And it cometh to pass, in the seventh month, come hath Ishmael son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and of the chiefs of the king, and ten men with him, unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and they eat there bread together in Mizpah.

And Ishmael son of Nethaniah riseth, and the ten men who have been with him, and they smite Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, with the sword, and he putteth him to death whom the king of Babylon hath appointed over the land.

And all the Jews who have been with him, with Gedaliah, in Mizpah, and the Chaldeans who have been found there -- the men of war -- hath Ishmael smitten.

that men come in from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria -- eighty men -- with shaven beards, and rent garments, and cutting themselves, and an offering and frankincense in their hand, to bring in to the house of Jehovah.

And Ishmael son of Nethaniah goeth forth to meet them, from Mizpah, going on and weeping, and it cometh to pass, at meeting them, that he saith unto them, `Come in unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam.`

And it cometh to pass, at their coming in unto the midst of the city, that Ishmael son of Nethaniah doth slaughter them, at the midst of the pit, he and the men who [are] with him.

And ten men have been found among them, and they say unto Ishmael, `Do not put us to death, for we have things hidden in the field -- wheat, and barley, and oil, and honey.` And he forbeareth, and hath not put them to death in the midst of their brethren.

And the pit whither Ishmael hath cast all the carcases of the men whom he hath smitten along with Gedaliah, is that which the king Asa made because of Baasha king of Israel -- it hath Ishmael son of Nethaniah filled with the pierced.

And Ishmael taketh captive all the remnant of the people who [are] in Mizpah, the daughters of the king, and all the people who are left in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, hath committed [to] Gedaliah son of Ahikam, and Ishmael son of Nethaniah taketh them captive, and goeth to pass over unto the sons of Ammon.

FAZENDO CONTABILIDADE NA BÍBLIA
Números 07-08
Quando fiz Processamento de Dados, tive algumas matérias me marcaram muito. Algumas delas eram da área de Contabilidade, mas eu não gostava tanto delas. Mesmo assim, sabia que eram absolutamente necessárias. E, ironicamente, apesar de não apreciá-las, era apaixonado por elas! E na necessidade de envolver-me com elas, eu me debruçava em cima dos conhecimentos contábeis, por obrigação. Lembro-me do desafio de fazer e fechar balancetes. Uma vez, passei quase a noite inteira “brigando” com um balancete.
O mais interessante eram as provas. O professor dava um problema. para fecharmos um balancete, e ficávamos nos matando em cima daquelas continhas “T”, por horas. No final, ou tirava a nota máxima, ou tirava zero. E o que mais me deixava intrigado era o fato de que o professor já nos fornecia o resultado final, antes de começarmos a fazer a prova. Eu ficava louco com aquilo. O importante não era saber qual era o número final, mas sim, como chegar até ele. Logo, se alguém quisesse colar, não teria como. O negócio era fazer os cálculos: números e mais números. A parte que eu gostava era comparar minha prova com as dos colegas, despois que o professor as devolvia. As que estavam certas eram exatamente iguais. Incrível! Se um detalhezinho estivesse diferente, tudo estaria errado, e o resultado seria desastroso. Foi Deus quem criou os números, as quantidades, as operações numéricas – a matemática. Por isso, ela é tão perfeita. E nessa, o importante não é o todo, mas sim os detalhes.
Os leitores superficiais precisam tomar cuidado. Há pessoas que quando se deparam com Números 7 e leem sobre o primeiro dia, quando Nasson trouxe sua oferta, e logo em seguida, quando leem sobre o segundo dia e começam a perceber que parece que a oferta de Natanael era igualzinha têm a tentação de dar apenas uma olhada por cima e pular lá para o final do capítulo ou para o seguinte. Não! Espere aí! Será que é iguazinho mesmo? E se não for? Será que isso importa?
Vou lhe fazer um desafio. Assim como um contabilista, tenha o compromisso de fazer um trabalho minucioso sobre “Números”, comparando todos os dados. Será que são todos exatamente iguais ou diferentes? Se forem iguais, você chegará ao final boquiaberto ao concluir: “Como Deus é organizado, minucioso, e detalhista!” E então entenderá porque está tudo ali: Deus dá a prova. Se não forem iguais, você terá um desafio maior (mas terá um aproveitamento maior ainda): responder à seguinte pergunta, para cada diferença que encontrar: “Por que só esse detalhezinho aqui é diferente?” O que ele tem a ensinar?
