|Jeremias 40:1|
The word which came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all the captives of Jerusalem and Judah, that were carried away captive unto Babylon.

And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, Jehovah thy God pronounced this evil upon this place;

and Jehovah hath brought it, and done according as he spake: because ye have sinned against Jehovah, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.

And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which are upon thy hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come, and I will look well unto thee; but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee; whither it seemeth good and right unto thee to go, thither go.

Now while he was not yet gone back, Go back then, [said he], to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people; or go wheresoever it seemeth right unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a present, and let him go.

Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah, and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.

Now when all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poorest of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;

then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, [to wit], Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of the Maacathite, they and their men.

And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.

As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans that shall come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine and summer fruits and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.

A pregação do evangelho fala muito sobre esperança? Mas ainda assim, existe muita gente que não a tem. É um tremendo desafio. As pessoas que não conhecem a verdadeira esperança se julgam sábias em ter uma conscientização de que nunca se deve privar alguém da esperança, pois pode ser tudo que resta a tal pessoa. E aí vem aquele equivocado provérbio popular: “A esperança é a última que morre.” Engano. Para muita gente, a esperança já morreu faz tempo. Tem muita gente que, apesar de viver num contexto onde poderia receber esperança, vive sem ela.
Na leitura de hoje, conheça um homem desesperançado. Quer conhecê-lo falhando em ter ou, talvez, expressar ou apresentar esperança? “Foram-se os meus dias, os meus planos fracassaram, como também os desejos do meu coração. Andam querendo tornar a noite em dia; ante a aproximação das trevas dizem: ‘Vem chegando a luz’. Ora, se o único lar pelo qual espero é a sepultura, se estendo a minha cama nas trevas, se digo à corrupção mortal: Você é o meu pai, e se aos vermes digo: Vocês são minha mãe e minha irmã, onde está então minha esperança? Quem poderá ver alguma esperança para mim? Descerá ela às portas da sepultura? Desceremos juntos ao pó?” E assim é o clamor de quem está sofrendo.
Esse tem sido o bramido de muitas criaturas de Deus espalhadas por aí. Vagantes que apenas respiram e perambulam pra lá e prá cá, sem esperança, no mundo. A pessoa levanta-se pela manhã, toma seu desjejum e sai para a correria do dia. Trabalha, ganha dinheiro, se larga na cama e dorme até o próximo dia. Para quê? Pra comprar, comprar e comprar, sendo que amanhã vai morrer. É uma luta intensa, para daqui a 80 anos já ter deixado de existir. Mas daqui a cem anos, nenhum de nós que fazemos a máquina mover estará aqui. Seremos totalmente substituídos. Então, de que vale a pena viver? Esse é o fantasma que persegue uma pessoa que não sabe de onde veio, nem para onde vai, como evolucionistas, ateístas, etc. Gente sem esperança. O pior é que um filho de Deus também pode ser tentado. Jó sofreu com essa tentação.
Se você foi ou está sendo tentado, não pare! A esperança pode reaparecer.
