|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

|Lamentações 2:2|
Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

Neemias 09-11
A leitura de hoje começa mostrando uma história de arrependimento e confissão de pecados. Mas o que é arrependimento?
Na Bíblia, constatamos dois tipos básicos de arrependimento: um superficial e outro profundo. Paulo chama-os de tristeza segundo o mundo e tristeza segundo Deus. O primeiro é uma simples tristeza pelo fracasso, tendo mais a ver com remorso, como fuga das consequências. O arrependimento profundo é o reconhecimento de que fizemos algo errado, prejudicando alguém, e a firme decisão de consertar o erro e não voltar a cometê-lo.
A tristeza humana é o que sentimos por haver quebrado uma lei e sermos apanhados. A tristeza de origem divina é a que experimentamos por ter quebrantado um coração e ferido nosso melhor amigo.
O remorso pode ser exemplificado na atitude de Judas que, após ter traído Jesus, vendo que Jesus fora condenado, tocado de remorso e horrorizado apenas com as consequências de seus atos, retirou-se e foi enforcar-se. O arrependimento verdadeiro pode ser visto na postura de Pedro que, depois que negou a Cristo, lembrou da palavra que Jesus lhe dissera e, saindo dali, chorou amargamente. Continuou amando a Jesus e, pela consagração, teve seu comportamento restaurado.
É possível haver ARREPENDIMENTO sem CONVERSÃO, mas é impossível CONVERSÃO sem ARREPENDIMENTO. CONVERSÃO do quê? Do caminho de pecado que trilhamos. Isso nos leva a perceber que todos precisamos de ARREPENDIMENTO e mudança porque todos pecamos.
Eu o desafio a ler as passagens do Novo Testamento que relacionam os pecados, considerando cuidadosamente sua própria vida. Dê uma olhada cuidadosa em 1Coríntios 6:9-11; Gálatas 5:19-21; Efésios 5:3-7; Colossenses 3:5-11; 2Timóteo 3:1-5; Apocalipse 21:8. Honesta e responsavelmente precisamos admitir, por essas passagens, que estamos todos condenados, pelo menos por um pecado. Quando Deus relaciona tais pecados, está claramente pronunciando nossa culpa. Fazer o que Deus proibiu é pecado. Não fazer o que Ele exigiu é pecado. A consequência do pecado é a eterna separação de Deus. Eu tenho pecado; você tem pecado. Necessitamos do perdão misericordioso de Deus.
João Batista instruiu: “Produzi, pois, frutos dignos de ARREPENDIMENTO.” Uma pessoa que realmente mudou de atitude com respeito ao pecado manifestará essa mudança em suas ações, pois pelos seus frutos os conhecereis.
Você sabe que frutos são esses? Quando Davi estava se convertendo de seus pecados, ele pediu a Deus: “não me retires o teu Santo Espírito” (Salmo 51:11), ser Divino que produziria no rei convertido o Seu fruto: “amor, alegria, paz, longanimidade, benignidade, bondade, fidelidade, mansidão, domínio próprio” (Gálatas 5:19-26).
Ore, confesse seus pecados a Deus e peça que Ele coloque em seu coração o verdadeiro ARREPENDIMENTO e, em sua vida, o poder para não pecar.
