|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

|Lamentações 2:2|
Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

|Lamentações 2:5|
The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

|Lamentações 2:6|
He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

Vamos começar a leitura de mais um livro da Bíblia? Esdras foi um sacerdote e escriba que trabalhou juntamente com Neemias na volta do povo de Israel da Babilônia e na restauração do culto a Jeová na Terra Prometida. Na realidade, atuando como um co-trabalhador, terminou liderando as reformas dos exilados que retornaram para Jerusalém. Ele passou por muitas dificuldades.
Você já passou ou está passando por alguma dificuldade? Por acaso, está precisando de ajuda? Sabe que o próprio nome de Esdras já é um forte indicativo do que Deus fez por ele? Esdras significa, literalmente, “ajuda”. Dá para entender, também, como relacionada ao significado de Esdras, a expressão “Deus é ajuda”. Então, de repente, você pode encontrar a ajuda da qual está precisando, lendo o livro de Esdras.

Hoje, vamos conhecer esse homem a quem Deus ajudou; vamos conhecer esse Deus que ajudou Esdras e poderemos ser ajudados também. O Senhor pode e quer nos ajudar, mas também precisamos fazer nossa parte, temos que nos ajudar. Vemos isso muito bem na leitura bíblica, quando lemos sobre a reconstrução dos muros de Jerusalém. Todo mundo estava trabalhando, com a mão na massa. Não tinha essa de “Ah! Eu não posso porque eu tenho isso, ou aquilo.” Não! Até os guardas trabalhavam: uma mão na arma e a outra na massa. Esdras é um exemplo de um grande trabalhador, que não se contentava com a mediocridade, não se contentava em ficar parado.
Existem pessoas que têm medo de trabalhar, de se mexer. Não sei como não têm medo de morrer ou de passar dificuldade! E tem gente que fica se autoflagelando: “Ah, eu estou fatigado!”; “Ah, eu não posso, porque não consigo!”; “Ah, estou cansado!” Cansado? Deixe-me dizer-lhe algo: você vai ter tempo suficiente para descansar quando estiver morto. Já percebeu que somos cheios de truques para evitar o trabalho, mas, na realidade, dispomos de pouco ócio autêntico? Sabe por quê? É porque o ócio autêntico não existe. Não se esqueça: as únicas coisas que podem evoluir sozinhas são a desordem, os conflitos, o baixo desempenho e a falta de sucesso.
Então, está precisando de ajuda? Aperte o botão do socorro. Vá fazer sua leitura bíblica de hoje. Siga o exemplo de Esdras, arregaçando as mangas. Não espere que as coisas caiam do céu.
