|Jeremias 40:1|
The word came to Jeremiah from the LORD after Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard had released him at Ramah. He had found Jeremiah bound in chains among all the captives from Jerusalem and Judah who were being carried into exile to Babylon.

|Jeremias 40:2|
When the commander of the guard found Jeremiah, he said to him, “The LORD your God decreed this disaster for this place.

|Jeremias 40:3|
And now the LORD has brought it about; he has done just as he said he would. All this happened because you people sinned against the LORD and did not obey him.

|Jeremias 40:4|
But today I am freeing you from the chains on your wrists. Come with me to Babylon, if you like, and I will look after you; but if you do not want to, then don’t come. Look, the whole country lies before you; go wherever you please.”

|Jeremias 40:5|
However, before Jeremiah turned to go, [Or Jeremiah answered] Nebuzaradan added, “Go back to Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has appointed over the towns of Judah, and live with him among the people, or go anywhere else you please.” Then the commander gave him provisions and a present and let him go.

So Jeremiah went to Gedaliah son of Ahikam at Mizpah and stayed with him among the people who were left behind in the land.

When all the army officers and their men who were still in the open country heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam as governor over the land and had put him in charge of the men, women and children who were the poorest in the land and who had not been carried into exile to Babylon,

they came to Gedaliah at Mizpah — Ishmael son of Nethaniah, Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, Seraiah son of Tanhumeth, the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah [Hebrew Jezaniah, a variant of Jaazaniah] the son of the Maacathite, and their men.

Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, took an oath to reassure them and their men. “Do not be afraid to serve the Babylonians,” [Or Chaldeans; also in verse 10] he said. “Settle down in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well with you.

I myself will stay in Mizpah to represent you before the Babylonians who come to us, but you are to harvest the wine, summer fruit and oil, and put them in your storage jars, and live in the towns you have taken over.”

“QUEM?” “DE ONDE?”
Amós 01-04
Hoje, 20/09, é um dia que me marca por dois fatores bem fortes. O primeiro deles é que minha esposa faz aniversário hoje. Isso faz com que o “vinte de setembro” me seja um dia muito especial. Para mim, essa data representa o dia em que o mundo abriu a porta da graça para conceder o presente da existência da mulher mais linda do mundo. Esta primeira razão pela qual o “vinte de setembro” seja marcante em minha memória é a desencadeadora do segundo motivo.
E o segundo ponto é: hoje é o dia do gaúcho. Você não entendeu ainda? É que minha esposa é gaúcha, e eu não. Agora você entendeu. Por mais que você esteja distante da cultura gaúcha, você sabe que se trata de uma tradição muito forte. Para que você tenha uma idéia, hoje é feriado no Rio Grande do Sul. O feriado é em memória à Revolução Farroupilha, mas o que eles terminam comemorando o fato de serem gaúchos. Para eles, isso tem uma importância que não passa pelo nosso entendimento, mas impacta quem tem algum tipo de contato com tal cultura. O que é importante para eles? O solo amado. Eles não desconsideram os outros, mas valorizam o que é seu. Um “guri” da segunda série é capaz de não saber o Hino Nacional, mas, com certeza, ser capaz de cantar, com toda categoria, o Hino do Rio Grande do Sul.
Pessoas e suas raízes. Um “alguém” e um “de onde”. Alguém que não sabe inglês e começa a aprender esta língua aprende, como uma das primeiras frases: “Where do you come from?”. De “onde” “você” é? Duas coisas importantes: o indivíduo, e suas origens. De onde você é, amigo leitor? Isso diz muito sobre uma pessoa. E aqui minha pergunta estende-se para além do local de nascimento. De onde você é, pensando em tudo o que significa a sua conduta, moral, comportamento, imagem e testemunho pessoal?
O testemunho pessoal de Amós estava vinculado à sua origem cultural. Quem era Amós? Um criador de ovelhas. De onde? De Tecoa, uma cidade israelense da província de Belém, localizada a 12 quilômetros ao sudeste de Belém na Cisjordânia. Essa é a Tecoa de hoje. Na época, era uma cidade comum, do interior da tribo de Judá. Ah! Mais importante de tudo: ele foi chamado para ser profeta de Deus. Precisa de algo mais no currículo?
Sim, precisa. Faz-se necessária a minha postura correta de leitor. Você pode ser refletido em Amós ou nos que rejeitavam sua mensagem? Isso é fácil de responder? Você já fez, ou vai fazer, sua leitura de hoje?
