The word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, after that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the body-guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him, being bound in chains, among all the captivity of Jerusalem and Judah, that were carried away captive to Babylon.

And the captain of the body-guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, Jehovah thy God pronounced this evil upon this place,

and Jehovah hath brought [it about] and done according as he said; for ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not hearkened unto his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.

And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains that are upon thy hand. If it seem good in thy sight to come with me to Babylon, come, and I will keep mine eye upon thee; but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me to Babylon, forbear. See, all the land is before thee: whither it seemeth good and right in thy sight to go, thither go.

And while he had not yet given answer; [he said,] Yea, go back to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath appointed over the cities of Judah, and abide with him in the midst of the people; or go wheresoever it seemeth right in thy sight to go. And the captain of the body-guard gave him provisions and a present, and let him go.

And Jeremiah came unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah, and abode with him among the people that remained in the land.

And all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam over the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that had not been carried away captive to Babylon.

And they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah; even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.

And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan swore unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

And as for me, behold, I dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans, who will come unto us; and ye, gather wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put [them] in your vessels, and dwell in your cities which ye have taken.

PERSEVERANÇA BÍBLICA
Jeremias 36-38
A leitura bíblica de hoje está fantástica! Em Jeremias 36, o profeta, simplesmente, desaparece de cena para dar lugar à palavra de Deus, que deve ser anunciada, publicamente, a todos. E nessa jogada, o profeta não é nada mais que o porta-voz dessa palavra. Serviço de profeta mesmo: ser porta-voz. Isso lhe sugere algo? Que lugar a Palavra de Deus ocupa na sua vida? Lendo este capítulo, pense nisso. As Escrituras, para você, é mais um apetrecho deixado pelos cantos? Ou, pelo contrário, você ama tanto a Bíblia e gosta tanto de lê-la, a ponto de não contentar-se, e querer que todo mundo também saiba o quanto ela é boa? Você tem procurado exaltar a palavra de Deus?
Assim como naqueles dias sombrios do Israel Antigo o rolo de Jeremias pôde ser encontrado, você também, por mais sombria que esteja a sua vida, pode encontrar um refúgio na Palavra de Deus. E, ao ler isto, talvez você esteja pensando:
- É... mas não é fácil!
Sabemos! Sabemos que não é fácil. Principalmente, se você for ousado. Quando ousaram ler as palavras de Jeremias diante dos príncipes, a coisa ficou feia. O rei, descaradamente, pegou a “Bíblia” e tacou no fogo. E, ao apelarmos, aqui, para que você leia a Bíblia, não podemos prometer-lhe que, por isso, todas as demais coisas serão um mar-de-rosas. Não! É preciso ter a clara consciência de que, muitas vezes, quando apelamos para a Palavra de Deus, estamos, literalmente, jogando em um campo de fogo cruzado, na batalha do bem contra o mal. Às vezes, é preciso ter muita fé e persistência.
Mas, para quem é fiel não existe a palavra desistência. Você vai encontrar, na leitura de hoje, um camarada chamado Baruque que, mesmo depois de ter visto a situação sapecar-se na linha de fogo de um indignado rei do mal, não se intimidou em reemitir a Palavra do Senhor. A vantagem do aviso sobre as dificuldades que alguém que resolve estar ao lado de Cristo pode passar, é a de que, quando tais dificuldades surgirem, a lembrança desses exemplos bíblicos proporcione fôlego e alento. É necessário erguer a cabeça e não desistir.
Fazendo isso, mesmo que, em algum momento, experimente o fundo do poço (como aconteceu com o profeta - Jeremias 37), saiba que, para você, sempre haverá uma salvação disponível a ser alcançada e desfrutada. Olhe para o capítulo 38. Um camarada “nada a ver” veio e salvou Jeremias. E, além de ter sido salvo de uma maneira louca, ele pôde permanecer em Jerusalém.
Persevere na palavra de Deus, receba a salvação, e você vai habitar na cidade de Deus.
