|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

|Lamentações 2:2|
Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

|Lamentações 2:5|
The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

Você acredita em anjos? A leitura de hoje apresenta uma história impressionante sobre a atuação de um anjo enviado pelo Senhor. Os anjos são mensageiros de Deus que aparecem de acordo com a determinação divina para transmitir a palavra de Deus referente à revelação, livramento ou julgamento.
Na história bíblica, várias vezes, um anjo do Senhor agiu. Um anjo apareceu a Agar dizendo que ela deveria voltar para Sara; outro anunciou aos israelitas o julgamento contra o povo de Deus por causa da sua desobediência; um anjo comissionou a Gideão a destruição da idolatria da casa de seu pai; foi um anjo que contou para a mãe de Sansão o nascimento e o ministério dele; e foi também um anjo que anunciou a Zacarias que ele iria ser o pai do João Batista.
Mas se você pensa que os anjos só executavam atividades importantes nos tempos bíblicos, você está enganado.
Aos quatro anos, o pequeno Henry precisava fazer uma cirurgia delicada. Ele sofria de uma doença cardíaca grave. Embora tão pequeno, o garoto estava tranquilo, pois sabia que Jesus estava com ele. Durante sete horas, os médicos ficaram com o coração de Henry nas mãos enquanto seu corpo estava resfriado. Terminou a cirurgia e seu coração voltou a funcionar. Esse foi o milagre da ciência.
Dois anos depois, ele apresentou outro problema e que também necessitaria de cirurgia: um tumor nos ouvidos. Os pais estavam desesperados por necessitar de mais uma cirurgia em tão pouco tempo. No momento da cirurgia, a mãe estava no hospital e o pai na cidade. A mãe, preocupada pela demora da cirurgia, resolveu descer até a recepção para tentar ligar para o pai do menino e avisar a recepcionista que poderia deixá-lo entrar quando chegasse. A recepcionista disse: "Sim, não há problema. O avô do Henry já subiu também." A mãe levou um susto, pois nenhum dos avós sabia da cirurgia e todos moravam longe. A moça da recepção disse que o avô falou que precisava assistir a cirurgia. A operação teve muitas complicações, mas o médico conseguiu executá-la com sucesso. Assim que o médico veio falar com a família, a mãe perguntou se tinha alguém estranho na sala cirúrgica. "Ninguém, só a equipe médica", ele respondeu. Os pais de Henry não têm dúvidas de que aquele estranho era um anjo que veio auxiliar o médico (Anjos – Sesóstris César Souza). Henry é um jovem saudável de, aproximadamente, 25 anos.
A última tarefa que os anjos efetuarão por aqui será recolher os salvos na hora da primeira ressurreição. Os anjos ajuntarão os escolhidos (Mateus 24:31). Assim, estará concluída a tarefa dos anjos neste mundo.
