And Jeremiah came unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah, and abode with him among the people that remained in the land.

And all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam over the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that had not been carried away captive to Babylon.

And they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah; even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.

And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan swore unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

And as for me, behold, I dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans, who will come unto us; and ye, gather wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put [them] in your vessels, and dwell in your cities which ye have taken.

Likewise all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the children of Ammon and in Edom, and that were in all the lands, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant in Judah, and that he had appointed over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan;

and all the Jews returned out of all the places whither they had been driven, and came to the land of Judah to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits in great abundance.

And Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedaliah unto Mizpah,

and said unto him, Dost thou indeed know that Baalis the king of the children of Ammon hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to smite thee to death? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam believed them not.

And Johanan the son of Kareah spoke to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will smite Ishmael the son of Nethaniah and no man shall know it: why should he take thy life, and all they of Judah who are gathered unto thee be scattered, and the remnant of Judah perish?

EXISTE UM ANJO EM SUA CASA?
Atos 10-12
Em nossa reflexão sobre a leitura de hoje, com a ajuda de Harold Richards Junior, vamos ter em mente dois destaques: os anjos, e os seguintes versos:
“Na mesma hora chegaram à casa em que eu estava hospedado três homens que me haviam sido enviados de Cesaréia. O Espírito me disse que não hesitasse em ir com eles. Estes seis irmãos também foram comigo, e entramos na casa de um certo homem. Ele nos contou como um anjo lhe tinha aparecido em sua casa e dissera: ‘Mande buscar, em Jope, Simão, chamado Pedro. Ele lhe trará uma mensagem por meio da qual serão salvos você e todos os da sua casa’. (Atos 11:11-14)”.
De tempos em tempos, durante reuniões públicas, alguém corre à plataforma, interrompe o orador e pergunta: “Há algum médico no recinto? Se houver, por favor dirija-se ao saguão. Sua presença está sendo solicitada com urgência.”
É tempo de o povo de Deus fazer a pergunta: “Há algum anjo em casa?” Certamente espero que haja um anjo na sua casa – e na minha. Não me refiro a alguma pessoa boa, como uma esposa ou mãe amorosa. Em vez disso, refiro-me a um anjo de Deus.
Cornélio tinha um anjo em casa – isto é, um anjo que apareceu em forma corpórea, como homem. Oficial romano encarregado de um grupo de homens na sede militar romana de Cesaréria, Cornélio aprendera sobre o verdadeiro Deus e Lhe prestava adoração segundo o seu melhor conhecimento. Então o anjo lhe disse de repente como conseguir mais auxílio. Ele devia enviar uma mensagem a Jope, uma cidade alguns quilômetros ao sul, ao longo do litoral. Ali estaria um homem hospedado numa casa à beira-mar, de propriedade de outro homem. Pedro, o hóspede, viria e ajudaria Cornélio.
O anjo apareceu a Cornélio enquanto o oficial romano orava. É uma coisa maravilhosa ter um anjo em casa. E como seguidor de Jesus, você tem um em sua casa, o tempo todo com você. O livro de Atos apresenta vários casos de anjos ministradores. Quando as autoridades em Jerusalém puseram Pedro na prisão, “um anjo do Senhor” apareceu e operou sua libertação (Atos 12:7-10). A seguir, Pedro se dirigiu à casa onde a igreja orava por ele, bateu à porta e pedi que alguém o deixasse entrar. Crendo que ele ainda se encontrava na prisão, as pessoas da casa concluíram: “É o seu anjo.” Verso 15. É confortador saber que cada seguidor de Jesus tem um anjo da guarda. Há um anjo em sua casa hoje, vigiando-lo e guiando sua vida?
