|Esdras 3:1|
And the seventh month cometh, and the sons of Israel [are] in the cities, and the people are gathered, as one men, unto Jerusalem.

|Esdras 3:2|
And rise doth Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and they build the altar of the God of Israel, to cause to ascend upon it burnt-offerings, as it is written in the law of Moses, the man of God.

|Esdras 3:3|
And they establish the altar on its bases, because of the fear upon them of the peoples of the lands, and he causeth burnt-offerings to ascend upon it to Jehovah, burnt-offerings for the morning and for the evening.

|Esdras 3:4|
And they make the feast of the booths as it is written, and the burnt-offering of the day daily in number according to the ordinance, the matter of a day in its day;

|Esdras 3:5|
and after this a continual burnt-offering, and for new moons, and for all appointed seasons of Jehovah that are sanctified; and for every one who is willingly offering a willing-offering to Jehovah.

From the first day of the seventh month they have begun to cause burnt-offerings to ascend to Jehovah, and the temple of Jehovah hath not been founded,

and they give money to hewers and to artificers, and food, and drink, and oil to Zidonians and to Tyrians, to bring in cedar-trees from Lebanon unto the sea of Joppa, according to the permission of Cyrus king of Persia concerning them.

And in the second year of their coming in unto the house of God, to Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all those coming from the captivity to Jerusalem, and they appoint the Levites from a son of twenty years and upward, to overlook the work of the house of Jehovah.

And Jeshua standeth, [and] his sons, and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, sons of Judah together, to overlook those doing the work in the house of God; the sons of Henadad, [and] their sons and their brethren the Levites.

And those building have founded the temple of Jehovah, and they appoint the priests, clothed, with trumpets, and the Levites, sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise Jehovah, by means of [the instruments of] David king of Israel.

Como está sua família? Ela é importante para você? Ou seu emprego e sua prosperidade são mais importantes? Quando você está passando por dificuldades, sua família ainda continua sendo prioridade? Bem, você conhece a história de Jó, não conhece? E quando pensamos nesse personagem, automaticamente pensamos em sofrimento, porque ele foi alguém que sofreu muito.
Mas dê uma olhadinha no começo do livro de Jó e veja o quanto ele era próspero, antes que a calamidade batesse na sua porta. Paul T. Gibbs, em seu livro, diz: “Na parte norte da península arábica, a leste do rio Jordão e do Mar Morto, na terra de Edom, vive este homem de Uz. Com um grande séquito de servos que levam fardos em tempo de paz e armas em tempo de guerra, com sete mil carneiros que fornecem lã, carne e leite, com três mil camelos que carregam mercadorias para os mercados mundiais, com cinco mil juntas de bois que aram vastas áreas até o limiar do deserto, onde mesmo em nossos dias pululam fazendas e cidades – em meio a tanta abundância, Jó criou sua família de sete filhos e três filhas. Até que sobreviesse o revés, a existência de Jó foi suave.
“A vida de Jó tem sido um êxito no mais rigoroso sentido. Antes que a desgraça o alcançasse, a aprovação divina derramava luz e calor sobre sua vida. Aqueles foram dias de júbilo. ...Em harmonia com sua vida abençoada e as crenças tradicionais, ele antecipava uma velhice tranquila e uma morte pacífica” (Job and the Mysteries of Wisdom, págs. 12-13).
Esse texto resume bem sobre como era a vida do patriarca. Mas em Jó 1:4-5, ele demonstra reconhecer que a vida tem seus perigos e que as pessoas têm suas fraquezas. Percebemos que ele mesmo administrava sua riqueza. Ele se preocupava com seus filhos. Como um pai sábio, orava a Deus para que o nível de vida que possuíam não colocasse em risco a experiência religiosa deles. “Em meio das festividades de seus filhos, ele tremia cuidando que os filhos não desagradassem a Deus. Como sacerdote fiel do lar, oferecia sacrifícios individualmente para eles. Sabia do caráter ofensivo do pecado, e o pensamento de que seus filhos pudessem esquecer das reivindicações divinas, levou-o a Deus como intercessor em favor deles” (Comentário Bíblico SDABC, vol. 3, pág. 1140).
Atualmente, ainda existem filhos de pais ricos que recebem por herança a riqueza, mas não a piedade. Esta característica não tem como ser herdada, pois é proveniente do relacionamento pessoal com Deus. Mas como proteger a família dos perigos da abastança?
