And it cometh to pass, in the seventh month, come hath Ishmael son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and of the chiefs of the king, and ten men with him, unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and they eat there bread together in Mizpah.

And Ishmael son of Nethaniah riseth, and the ten men who have been with him, and they smite Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, with the sword, and he putteth him to death whom the king of Babylon hath appointed over the land.

And all the Jews who have been with him, with Gedaliah, in Mizpah, and the Chaldeans who have been found there -- the men of war -- hath Ishmael smitten.

And it cometh to pass, on the second day of the putting of Gedaliah to death, (and no one hath known,)

that men come in from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria -- eighty men -- with shaven beards, and rent garments, and cutting themselves, and an offering and frankincense in their hand, to bring in to the house of Jehovah.

And Ishmael son of Nethaniah goeth forth to meet them, from Mizpah, going on and weeping, and it cometh to pass, at meeting them, that he saith unto them, `Come in unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam.`

And it cometh to pass, at their coming in unto the midst of the city, that Ishmael son of Nethaniah doth slaughter them, at the midst of the pit, he and the men who [are] with him.

And ten men have been found among them, and they say unto Ishmael, `Do not put us to death, for we have things hidden in the field -- wheat, and barley, and oil, and honey.` And he forbeareth, and hath not put them to death in the midst of their brethren.

And the pit whither Ishmael hath cast all the carcases of the men whom he hath smitten along with Gedaliah, is that which the king Asa made because of Baasha king of Israel -- it hath Ishmael son of Nethaniah filled with the pierced.

And Ishmael taketh captive all the remnant of the people who [are] in Mizpah, the daughters of the king, and all the people who are left in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, hath committed [to] Gedaliah son of Ahikam, and Ishmael son of Nethaniah taketh them captive, and goeth to pass over unto the sons of Ammon.

O que você pensa sobre sua aposentadoria? Talvez, por não ser aposentado pense que esta pergunta não seja para você. Mas ela é tanto para os já aposentados, quanto para quem, um dia, se aposentará. Se você já é aposentado deve estar refletindo, agora, sobre o tamanho da remessa, o que dá pra se fazer com o dinheiro, o que fica a desejar, etc.
O Brasil tem quase 25 milhões de aposentados. Mais da metade deles recebe apenas um salário mínimo. E assim, muitos ficam à mercê da ajuda financeira dos parentes e amigos. Consequentemente, perto de dez milhões de brasileiros aposentados ainda trabalham para complementar o benefício que recebem.
E então, o que você acha da sua aposentadoria? É o que nos aguarda, meu amigo. Um dia, cada um de nós será um aposentado, uma aposentada. Não que você será um beneficiado com apenas um salário mínimo. E também, apesar de que muitos aposentados dependam do salário mínimo, mesmo assim, os idosos brasileiros estão mais protegidos da pobreza que o resto da população. Mas, com certeza, a tendência é a de que todos nós, um dia, fiquemos dependentes de algum plano previdenciário.
Hoje, você termina de ler o livro de Jeremias, nos capítulos 51 e 52. Mas nem por isso deixe sua leitura aposentada. Estamos falando de aposentadoria simplesmente porque a Bíblia termina o livro de Jeremias mostrando o destino do Joaquim. E trata-se de um dos casos de registro de aposentadoria mais antigos da História. É claro, naquela época não havia os planos de seguros previdenciários que existem atualmente. Mas houve um segurado previdenciário, no sistema babilônico de Nabucodonosor. Joaquim tivera uma carreira de servidor público, servindo ao povo de Deus. Tudo bem, que ele não fora perfeito, todavia, mesmo assim, por misericórdia, Deus cuidou dele. Apesar de não ter sido perfeito, ele trabalhara para Deus.
Provavelmente, ao longo do ano, sua leitura bíblica não esteja sendo tão bem feita, o quanto você gostaria que fosse. Mas faça sua parte, em servir a Deus, também, através do estudo da Sua Palavra. Ela traz descanso para a alma, alivia a canseira da mente e faz com que não vivamos com o espírito fatigado.
Tudo isso é uma preparação para quem quiser ser um beneficiado com o seguro celestial, que é a vida eterna que Deus tem nos preparado. O plano previdenciário de Deus é perfeito, porque vai durar pela eternidade. Naquele dia, você irá quer receber o convite: “venha, entre no descanso do seu Senhor”?. Então aproveite o magro descanso de hoje, malhando no esforço da leitura bíblica. E, no amanhã, Deus lhe dará o descanso pleno.
