|Esdras 3:1|
And the seventh month cometh, and the sons of Israel [are] in the cities, and the people are gathered, as one men, unto Jerusalem.

|Esdras 3:2|
And rise doth Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and they build the altar of the God of Israel, to cause to ascend upon it burnt-offerings, as it is written in the law of Moses, the man of God.

|Esdras 3:3|
And they establish the altar on its bases, because of the fear upon them of the peoples of the lands, and he causeth burnt-offerings to ascend upon it to Jehovah, burnt-offerings for the morning and for the evening.

|Esdras 3:4|
And they make the feast of the booths as it is written, and the burnt-offering of the day daily in number according to the ordinance, the matter of a day in its day;

|Esdras 3:5|
and after this a continual burnt-offering, and for new moons, and for all appointed seasons of Jehovah that are sanctified; and for every one who is willingly offering a willing-offering to Jehovah.

From the first day of the seventh month they have begun to cause burnt-offerings to ascend to Jehovah, and the temple of Jehovah hath not been founded,

and they give money to hewers and to artificers, and food, and drink, and oil to Zidonians and to Tyrians, to bring in cedar-trees from Lebanon unto the sea of Joppa, according to the permission of Cyrus king of Persia concerning them.

And in the second year of their coming in unto the house of God, to Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all those coming from the captivity to Jerusalem, and they appoint the Levites from a son of twenty years and upward, to overlook the work of the house of Jehovah.

And Jeshua standeth, [and] his sons, and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, sons of Judah together, to overlook those doing the work in the house of God; the sons of Henadad, [and] their sons and their brethren the Levites.

And those building have founded the temple of Jehovah, and they appoint the priests, clothed, with trumpets, and the Levites, sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise Jehovah, by means of [the instruments of] David king of Israel.

Você sabia que o Brasil foi o único país das Américas que teve monarquia? É sério! Já ouviu falar de um rei da Argentina, rei dos Estados Unidos, rei do México ou desses outros países da América e países vizinhos? O Brasil foi o único país das Américas que passou por esse processo retrógado. Estou falando isso por alguns motivos.
Primeiro, porque hoje é dia 13 de maio. Teve um rei do Reino Unido que abrangia Portugal e Brasil, chamado João VI, de Portugal, que nasceu justamente no dia treze de maio. E interessante é que sua neta, a princesa Isabel, também, em um dia 13 de maio (de 1888) assinou a lei Áurea, resultando na libertação dos escravos do Brasil. E falando em realezas, princesa, monarquia e rei, nossa leitura bíblica também nos apresenta vários reis da monarquia do Israel do mundo antigo.
Você já fez sua leitura de hoje? Nesse trecho de 2Crônicas 10-13, nos deparamos com a revolta do povo de Israel contra o rei Roboão. Já ouviu falar desse rei? Foi bem na época dele que Israel deixou de ser um reino só. Saul, Davi e Salomão tinham reinado sobre todo o Israel, mas quando Salomão morreu, seu filho começou a reinar só em Judá.
Depois, encontramos Sisaque, que era rei do Egito na época de Roboão. Ele subiu até Judá, ao sul de Israel, para atacar Jerusalém. Nesse ataque que Sisaque fez contra Jerusalém, Roboão não tinha a mínima possibilidade de lutar contra ele. Então, buscou a ajuda de Deus. O Senhor foi misericordioso e disse que Sisaque não o mataria, mas como eles tinham sido infiéis em obedecer ao rei dos Céus, Deus falou: “ficarão sujeitos a ele [a Sisaque], para que aprendam a diferença entre servir a mim e servir aos reis de outras terras.”
Por esse tempo, uma vez que o reino de Israel foi dividido, enquanto Roboão ficou reinando no sul, em Judá, Jeroboão ficou reinando no norte, em Israel. E enquanto Jeroboão ainda era rei no norte, Roboão, do sul, foi substituído por um próximo rei chamado Abias, que se tornou rei em Judá.
Dali em diante, o povo não tinha mais um só rei, não sabia a quem servir e sofriam debaixo de uma dura servidão. Tudo isso porque quando Samuel era juiz em Israel, e o único rei deles era o Senhor, eles O rejeitaram como rei e exigiram ter um rei humano. Como o ser humano é falho, então as falhas vieram sobre o reino, os súditos e as pessoas, trazendo muitas tristezas para eles.
