|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

|Lamentações 2:2|
Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

|Lamentações 2:5|
The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

|Lamentações 2:6|
He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

|Lamentações 2:9|
Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

Daniel 01-03
Nabucodonosor estava de olhos estatelados para ouvir a revelação sobre seu sonho. E o mais fascinante era que Daniel não diria somente o significado do sonho, mas também revelaria ao rei o que ele havia sonhado e esquecido. Por isso, ele podia confiar.
Nabucodonosor ficou sem fôlego, curioso para saber o significado. Só mesmo Deus poderia revelar ao rei aquilo que ele havia sonhado! E você, quer conhecer a definição do sonho?
A própria Bíblia explica. A cabeça de ouro era Babilônia. Dali, Nabucodonosor dominou o mundo de 605 a 539 a.C. Mas Babilônia não duraria para sempre. Ela seria derrotada por outro poder, simbolizado pelo peito e braços de prata, que eram os medos e os persas, que conquistaram Babilônia em 539 a.C e governou o mundo até 331 a.C.
A próxima parte da estátua, o ventre, era de um metal ainda inferior: o bronze. O domínio da Grécia, usando armamentos de bronze, entrou em cena. Alexandre o Grande, rei da Grécia, aos 33 anos de idade, liderou os gregos para conquistar os medo-persas na Batalha de Arbela em 331 a.C.
Mas, em menos de dois séculos...
O reino que seguiu a Grécia foi o poderio de ferro de Roma, o qual dominou o mundo desde 168 a.C e, por fim, caiu em seu poder. A divisão do império ocorreu desde 351 até 476 d.C., quando Rômulo Augusto, o último imperador romano, foi deposto pelos hérulos. Desde então, nunca mais se levantou outro duradouro império universal.
É como está escrito: “Mas como o ferro e o barro não se unem, assim também esses reinos não ficarão unidos (Daniel 2:43 – BLH)”. A história mostra os casamentos entre famílias reais. Na Primeira Guerra Mundial, quase todos os reis da Europa eram parentes. A rainha Vitória da Inglaterra era chamada a “avó da Europa”. Os reis da Espanha e da Inglaterra, o czar da Rússia e o kaiser da Alemanha eram todos parentes. Nessa guerra, sobrinhos, tios e avós brigaram entre si. Caíram os reinos, e a monarquia deu lugar à república.
Profecia cumprida! Nessa passagem, a Palavra de Deus é clara. Sete palavras – assim também esses reinos não ficarão unidos – têm detido cada pretendente a conquistador da Europa no decorrer dos séculos. Alguns governantes tentaram unir politicamente as nações da Europa: Carlos Magno, Luís XIV e Napoleão Bonaparte da França; Carlos V da Espanha; Guilherme II e Adolfo Hitler da Alemanha, etc. Mas não conseguiram, pois a sentença da profecia era clara e exata. O destino da história está sob o controle de Deus.
