|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

|Lamentações 2:2|
Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

|Lamentações 2:5|
The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

|Lamentações 2:6|
He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

Jeremias 04-06
O povo de Judá recebeu o anúncio de que seriam invadidos por uma nação estrangeira (Jeremias 04). Eles não tinham escolha. Ou passavam por uma profunda conversão, aqui simbolizada pela circuncisão do coração, ou então a ira divina iria abater-se sobre a nação inteira, como um fogo ardente. E como não havia sinal de arrependimento que fosse realmente genuíno, então o castigo que estava para vir é pintado em cores cada vez mais carregadas, onde Jeremias expressa a dor que lhe vai à alma, diante do sofrimento do seu povo. É de chorar.
É de chorar ao ver o quanto as pessoas sofrem quando o pecado toma conta da situação. Como sofremos! Aqui, ao referir-me a pecado, não estou falando apenas de ações. Eu sei que as pessoas erram, que as pessoas pecam. Mas falo do contexto de pecado presente no mundo, o que poderíamos chamar de “o reino do pecado”. A situação de pecado na qual o mundo se encontra faz as pessoas sofrerem muito. E para amenizar um pouquinho, é necessário que substituamos as más ações por boas ações. Mas, apesar de ajudar, isso não resolve tudo. Somente Deus pode resolver tudo.
Enquanto Jeremias 4 salienta a enormidade do castigo que estava prestes a cair sobre o povo de Judá, o capítulo cinco põe o acento sobre a apostasia que estava reinante por ali, que justificava a própria punição que estava sendo anunciada. Isso faz lembrar Diógenes. Ele percorria as ruas de Atenas com uma lanterna acessa em plena luz do dia à procura de um homem honesto. Com Jeremias também não foi muito diferente. Ele deveria dar voltas às ruas de Jerusalém, à procura de um homem íntegro. Provavelmente Jeremias não tenha encontrado um homem íntegro, sequer.
O mesmo pode acontecer hoje: peneirar a sociedade toda e não ficar ninguém aprovado, nem no caráter nem na integridade. Mas você pode trabalhar para que isso não aconteça. Sabe como? Com sua própria vida. Se você for integro, pelo menos você não vai ser peneirado. Ou, talvez, trazendo aqui para a figura usada no capítulo seis, quando o fole bufar e o fogo subir, que você seja achado como o metal precioso que não vira refugo. Ainda quer saber como? Leia Jeremias 04 a 06, e você vai descobrir. Tenho certeza de que você não deixará de ler. Esses capítulos são unidos pelo mesmo tema da apostasia e da punição, devendo assim servir-nos de grande advertência. Lendo-os, você pode ouvir, do Espírito Santo, sobre qual é o caminho certo que você deve seguir nesta vida incerta. Faça bom proveito dos mesmos, enquanto há tempo hábil para isto.
