The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah, that were carried away captive unto Babylon.

And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, Jehovah thy God pronounced this evil upon this place;

and Jehovah hath brought it, and done according as he spake: because ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.

And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which are upon thy hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come, and I will look well unto thee; but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee; whither it seemeth good and right unto thee to go, thither go.

Now while he was not yet gone back, Go back then, [said he], to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people; or go wheresoever it seemeth right unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a present, and let him go.

Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah, and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.

Now when all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poorest of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;

then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, [to wit], Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans that shall come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine and summer fruits and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.

O QUEBRADOR DE PEDRAS
Isaías 11-14
Quando li Isaías 14, na minha leitura, tive uma sensação que, para traduzi-la, é necessário contar uma história que encontrei no site www.pregador.com.br, com o título “O QUEBRADOR DE PEDRAS”. Ela estava catalogada sobre o assunto da inveja. Então, imagine a sensação que tive ao ler esse capítulo.
Segundo a lenda (que é apenas para ilustrar), diz que havia um sujeito muito simples, que ganhava a vida quebrando pedras. Era o quebrador de pedras. Apesar do fato de ter saúde, emprego e família, ele vivia permanentemente insatisfeito.
Certo dia, ele passou em frente à casa de um homem muito rico e importante. Ele sentiu uma terrível inveja, quando viu aquele homem cercado de bens valiosos e pessoas importantes. Do mais profundo do seu ser, pensou: “Ah... como eu queria ser aquele homem!” Então, inexplicavelmente, como num passe de mágica... plim! Foi colocado no lugar do rico.
Mas quando ia começar a usufruir o luxo e o poder, passou em frente daquela casa um importante general, montado num magnífico cavalo, e todos se curvavam diante dele. O quebrador de pedras novamente sentiu inveja e desejou ser aquele general e, mais uma vez, plim! Lá estava ele, em cima do cavalo.
Quando ia começar a desfrutar o prestígio do general, caiu do cavalo, devido ao forte calor do Sol do meio-dia. Então, ele invejou o Sol e... plim!
Ao começar a experimentar todo o poder de seus raios, uma nuvem escura veio e tapou-lhe a visão. Invejou a nuvem escura e... plim!
Quando ia tapar os raios do Sol, passou um forte vento e jogou a nuvem para longe. Invejou o vento e... plim!
E quando ia jogar as nuvens escuras para bem longe, uma montanha quebrou o vento. Invejou a montanha e... plim! Tornou-se a montanha.
Ah... Agora, finalmente, parece que ficou satisfeito, pois, parecia-lhe que, em todo o mundo, nada era mais poderoso que uma grande e inabalável montanha.
Mas foi neste pequeno e único momento de satisfação que ele ouviu um som que lhe era bastante familiar, o som de uma pesada marreta de ferro manejada com habilidade por um musculoso quebrador de pedras, quebrando a montanha devagarzinho.
Interessante! A inveja só pode levar a uma coisa: autodestruição.
Houve um tempo em que tudo era perfeito e ninguém sofria. Mas um anjo infeliz resolveu experimentar algo que não seria bom: ter inveja. A tentação não é pecado, o pecado é alimentá-la. Hoje, arcamos com as consequências dessa inveja: a existência do diabo e o inferno no qual nós precisamos viver.
Não compensa invejar nada de ninguém. Cultive o contentamento e você será muito feliz!
