|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

|Lamentações 2:2|
Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

|Lamentações 2:5|
The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

Houve um cara que era famoso e religioso. E tem muita gente que acha que a religião não é importante. Será? Hoje, quero apresentar-lhe alguém cuja vida e obras podem nos levar a refletir o que queremos definir para a nossa vida. E isso tem tudo a ver com a religião. Quer conhecê-lo?
Ele foi o mais célebre dos reis de Israel, o terceiro na lista dos monarcas e o segundo dos cinco filhos que Davi teve com Bate-Seba. Este foi Salomão, que deve ter reinado por volta de 971 a 931 a.C. Provavelmente tenha nascido em Jerusalém, bem antes que Davi chegasse ao final de seu reinado, mas que só aparece em cena mais tarde.
Davi tinha prometido a Bate-Seba que Salomão seria o sucessor, todavia a sucessão não foi anunciada oficialmente. Então, Adonias se proclamou rei pelo fato de que era o mais velho dos irmãos que, na ocasião, estavam vivos. Mas diante dessa pressão e dos posicionamentos de Natã e Bate-Seba, Davi mandou ungir Salomão e colocá-lo no trono, embora houvesse outra proclamação e unção por Davi, de maneira mais formal e pública, um pouco antes dele morrer.
Por ser mais sábio que todos os seus contemporâneos, Salomão foi reconhecido como um grande intelectual israelita. Em nenhum outro tempo da monarquia houve tanta oportunidade de contatos internacionais, tampouco tanta abundância e paz que inspirasse tantas obras literárias. Ele teve tempo para pensar. E além disso, a sabedoria concedida por Deus ajudou Salomão a receber honras e riquezas também.
O sábio começou a construir o templo em 966 a.C. Para tanto, gastou apenas poucos anos para concluir aquela estupenda obra. Foi nessa época que Deus apareceu pela segunda vez a Salomão e fez a promessa de que colocaria o Seu nome para sempre naquele templo. E ali também foi reafirmada a promessa de que a casa de Davi, agora passando por Salomão, estaria perpetuamente no trono, se guardassem os mandamentos de Deus.
Entretanto, infelizmente Salomão fez coisas que eram proibidas: tomou para si cavalos, mulheres e ouro em abundância. Ele caiu na tentação, não ouviu os conselhos de Deus, ficou orgulhoso e se entregou aos prazeres carnais do sexo e da idolatria. E o resultado foi que o reino, que a tantas custas tinha sido fortemente unificado, dividiu-se logo após sua morte.
Nessa fragmentação do reinado, muitas ruínas surgiram. Mas o interessante foi que as suas edificações religiosas foram as únicas que ficaram de pé. Isso não diz nada a você? Com que nível de seriedade você está tratando os assuntos religiosos da sua vida?
