And it cometh to pass, in the seventh month, come hath Ishmael son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and of the chiefs of the king, and ten men with him, unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and they eat there bread together in Mizpah.

And Ishmael son of Nethaniah riseth, and the ten men who have been with him, and they smite Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, with the sword, and he putteth him to death whom the king of Babylon hath appointed over the land.

And all the Jews who have been with him, with Gedaliah, in Mizpah, and the Chaldeans who have been found there -- the men of war -- hath Ishmael smitten.

And it cometh to pass, on the second day of the putting of Gedaliah to death, (and no one hath known,)

that men come in from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria -- eighty men -- with shaven beards, and rent garments, and cutting themselves, and an offering and frankincense in their hand, to bring in to the house of Jehovah.

And Ishmael son of Nethaniah goeth forth to meet them, from Mizpah, going on and weeping, and it cometh to pass, at meeting them, that he saith unto them, `Come in unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam.`

And it cometh to pass, at their coming in unto the midst of the city, that Ishmael son of Nethaniah doth slaughter them, at the midst of the pit, he and the men who [are] with him.

And ten men have been found among them, and they say unto Ishmael, `Do not put us to death, for we have things hidden in the field -- wheat, and barley, and oil, and honey.` And he forbeareth, and hath not put them to death in the midst of their brethren.

And the pit whither Ishmael hath cast all the carcases of the men whom he hath smitten along with Gedaliah, is that which the king Asa made because of Baasha king of Israel -- it hath Ishmael son of Nethaniah filled with the pierced.

And Ishmael taketh captive all the remnant of the people who [are] in Mizpah, the daughters of the king, and all the people who are left in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, hath committed [to] Gedaliah son of Ahikam, and Ishmael son of Nethaniah taketh them captive, and goeth to pass over unto the sons of Ammon.

PROJETO DE VIDA – PARTE 1
1Samuel 20-23
Nos próximos três comentários, quero dar algumas dicas sobre como sermos bem-sucedidos na vida, pensando no fato de que o personagem da leitura bíblica de hoje foi um sucesso. Estou falando do rei Davi. Através da história dele, quero considerar com você sobre como vencer na vida.
Em primeiro lugar, devemos tomar as grandes decisões da vida não “por causa de”, mas sim “para”, “com objetivo de”. Um exemplo disso pode ser visto na escolha de uma profissão. Se alguém pensa: “Vou trabalhar em postos de gasolina porque meu pai tem postos de gasolina. Apesar de não gosto disso, é isso que está fácil para mim.” Com certeza, essa pessoa nunca será um profissional de sucesso por excelência. Será mais um que, na mediocridade dos outros, “empurrará a profissão com a barriga”, não servirá a sociedade com uma motivação brilhante e será um infeliz. É muito diferente de alguém que toma a seguinte posição: “Bem, não sei fazer outra coisa na vida. Cresci no posto de gasolina porque é com isso que meu pai mexe, mas gostaria de ser veterinário. Então, vou montar um projeto de vida, fazer os cálculos, um cronograma e comunicar a todos que farei uma troca de benefício com a profissão de trabalhar em posto de gasolina. Vou servir a esta profissão e zelar por ela com carinho, porque ela servirá para que eu consiga transformar-me (estudar, inserir-se no mercado de trabalho) em um veterinário. Minha profissão não será no posto, será como veterinário.” Você percebe a diferença? A profissão passa a ser um projeto de vida, e não um “por causa de”. Com o projeto, nos relacionamos, dominando-o. Assim, continuamos sendo nós mesmos. Com o “por causa de”, nos relacionamos sendo dominados e então seguimos a vida como escravos.
Sabe quais são as grandes decisões da vida? A quem vou amar (casamento), servir (profissão) e adorar (religião). Há outras grandes decisões/áreas também, mas essas três são as principais. E para continuar sendo indivíduos, que se encontram e são felizes, precisamos tomar essas decisões através de projetos planejados, pensados com antecedência, calculados e cronometrados.
Amanhã, continuarei falando sobre isso, mas, se você quiser, já pode começar a montar seu projeto. Hoje, dê o primeiro passo para o sucesso, que é observar os passos de um homem bem-sucedido, nosso querido personagem bíblico Davi.
Descubra o sucesso dele fazendo sua leitura no livro de Samuel. Talvez não veja muito sucesso no começo dessa história, mas lembre-se de que todo vitorioso passa pela “fase do ralo”. Então, se existe algo que está difícil para você, não desanime! É parte do processo de crescimento!
