|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

|Lamentações 2:2|
Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

|Lamentações 2:5|
The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

|Lamentações 2:6|
He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

|Lamentações 2:7|
The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

|Lamentações 2:8|
The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

|Lamentações 2:9|
Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

|Lamentações 2:10|
The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

Hamã era um ciumento. E o que me fascina é o modo como Mardoqueu e a própria Ester foram equilibrados para lidar com a situação. Quanto desprendimento! Parece que essa mulher e esse homem de Deus não tinham inveja em seus corações. É incrível!
E você? Está em busca de santidade? Quer ser alguém útil para Jesus? O Senhor já lhe concedeu algum dom, alguma habilidade para trabalhar ou ministrar? Se “sim”, lembre-se de que, em algum momento, irá se deparar com o perigo da “ciumeira”. Com ela, vem a tentação de sentir-se indispensável para um serviço específico. Talvez, seja tentado a pensar: “Não acredito. O que ele está fazendo ali, sendo que eu poderia ocupar muito melhor aquela posição?” Ou: “Por que essa pessoa faz dessa forma? Se eu estivesse no lugar dela, faria diferente.” Ou então: “Esse camarada está tentando puxar meu tapete. Mas não vou ser vítima, EU estou no controle.” Ou: “Eu, sair desse cargo? Nunca! Você sabe o quanto de coisas boas eu já fiz?” Santa e irônica indispensabilidade! Você já ouviu mesquinharias orgulhosas desse tipo algum dia? Foi tentado a pensar com ciúmes desse tipo?
Qualquer pessoa pode descer da plataforma; é só colocar Deus no trono. Parece que os mais ciumentos estão entre o que chamaríamos de as personalidades públicas cristãs, que parecem ser abnegadas, mas no fundo do seu coração, são apaixonadas pelas manchetes na imprensa ou qualquer muro pichado que estampe seus nomes. Mas Deus julga os motivos do coração. Qualquer um que começa a servir em algum ministério é tentado pela fama. O problema é dar espaço para essa tentação. Que Deus tenha misericórdia dos que são ansiosos por ter uma fama maior que a do próprio Deus a quem deveriam exaltar.
Charles Swindoll escreveu: “Eu não sou indispensável, você também não é, e ninguém é indispensável, com exceção de Jesus, que é o Senhor, e que tem a primazia, porque Ele é o Cabeça. O primeiro lugar é de Cristo porque ele é o próprio fundamento. Quando o Senhor substitui uma pessoa, no cargo que ela ocupa (ou ocupava), ou então quando rebaixa um pra levantar outro, temos que entender que as ordens são dEle. E isso é um direito de soberania que ele tem. O problema é quando a gente começa a pensar que somos donos desse direito de soberania. Meu amigo, Deus colocou você onde Ele queria ver você estar. Foi Ele quem deu esse trabalho, essa função, esse cargo pra você. Então, da mesma forma, ele pode arrancar isso de você. Faça a sua parte com fidelidade, seja humilde, e exalte o nome de Jesus!”
