|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

|Lamentações 2:2|
Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

|Lamentações 2:5|
The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

|Lamentações 2:6|
He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

|Lamentações 2:9|
Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

SUA VIDA É IMPORTANTE
Deuteronômio 32-34
Em que tipo de lugares costumamos visitar quando estamos de férias? Bem, vamos às lojas para fazer compras ou, se não tiver dinheiro para, pelo menos, ver os produtos. Também vamos à praia, serra, beira de um rio ou então para algum outro lugar de retiro, como uma chácara, fazenda, sítio. Para onde mais? Existem aqueles que podem e gostam de conhecer lugares novos, há os que passeiam...
Ah, mas eu estava esquecendo, talvez, do mais importante: a casa dos amigos e parentes. Esse não é um ótimo lugar para ir? E por falar em casas de parentes, quando saio férias, costumo visitar muitos parentes. Porém, no meio da agenda de visitar a casa de um e de outro, tenho uma parada obrigatória. Parada no cemitério! É isso mesmo que você leu. O cemitério que fica na terra dos parentes é um lugar importante, porque é ali onde estão as sepulturas de algumas pessoas que são importantes para mim. Ir lá, lembrar-me daquelas pessoas, conversar um pouquinho sobre elas, rever suas tumbas, tirar uma foto, fazer uma filmagem, refletir um pouquinho sobre a vida e fazer uma oração, agradecendo a Deus pela minha vida, é uma parada obrigatória. As férias e a vida não são compostas só de festejos regateiros. Esses momentos reflexivos fazem parte também.
A leitura de hoje mostra que quando o povo de Israel estava saindo de férias, entre canções festivas e pronunciamento de bênçãos, eles tiveram uma parada obrigatória. Aliás, duas paradas. O texto parece que quebra a sequência, bruscamente, para falar da morte de Moisés. E o interessante é que no relato bíblico de hoje, fala duas vezes da morte dele. Por quê?
Talvez eu não saiba exatamente o porquê principal disso, mas sei que a morte de Moisés não foi um assunto secundário, não foi algo passageiro na mente de quem escreveu a Bíblia. Ela foi tão marcante, que a Bíblia praticamente chega a redundar o relato. Para mim, é como se eu estivesse andando de carro, de férias, numa boa, passeando, feliz da vida e, de repente, parasse em frente ao cemitério. Daí alguém perguntaria: “Mas é hora para isso, em plenas férias?” Eu responderia que sim, que é muito importante pra mim, pois trata-se da perda e da memória de alguém que é muito importante.
É assim que Deus considera Seus filhos, que se dedicam a trabalhar para Ele e entregam a vida nas mãos dEle. São muito importantes, a ponto de tratar do seu nome com respeito até depois que a vida acaba. Porque, um dia, na eternidade, a vida vai continuar numa importância maior ainda.
