And the king sent, and they gathered to him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

And the king went up into the house of Jehovah, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great; and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which had been found in the house of Jehovah.

And the king stood on the dais, and made a covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all [his] heart, and with all [his] soul, to establish the words of this covenant that are written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

And the king commanded Hilkijah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the doorkeepers, to bring forth out of the temple of Jehovah all the vessels that had been made for Baal, and for the Asherah, and for all the host of the heavens; and he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them to Bethel.

And he abolished the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense on the high places in the cities of Judah, and the environs of Jerusalem; and them that burned incense to Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven.

And he brought out the Asherah from the house of Jehovah, outside Jerusalem, to the torrent of Kidron, and burned it at the torrent of Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder upon the graves of the children of the people.

And he broke down the houses of the sodomites, which were in the house of Jehovah, where the women wove tents for the Asherah.

And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba even to Beer-sheba; and he broke down the high places of the gates, those at the entrance of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, [and] those on the left hand of any [going in] at the gate of the city.

Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of Jehovah in Jerusalem, but they ate of the unleavened bread among their brethren.

PODERIA DEUS FRUSTRRAR-SE?
Ezequiel 39-41
Na leitura de hoje, entramos numa última grande seção do livro de Ezequiel, que reporta-se a um “Templo”. O capítulo 40 começa a descrever sobre o Novo Tempo.
E a pergunta que sempre surge na mente do leitor bíblico é: “A que templo a visão do fim do livro de Ezequiel se refere?”
De acordo com o teólogo Siegried Schwantes, para entender a direção da resposta desta pergunta, é importante saber a data aproximada em que essa visão aconteceu. Esta longa visão, que conclui o livro, é datada do vigésimo quinto ano do exílio de Exequiel. Como esse exílio ocorreu em 597 a.C., a visão data do ano 572 a.C. Em visão, o profeta é transportando à terra de Israel e posto sobre um alto monte, de onde pode contemplar o novo Templo. Um anjo lhe aparece para lhe descrever as várias partes do edifício, seu mobiliário, seus serviços e os ministrantes. A visão encerra com a divisão da terra entre as doze tribos.
A visão do Templo apresenta duas dificuldades: a) O templo nela descrito não corresponde aos dados que se encontram no Pentateuco para o antigo santuário; b) O templo que, em data posterior a esta visão, foi reconstruído em Jerusalém, tampouco correspondeu ao descrito na visão. Em vista disto, pergunta-se: “qual seria o propósito da visão?”.
Uma possível explicação é que uma nação vivendo de acordo com a vontade de Deus, na terra prometida, depois do exílio, teria construído este templo ideal e organizado-se segundo este ideal das tribos. Mas como o povo judeu não viveu à altura do ideal que Deus lhes propunha, um templo que obedecesse às estipulações descritas na visão nunca foi construído. E o povo nunca mais foi estabelecido naquele ideal da distribuição geográfica das 12 tribos.
Assim como Deus tinha um sonho para o antigo Israel, ele tem uma expectativa para você e para mim, hoje, também. Pois afinal, somos o Israel moderno de Deus (Gálatas 6:16). Entretanto, o sonho de Deus pode ser frustrado, dependendo da decisão do ser humano. Nisto, Deus não é impotente, mas ético. Ele limita-se a respeitar o atributo que nos deu, do livre arbítrio. Isso é uma honra até ao Seu próprio nome, pois como ele poderia primeiramente dar algo e depois não respeitar o que dera? E é assim que o Senhor expõe-se, voluntariamente, ao risco da frustração.
Eu imagino que você não queira frustrar Deus. Portanto, fica de lição para nós, que precisamos buscar o ideal de Deus hoje, para que Seus lindos planos possam sempre se cumprir na nossa vida.
“Voltem para o Senhor, e vocês viverão” (Amós 5:6).
