eye upon thee: and if evil in thine eyes to come with me to Babylon, forbear; see, all the land [is] before thee, whither [it be] good, and whither [it be] right in thine eyes to go -- go.` --

and while he doth not reply -- `Or turn back unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath appointed over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him in the midst of the people, or whithersoever it is right in thine eyes to go -- go.` And the chief of the executioners giveth to him for the way, and a gift, and sendeth him away,

and Jeremiah cometh in unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and dwelleth with him, in the midst of the people who are left in the land.

And all the heads of the forces that [are] in the field hear, they and their men, that the king of Babylon hath appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam over the land, and that he hath charged him [with] men, and women, and infants, and of the poor of the land, of those who have not been removed to Babylon;

and they come in unto Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan sons of Kareah, and Seraiah son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah son of the Maachathite, they and their men.

And swear to them doth Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, and to their men, saying, `Be not afraid of serving the Chaldeans, abide in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it is well for you;

and I, lo, I am dwelling in Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans who are come in unto us, and ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruit, and oil, and put in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.`

COMO EZEQUIEL
Ezequiel 04-07
“Com exceção de uns poucos capítulos, o livro de Ezequiel é talvez um dos mais desconhecidos da Bíblia”. Esta é a opinião de Arnold Wallenkampf, em seu livro “Ezequiel Fala Outra Vez”. E este autor tem autoridade para falar isso, pois ele teve uma larga experiência no ministério da investigação bíblica. Durante muitos anos, este teólogo dirigiu o Instituto Mundial de Pesquisas Bíblicas, em Washington. Então, podemos dizer que ele sabe muito bem o que está falando quando diz que “com exceção de uns poucos capítulos, o livro de Ezequiel é talvez um dos mais desconhecidos da Bíblia”. E esta repetição é proposital.
Quero que fique bem frisada em sua mente, a necessidade de realmente estudar o livro de Ezequiel. Você precisa conhecer este profeta, diretamente da Bíblia. Depois que Arnold o fez, no seu livro ele pode descrever Ezequiel bibliograficamente de uma maneira fantástica, que podemos resumir aqui como um pequeno excerto. Segundo ele, esse profeta foi levado cativo para Babilônia antes da queda de Jerusalém. Mas depois deste evento, ele permaneceu na terra dos babilônicos, o que justifica o fato de que suas mensagens sejam dirigidas tanto ao povo de Jerusalém como aos exilados de Babilônia. E o presente que ele oferece ao leitor ao autorar esse livro bíblico é apresentar uma imagem de Deus que revela tanto Sua bondade quanto sua firmeza disciplinar, mesmo que isso exceda a todas as expectativas e compreensões humanas de maneira plena.
Imaginação brilhante e fé profunda. Estas foram duas características que casaram-se muito bem na personalidade de Ezequiel. Com isto, ele logrou perceber as revelações divinas em forma de visões, valeu-se de vívidas ações simbólicas, e conseguiu transmitir sua mensagem com sucesso. Quanto à responsabilidade individual pelo pecado e também quanto à necessidade de uma renovação completa do espírito, ele bateu forte nessas teclas. Em alto e bom som, proclamou a esperança que tinha de que a acontecesse, naquela nação, a união. E, por ser sacerdote, honrou esse título na insistência em defender a necessidade da santificação e a construção do templo, no futuro.
Ou seja, Ezequiel foi um apaixonado pela obra de Deus. E, por ela, ele deu o sangue. Hoje é raro encontrar homens assim. Tanto é que o próprio Ezequiel quase nem é mais conhecido entre as pessoas. E este é o nosso desafio. Você é apaixonado pela obra do Senhor? Se sim, terá alegria ao ler Ezequiel, e identificar-se com ele. Se não, você precisa lê-lo urgentemente. Se não der o melhor nem em ler este livro, como conseguirá dar o sangue para a causa de Cristo? Os filhos de Deus precisam de você.
