|Esdras 3:1|
And the seventh month cometh, and the sons of Israel [are] in the cities, and the people are gathered, as one men, unto Jerusalem.

|Esdras 3:2|
And rise doth Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and they build the altar of the God of Israel, to cause to ascend upon it burnt-offerings, as it is written in the law of Moses, the man of God.

|Esdras 3:3|
And they establish the altar on its bases, because of the fear upon them of the peoples of the lands, and he causeth burnt-offerings to ascend upon it to Jehovah, burnt-offerings for the morning and for the evening.

And they make the feast of the booths as it is written, and the burnt-offering of the day daily in number according to the ordinance, the matter of a day in its day;

and after this a continual burnt-offering, and for new moons, and for all appointed seasons of Jehovah that are sanctified; and for every one who is willingly offering a willing-offering to Jehovah.

From the first day of the seventh month they have begun to cause burnt-offerings to ascend to Jehovah, and the temple of Jehovah hath not been founded,

and they give money to hewers and to artificers, and food, and drink, and oil to Zidonians and to Tyrians, to bring in cedar-trees from Lebanon unto the sea of Joppa, according to the permission of Cyrus king of Persia concerning them.

And in the second year of their coming in unto the house of God, to Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all those coming from the captivity to Jerusalem, and they appoint the Levites from a son of twenty years and upward, to overlook the work of the house of Jehovah.

And Jeshua standeth, [and] his sons, and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, sons of Judah together, to overlook those doing the work in the house of God; the sons of Henadad, [and] their sons and their brethren the Levites.

And those building have founded the temple of Jehovah, and they appoint the priests, clothed, with trumpets, and the Levites, sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise Jehovah, by means of [the instruments of] David king of Israel.

QUEM FOI ESDRAS?

Você lembra que comentei que a leitura do livro de Esdras seria rápida? Hoje, já estamos terminando de ler os últimos capÃtulos.
Neste comentário, quero falar um pouco mais sobre quem foi Esdras. Para tanto, usarei algumas referências bÃblicas da leitura bÃblica de hoje como apoio. Apesar de Esdras ter sido muito importante na época dele, já que marca a transição dos profetas e escribas, posteriormente a isso, as Escrituras não mencionam mais nada acerca dele.
Ele foi um sacerdote dos judeus, na Babilônia, reconhecido como um escriba, um escrivão-secretário muito diligente na lei de Moisés. Esdras era filho de SeraÃas, descendente de Arão. Sua história pública começou quando ele estava entre os cativos, na Babilônia. Ali, ele fez um pedido ao rei da Babilônia para que o permitisse regressar para visitar a Palestina. No capÃtulo 7, a BÃblia fala que Esdras era um homem muito bem preparado.
E através de um decreto do rei Artaxerxes, foi dada a Esdras a autoridade de reorganizar, baseado na lei de Moisés, a comunidade judia que tinha retornado para Judéia e Jerusalém depois do exÃlio deles em Babilônia. Isso aconteceu, segundo podemos comparar em Esdras 7:8, com as datas das olimpÃadas, o cânon de Ptolomeu, os papiros de Elefantina e alguns tabletes cuneiformes de Babilônia, no ano 457 a.C. Sobre esse decreto de Artaxerxes, podemos ver que, com base no que foi mencionado nele, os utensÃlios do templo judaico, que tinham sido confiscados, foram devolvidos e Esdras recebeu prata e ouro dos tesouros do rei.
Dessa forma, Esdras percebeu que Deus estava com ele em tudo o que estava acontecendo. Tanto é que no capÃtulo 8, podemos ver que ele pôs totalmente a sua confiança em Deus e até dispensou que tivesse uma escolta para protegê-lo na viajem para a Palestina.
Outra caracterÃstica interessante em Esdras era a sensibilidade de que o ser humano precisa fazer a sua parte na aliança com Deus. Esse homem de Deus repreendeu os viajantes que estavam retornando quando descobriu que os casamentos deles estavam errados. Muitas vezes, para fazer o bem, é preciso ser radical. E essa foi a postura de Esdras (ver capÃtulo 9). O correto, muitas vezes, dói muito, mas é bom. Esdras 10 mostra isso.
Se Deus permitir que alguma coisa seja tirada de você, não fique triste, revoltado, ou irado, com os punhos cerrados! Fique de mãos abertas, porque provavelmente, o que Deus esteja fazendo é deixar as suas mãos livres, prontas para receber um novo presente que Ele deve estar planejando para lhe dar. Lembre-se de que todas as coisas que possuÃmos são presentes especiais dados pelo Senhor!
