The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah, that were carried away captive unto Babylon.

And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, Jehovah thy God pronounced this evil upon this place;

and Jehovah hath brought it, and done according as he spake: because ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.

And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which are upon thy hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come, and I will look well unto thee; but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee; whither it seemeth good and right unto thee to go, thither go.

Now while he was not yet gone back, Go back then, [said he], to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people; or go wheresoever it seemeth right unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a present, and let him go.

Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah, and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.

Now when all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poorest of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;

then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, [to wit], Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans that shall come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine and summer fruits and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.

PURIFICAÇÃO ETERNA

No santuário israelita, a limpeza de todo aquele sangue acumulado ao longo do ano era feita no “Dia da Purificação do Santuário”. Era chamado, também, de “Dia da Expiação” ou “Yom Kippur”, que era o décimo dia do mês Tishri, no calendário judaico. Nesse dia, era feita uma expiação pelos pecados de todo o povo através do sacrifício de um único animal, que tomava sobre si todas as iniqüidades, representando a Cristo (Levítico 16; Hebreus 10:12). Depois de expiados, os pecados eram simbolicamente transferidos para outro animal: um bode. Ele representava Satanás e morria por conseqüência natural da situação envolvente do pecado, sem derramamento de sangue intercessor (Levítico 16:22).
O santuário celestial também necessita ser purificado. “Portanto, era necessário que as cópias das coisas que estão nos céus fossem purificadas com esses sacrifícios, mas as próprias coisas celestiais com sacrifícios superiores” (Hebreus 9:23). O grande dia da expiação da história humana teve data marcada pela Bíblia. O anjo havia dito que, quando se passassem 2300 anos, começaria tal purificação. “Isso tudo levará duas mil e trezentas tardes e manhãs; então o santuário será reconsagrado” (Daniel 8:14). A palavra “reconsagrado” aqui significa “justificado”, o que indica um julgamento. O Yom Kippur era um dia considerado pelos judeus como um dia de julgamento final (anual), onde eles eram realmente justificados de seus pecados que haviam se acumulado no tabernáculo, porque tal tenda estava sendo purificada. O pecado seria, enfim, banido e esquecido do arraial (Levítico 16).
Se contarmos 2300 anos, chegaremos a 1844 d.C. Desse ano em diante, o ministério de Cristo se ampliou do Lugar Santo para o Lugar Santíssimo no Santuário Celestial.
Estamos vivendo no grande Yom Kippur do período de pecado neste planeta. É dia, ou melhor, tempo de juízo. Nosso grande Sumo Sacerdote é também o Juiz (João 5:22) do cristão, “pois chegou a hora de começar o julgamento pela casa de Deus” (1Pedro 4:17). “Tronos foram colocados, e um ancião se assentou... o tribunal iniciou o julgamento, e os livros foram abertos” (Daniel 7:9-10) para que o universo (1Coríntios 4:9) verifique o nosso nome (Apocalipse 20:15; 21:27) e os nossos atos (Malaquias 3:16).
Mas não tema esse julgamento. Nosso advogado é o próprio Juiz (1João 1:21)! Ele há de julgar o mundo com justiça (Atos 17:31) porque não quer ver nenhuma possibilidade de um inocente ser executado com a morte eterna. Se você for amigo dEle, com certeza, quando seu nome for passado em revista, será absolvido. “Portanto, visto que temos um grande sumo sacerdote que adentrou os céus, Jesus, o Filho de Deus, apeguemo-nos com toda a firmeza à fé que professamos” (Hebreus 8:14).
