The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah, that were carried away captive unto Babylon.

And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, Jehovah thy God pronounced this evil upon this place;

and Jehovah hath brought it, and done according as he spake: because ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.

And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which are upon thy hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come, and I will look well unto thee; but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee; whither it seemeth good and right unto thee to go, thither go.

Now while he was not yet gone back, Go back then, [said he], to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people; or go wheresoever it seemeth right unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a present, and let him go.

Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah, and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.

Now when all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poorest of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;

then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, [to wit], Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans that shall come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine and summer fruits and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.

DISCIPLINA DISCIPLINADA
Provérbios 12-15
Uma ouvinte fez uma pergunta muito interessante: “Por que os outros prosperam e eu não?” Dei um suspiro quando a li. Então, pensei: Será que os outros prosperam mesmo? Como a grama do vizinho é mais verde, né? Será que você realmente não prospera? O que é prosperar? Como prosperar?
Quando estava vivendo no campus universitário, ainda estudando na faculdade, eu lembro que, certo dia, estava bem angustiado. No dia seguinte, eu sairia do campus para realizar o trabalho mais difícil e duro que já vi em toda a minha vida. Eu tinha uma meta para atingir. Nesse estado de angústia, encontrei um dos diretores da faculdade. Ele notou minha aflição através da expressão do meu rosto. Perguntou o que eu tinha. Quando respondi, ele me encarou nos olhos, firme, sério e disse, num tom bem solene: “O segredo para o sucesso desse trabalho se resume numa palavra: dis-ci-pli-na.”
Fiquei pensando e concordei com ele. E por trás dessa palavra há muita coisa. Nunca mais a esqueci. Toda a preocupação da leitura bíblica de hoje também poderia ser resumida em disciplina. Com é difícil ter disciplina e ser disciplinado em tudo. Mas, por outro lado, como é incrível ver que a disciplina é realmente uma mola que nos joga para o sucesso. Não o sucesso segundo o que o mundo pensa, mas sucesso de acordo como o que a sabedoria designa ser sucesso.
Você é disciplinado em todas as áreas, em todos os detalhes da sua vida? Não. É impossível? Realmente é um desafio. Mas o livro de provérbios pode ajudar muito nisso. Só na leitura de hoje, há muitas dicas sobre boas disciplinas da vida, na área dos relacionamentos, no campo econômico dos negócios, sobre tomadas de decisões, falando acerca da psicologia, dos cuidados com a casa, como proceder nos tempos de crise e várias outras coisas boas sobre a boa arte da disciplina.
Vinda do termo latino “disciplina” também, essa é uma palavra que originalmente significava e ainda significa “ação de se instruir”, “educação”, “ciência”, “disciplina”, “ordem”, “sistema”, “princípios de moral”. Ela é uma palavra que inspira algo mais: inspira o pensamento de obediência a boas regras de cunho interior. Disciplina tem a ver com firmeza, constância, ordem, bom comportamento, boa perseverança. Está relacionada a conseguir fazer tudo bem feito sempre, o que deve ser feito, e nada mais do que precisa ser feito, entende?
Então, é fácil ser disciplinado? Só pela graça! E essa graça é encontrada lendo a Bíblia. Se você for disciplinado o suficiente para fazer sua leitura, a Bíblia lhe dará a disciplina necessária para todas as demais áreas da vida.
