Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the seed royal and [one of] the chief officers of the king, and ten men with him, came unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they did eat bread together in Mizpah.

Then arose Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.

Ishmael also slew all the Jews that were with him, [to wit], with Gedaliah, at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans that were found there, the men of war.

And it came to pass the second day after he had slain Gedaliah, and no man knew it,

that there came men from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, even fourscore men, having their beards shaven and their clothes rent, and having cut themselves, with meal-offerings and frankincense in their hand, to bring them to the house of Jehovah.

And Ishmael the son of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meet them, weeping all along as he went: and it came to pass, as he met them, he said unto them, Come to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.

And it was so, when they came into the midst of the city, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah slew them, [and cast them] into the midst of the pit, he, and the men that were with him.

But ten men were found among them that said unto Ishmael, Slay us not; for we have stores hidden in the field, of wheat, and of barley, and of oil, and of honey. So he forbare, and slew them not among their brethren.

Now the pit wherein Ishmael cast all the dead bodies of the men whom he had slain, by the side of Gedaliah (the same was that which Asa the king had made for fear of Baasha king of Israel,) Ishmael the son of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slain.

Then Ishmael carried away captive all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, even the king's daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam; Ishmael the son of Nethaniah carried them away captive, and departed to go over to the children of Ammon.

HOSPITAL DO SENHOR
Êxodo 39-40
Chegando ao final do livro de “Êxodo”, encontramos a conclusão da construção do tabernáculo e da criação de tudo que iria compô-lo: “E a glória do Senhor enchia o tabernáculo” (Êxodo 40:35). Esse era o lugar da habitação que manifestava visivelmente a Deus.
O tabernáculo não existe mais. Mas o Novo Testamento nos ensina que nosso corpo é o santuário onde Deus quer habitar. O Senhor quer que cada crente seja um templo Seu. A união de todos esses templos formam o corpo de Cristo, que é a igreja cristã. Vamos à igreja para nos reunir como um só corpo, como os israelitas o faziam ao redor do tabernáculo. Portanto, duas coisas nos fazem lembrar daquela tenda no deserto: a pessoa de cada crente e a igreja. São os templos que temos.
Muitos gostam de comparar a igreja com um hospital. Pensando nisso, quero compartilhar um texto - “Hospital do Senhor” - que encontrei na internet, de autor desconhecido, mas muito interessante:
“Fui ao hospital do Senhor fazer um check-up de rotina e constatei que estava doente. Quando Jesus verificou minha pressão, percebeu que estava baixa de ternura e, ao verificar a temperatura, o termômetro registrou 40 graus de egoísmo.
Fiz um eletrocardiograma e foi diagnosticado que necessitava de uma ponte de amor, pois minha artéria estava bloqueada e não estava abastecendo meu coração vazio.
Passei pela ortopedia, pois estava com dificuldade de andar lado a lado com meu irmão. Não conseguia nem mesmo abraçá-lo por ter fraturado o braço, ao tropeçar na minha vaidade.
Na oftalmologia, constatou-se em mim uma miopia, pois não conseguia enxergar além das aparências.
Queixei-me também de não poder ouvir claramente o Doutor, e diagnosticou em mim um bloqueio em decorrência das palavras vazias do dia-a-dia.
Mas a consulta foi boa. Obrigado, doutor Jesus, por não ter me cobrado nada pela consulta, por Sua grande misericórdia. Agora, quero, ao sair daqui, usar somente os remédios naturais que o Senhor me indicou, que estão no Seu evangelho. Deverei tomar, diariamente, ao me levantar, chá de agradecimento; chegando no trabalho, uma colher de sopa de bom dia; e, de hora em hora, um comprimido de paciência, com um copo de humildade. Ao chegar em casa, a dose diária será uma injeção de amor. E, na hora de dormir, duas cápsulas de consciência tranqüila.
Agindo assim, tenho certeza de que não ficarei mais doente e todos os dias serão de confraternização e solidariedade. É... Devo prolongar esse tratamento por toda a minha vida para que quando eu for chamado, possa ser identificado como um filho Seu.
Obrigado Senhor. Quero ser seu eterno cliente. Ajude-me!”
