|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

Gosto muito de um comentário que Nancy Cole fez sobre a história de Ester. Trazendo para nossos dias, fala sobre a discriminação e sobre qual deve ser a posição de uma mulher cristã diante dela. Existem situações em que a mulher precisa de um homem, não é verdade? Pense: quando está com o carro quebrado, quando precisa pechinchar, quando quer fazer um negócio pelo telefone ou até mesmo quando seus filhos estão crescendo sem a figura paterna presente no lar. Mas nem pense em se sentir inferior, mulher! Agradeça a Deus por ser uma dama. Você sabe que as mulheres têm um tipo de força que nenhum homem possui? E tanto homens quanto mulheres precisam reconhecer isso para fugir da discriminação.
A discriminação sempre existiu. Veja o livro de Ester. Ela não é só quanto ao sexo; pode ser quanto à situação econômica, à raça, a idade, o grau de escolaridade, etc. Aonde o pecado chegou, chegaram também o preconceito, a manipulação, a exploração e o preferencialismo. Infelizmente!
Ao fazer a leitura de hoje, conheça a órfã judia exilada que conseguiu vencer uma situação bem difícil. Ester obedeceu direitinho o seu tio, participou do concurso no palácio, caiu na graça do rei, virou rainha respeitada, mas mesmo assim não tinha poder. Ela não contou a ninguém que pertencia ao povo hebreu, porque sabia que sua raça seria chacinada, a mandado do próprio marido. Ainda assim, prometeu ao tio que argumentaria com o rei, ainda que essa atitude lhe custasse a própria vida!
Fico pensando na coragem de Ester. Quem não chora não mama, né? Como ela saberia que poderia ser uma vencedora, se não tentasse? Com uma sabedoria de político, que não dá para entender de onde tirou, conseguiu agendar um almoço com o rei, almoçar com ele e ainda agendar outro almoço. É mole? Ela era muito esperta! Estava criando o clima certo para revelar a própria raça e interceder por ela. Só por Deus mesmo! Apesar de não mencionar o nome de Deus no livro de Ester, podemos vê-Lo agindo com poder e com a graça para salvar os hebreus de uma injustiça social.
Mulher, se você agir com integridade, em nome do Senhor, saiba que Ele pode abrir um caminho lindo para você: sua herança feminina, no prazer dEle, como seu Pai. Tenha coragem!
Quando você enfrentar discriminação de sexo, intimidação ou qualquer situação que exija uma força além do normal, não se esqueça: você tem a mente de Jesus e o poder do Senhor para vencer qualquer barreira. E através de você, Deus é o verdadeiro vencedor.
