“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

SALMOS 135-139
Sabe por que na leitura de hoje tem tantos salmos de louvor para depois terminar com um salmo científico? Para começar a responder, quero lhe mostrar o resultado de duas pesquisas feitas com cientistas a respeito de suas crenças religiosas (Perspective Digest - ano 2001, vol. 6, nº. 3):

Depois de 80 anos, a crença dos cientistas não mudou porque, na natureza, há evidências da existência do Criador! Por isso, Einstein falava que “a ciência sem a religião é manca; e a religião sem a ciência é cega”. Deus deseja que a ciência seja uma ferramenta útil para mostrar que Ele é o Criador. Como Ele é um Ser e não simples matéria ou fórmula, Sua existência é provada pelos humanos através da experiência pessoal, no relacionamento com Ele. Nem todos têm essa coragem. Dessa forma, ao longo do tempo, sempre existem crentes e céticos.
Mas os criacionistas são a grande maioria. Muito mais da metade da população acredita que fomos feitos por Deus. Por que, após mais de um século de pregação, tão poucos sigam a doutrina evolucionista? Para Ariel Roth, cientista cristão, o problema é que “muitos acham difícil acreditar que o homem e todas as complexas formas de vida ao seu redor, juntamente com a Terra e um Universo que tão adequadamente os sustentam, se tornaram organizados por si mesmos.”
É muito ilógico olhar para um sistema de complexidade irredutível, como por exemplo, o olho, e não esperar que alguém o tenha planejado (Michael J. Behe, A Caixa Preta de Darwin - Editora Jorge Zahar). Isso tem sido motivo de discussão por dois séculos. A questão da origem do olho não é tida como um tópico favorito de discussão, por vários evolucionistas (Pierre P. Grassé, Evolution of Living Organisms: Evidence for a New Theory of Transformation - Nova York, San Francisco e Londres: Academic Press - 105). Até Darwin, ciente desse problema, confessou seu desespero numa carta que escreveu a Asa Grey, em 3 de abril de 1860, que diz: “Só de pensar no olho, tenho calafrios”. “Tipos altamente complexos de olhos como os nossos são um assombro de partes coordenadas que operam em conjunto para que possamos ver” (Ariel A. Roth, Origens, Tatuí, SP: Casa Publicadora Brasileira, 2001, 29-30). “Eu te louvo porque me fizeste de modo especial e admirável. Tuas obras são maravilhosas! Digo isso com convicção” (Salmo 139:14).
