And the king sent, and they gathered to him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

And the king went up into the house of Jehovah, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great; and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which had been found in the house of Jehovah.

And the king stood on the dais, and made a covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all [his] heart, and with all [his] soul, to establish the words of this covenant that are written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

And the king commanded Hilkijah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the doorkeepers, to bring forth out of the temple of Jehovah all the vessels that had been made for Baal, and for the Asherah, and for all the host of the heavens; and he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them to Bethel.

And he abolished the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense on the high places in the cities of Judah, and the environs of Jerusalem; and them that burned incense to Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven.

And he brought out the Asherah from the house of Jehovah, outside Jerusalem, to the torrent of Kidron, and burned it at the torrent of Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder upon the graves of the children of the people.

And he broke down the houses of the sodomites, which were in the house of Jehovah, where the women wove tents for the Asherah.

And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba even to Beer-sheba; and he broke down the high places of the gates, those at the entrance of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, [and] those on the left hand of any [going in] at the gate of the city.

Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of Jehovah in Jerusalem, but they ate of the unleavened bread among their brethren.

O que você vai ler aqui são comentários de algumas partes do texto dos quatro capítulos propostos para hoje.
Isaías 63:1-6: Nesse poema, o Senhor apresenta-se como o único vingador do Seu povo. Compare com Isaías 64. Edom simboliza todos os adversários de Deus, e não uma nação em particular. Pisar as uvas num lagar é o símbolo da punição dos ímpios. É a mesma metáfora usada em Apocalipse 14.
Isaías 63:7-19; 64: Depois que o mal é varrido, uma oração pela restauração das coisas. Naquele entendimento antigo, o trato de Deus para com Seu povo vem a ser uma relembrança que evidencia a própria benignidade infalível de Deus. É a confiança nestes atributos de Deus que inspira a oração de Isaías 64 e provoca a resposta de Deus logo em seguida.
Isaías 65: Expressões semelhantes a “novos céus e nova terra” podem ser encontradas em mais lugares no final desse livro. Essa expressão indica uma nova ordem das coisas no presente estado do mundo. Na mente do autor, o foco é a restauração da Jerusalém terrestre. Nessa nova ordem, a morte não iria cessar. As condições de vida é que seriam infinitamente melhores que as anteriores. Isso ajuda a compreender, por exemplo, o verso 20. Mas é evidente que, em um sentido secundário, há espaço para aplicar boa parte do texto de Isaías 65 como promessas de uma antecipação bíblica da felicidade que os remidos terão no Céu e na Nova Terra. O que não se pode é forçar cada verso de Isaías 65 como sendo primordialmente uma descrição das características da Nova Terra, ao pé da letra. Isso seria forçar a barra.
Isaías 66: Esse capítulo fecha o livro de Isaías. Ele também encerra a nossa leitura bíblica de hoje. É um texto que dispensa comentários. Todavia, para deixá-lo com água na boca, de vontade de fazer essa leitura por completo, eis um pequeno-grande excerto do mesmo: “Assim como os novos céus e a nova terra que vou criar serão duradouros diante de mim, declara o Senhor, assim serão duradouros os descendentes de vocês e o seu nome. De uma lua nova a outra e de um sábado a outro, toda a humanidade virá e se inclinará diante de mim, diz o Senhor.”
Já pensou? Quanta regalia! Viveremos na presença literalmente física do próprio Rei do Universo. Só bênção do Senhor! É isso que aguarda você. O que lhe resta mais?
