|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

|Lamentações 2:2|
Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

|Lamentações 2:5|
The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

|Lamentações 2:6|
He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

QUER RESPEITO?

Você quer ser uma pessoa respeitada? Então, quero lhe apresentar algo muito interessante que descobri na leitura bíblica de hoje. Existe um verso bíblico memorável, que muitos cristãos gostam de falar de cor: “Tenham fé no Senhor, o seu Deus, e vocês serão sustentados; tenham fé nos profetas do Senhor, e terão a vitória.” Você sabe onde está escrito esse verso? Imagino que você deve estar pensando: “Na leitura de hoje!” Se sim, quero dizer que sua resposta está redondamente errada! Está em 2Crônicas 20:20, mais de 70 páginas à frente da nossa leitura atual. Só o leremos no dia 15 de maio.
“Ué, pastor,” - você deve estar pensando - “mas por que, então, ler esse texto hoje?”
É o seguinte: o rei Josafá, que foi um rei muito respeitado, do reino de Judá, que ficava ao sul da Palestina, sempre é lembrado por causa desse verso, que são as palavras dele, quando ganhou a guerra contra os moabitas, amonitas e meunitas, usando a estratégia do louvor (ver 2Crônicas 20). Muitos só se lembram de Josafá ali, porque ele acreditou em um homem que profetizou naquele dia.
Perceba que Josafá também apareceu na leitura de ontem, quando subiu do sul para o norte para ajudar o rei Acabe a lutar numa guerra. Na leitura de hoje, mais uma vez, vemos Josafá subindo para ajudar o rei do Norte, o rei de Israel. Só que o rei, agora, era o filho de Acabe, Jorão. Em 2Reis 2 e 3, o rei Josafá aparece numa guerra, também, contra os moabitas. Mas o interessante é que do mesmo jeito que em 2Crônicas 20 fala que Josafá deu ouvidos a um profeta de Deus, no final de 1Reis, fala que quando Acabe queria guerrear contra Ramote-Gileade, Josafá fez questão de que antes consultasse um profeta do Senhor. Novamente, da mesma forma, em 2Reis 3:11, Josafá faz a célebre pergunta: “Será que não há aqui um profeta do Senhor para que possamos consultar o Senhor por meio dele?”
Grande Josafá! Esse personagem deveria ser mais lembrado, explorado, estudado, porque ele é um exemplo para nós. Embora não sendo tão lembrado, veja o que Eliseu falou ao perverso Jorão sobre Josafá: Jorão, eu juro, “pelo nome do Senhor, que se não fosse por respeito a Josafá, rei de Judá”... Não continuarei lendo. Esse é o destaque. Josafá foi alguém muito respeitado porque sempre procurou pautar sua vida, seguindo os conselhos dos profetas. Você quer ser alguém respeitado?
