And the seventh month cometh, and the sons of Israel [are] in the cities, and the people are gathered, as one men, unto Jerusalem.

|Esdras 3:2|
And rise doth Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and they build the altar of the God of Israel, to cause to ascend upon it burnt-offerings, as it is written in the law of Moses, the man of God.

|Esdras 3:3|
And they establish the altar on its bases, because of the fear upon them of the peoples of the lands, and he causeth burnt-offerings to ascend upon it to Jehovah, burnt-offerings for the morning and for the evening.

|Esdras 3:4|
And they make the feast of the booths as it is written, and the burnt-offering of the day daily in number according to the ordinance, the matter of a day in its day;

|Esdras 3:5|
and after this a continual burnt-offering, and for new moons, and for all appointed seasons of Jehovah that are sanctified; and for every one who is willingly offering a willing-offering to Jehovah.

From the first day of the seventh month they have begun to cause burnt-offerings to ascend to Jehovah, and the temple of Jehovah hath not been founded,

and they give money to hewers and to artificers, and food, and drink, and oil to Zidonians and to Tyrians, to bring in cedar-trees from Lebanon unto the sea of Joppa, according to the permission of Cyrus king of Persia concerning them.

And in the second year of their coming in unto the house of God, to Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all those coming from the captivity to Jerusalem, and they appoint the Levites from a son of twenty years and upward, to overlook the work of the house of Jehovah.

And Jeshua standeth, [and] his sons, and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, sons of Judah together, to overlook those doing the work in the house of God; the sons of Henadad, [and] their sons and their brethren the Levites.

And those building have founded the temple of Jehovah, and they appoint the priests, clothed, with trumpets, and the Levites, sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise Jehovah, by means of [the instruments of] David king of Israel.

PENSANDO BEM...
Juízes 20-21
Laurence Richards, em seu livro The Teacher’s Coments, chamou-me a atenção para algo que eu nunca tinha pensado em relação ao livro de Juízes e a nossa sociedade moderna. Se você observar na sua Bíblia, ao terminar de ler esse livro, vai deparar-se com a frase: “Naquela época, não havia rei em Israel; cada um fazia o que lhe parecia certo.” Na realidade, essa frase repete-se várias vezes em Juízes. Ela deve nos levar a pensar sobre tudo o que possa existir na nossa conduta que não esteja alinhado com a vida que Deus descreve na Sua Lei. Este é o ponto.
Pense bem: nos dias atuais, os tribunais têm a tendência de definir o que é obsceno usando como critérios o que seriam chamados de “padrões da sociedade”. Ou seja, o que as pessoas de uma comunidade considerarem obscenidade será obscenidade, e o que considerarem não-obsceno não será obsceno. E, desafortunadamente, isso é óbvio. Mas minha pergunta é: O que você acha desse critério?
Será que a frase “Naquela época... cada um fazia o que lhe parecia certo” e esse sistema moderno de estabelecer a “justiça” têm algo em comum? É claro que tem tudo a ver. Obviamente também estamos errados. A(s) nossa(s) comunidade(s) deveria(m) estabelecer como definições legais os conceitos morais e não as ações de crime. Mas parece quase impossível, pois como isso seria feito, se existe tanto desacordo sobre o que vem a ser “certo” e o que vem a ser “errado”? O pós-modernismo, o pluralismo e o amor pelo “politicamente correto” nos fizeram, como sociedade, afocinharmos nessa fossa insegura.
“E agora?” É a mesma pergunta que poderia ser feita e ser respondida no período dos Juízes. Temos a Bíblia, eles tinham o Pentateuco e a história de Josué. A própria Palavra de Deus, através de Josué e de Moisés, já tinha advertido aquele povo que a desobediência também traz consigo a semeadura da autodestruição. O contexto daquela sociedade do fim do livro de Juízes mostra esse conceito de uma maneira muito clara. A única variação é que o deteriorar das coisas, às vezes, é um processo longo ou um processo curto, mas é um processo que acontece. Pode demorar porque em determinadas situações, o fruto mortal e amargo talvez demore algumas gerações para ficar maduro. Mas o “Assim Diz o Senhor” é certo. A mortandade que um dia foi anunciada vai chegar. O que Deus fala, de forma muito inconfundível e irredutível, é a expressão dos princípios nos quais precisamos nos basear para sermos bem conduzidos nesta vida.
