And the king sent, and they gathered to him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

And the king went up into the house of Jehovah, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great; and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which had been found in the house of Jehovah.

And the king stood on the dais, and made a covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all [his] heart, and with all [his] soul, to establish the words of this covenant that are written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.

And the king commanded Hilkijah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the doorkeepers, to bring forth out of the temple of Jehovah all the vessels that had been made for Baal, and for the Asherah, and for all the host of the heavens; and he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them to Bethel.

And he abolished the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense on the high places in the cities of Judah, and the environs of Jerusalem; and them that burned incense to Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the constellations, and to all the host of heaven.

And he brought out the Asherah from the house of Jehovah, outside Jerusalem, to the torrent of Kidron, and burned it at the torrent of Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder upon the graves of the children of the people.

And he broke down the houses of the sodomites, which were in the house of Jehovah, where the women wove tents for the Asherah.

And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba even to Beer-sheba; and he broke down the high places of the gates, those at the entrance of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, [and] those on the left hand of any [going in] at the gate of the city.

Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of Jehovah in Jerusalem, but they ate of the unleavened bread among their brethren.

And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the sons of Hinnom, that no man might cause his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.

RELACIONAMENTOS MUITO PRECIOSOS
Cantares 05-08
Nosso programa anual de leitura diária da bÃblia, nos dá a sugestão de lermos Cantares em dois dias. Os quatro primeiros capÃtulos ontem, e o restante hoje. E, como o de ontem, neste nosso comentário atual, vamos nos concentrar numa visão geral sobre este livro escrito pelo filho e sucessor do trono de Davi.
A importância desta coletânea está no fato de que ela dá uma contribuição especial para o todo da BÃblia. Até um leitor casual pode ficar empolgado com a eloqüência poética que o homem mais sábio do mundo deixou manifestada em Cantares. Mas vou ressaltar isso, aqui nestas poucas linhas explicativas. Acontece que os significados mais profundos das figuras colocadas por Salomão, os sÃmbolos, e tudo mais, são um grande incentivo para tornar o leitor casual em um atento estudante da BÃblia.
E se a própria qualidade literária de Cantares é impressionante, o que diremos então sobre o assunto desse livro? Serve para moldar e controlar muitas coisas da nossa ação e da nossa interação para com as outras pessoas. Tal singularidade se dá através de um enredo onde os pensamentos mais Ãntimos do herói e da mocinha são expostos aos nossos olhos, que passam a ter a oportunidade de enxergar o quanto tais personagens têm sentimentos profundos um pelo outro.
E por falar em relacionamento a dois, pensando na atualidade, quando a tendência da sociedade é desonrar o casamento e depreciar o significado do amor, podemos agradecer a Deus pelas instruções, critérios e inspiração sobre este assunto, que Ele nos dá, de uma forma pura, nas instruções dos escritos sagrados. Aqui encontramos conselhos, encorajamento e amparo, para namorados, noivos e cônjuges. As experiências de Salomão com a jovem Sulamita (que mais tarde se tornaria sua rainha) estão no cânon sagrado com estes objetivos.
Se você é casado(a), mas está com dificuldades matrimoniais, em Cantares há sugestões sobre como renovar o romance e a aliança matrimonial. Incentivo-lhe a estudar este livro junto com seu cônjuge. Procurem absorver, de forma profunda, tudo o que está explÃcito e implÃcito, que lhes seja aplicável ao relacionamento. Estou certo de que isso vai trazer uma nova significação para vossa vida a dois.
Somos povo de Deus. E Ele escolheu o casamento para servir como uma ilustração do Seu relacionamento conosco. Cada uma das descobertas sobre o amor, que você fará em Cantares, poderá dar-lhe um novo vislumbre, muito precioso, sobre a natureza de relacionamento que Cristo quer que você tenha com Ele.
E a lição mais forte que devemos ter em mente é a de que, seja na vida amorosa ou na espiritual, os relacionamentos são muito preciosos.
