|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

|Lamentações 2:2|
Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

|Lamentações 2:4|
Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

|Lamentações 2:5|
The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

|Lamentações 2:6|
He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

|Lamentações 2:7|
The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

|Lamentações 2:8|
The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

|Lamentações 2:9|
Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

|Lamentações 2:10|
The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

O MELHOR DE DEUS AINDA ESTÁ POR VIR
Romanos 11-13
Deus tem lhe abençoado? Você acredita que Ele pode dar-lhe uma benção especial a partir de Romanos 11-13? A leitura bíblica de hoje começa assim:
“Pergunto, pois: Acaso Deus rejeitou o seu povo? De maneira nenhuma! Eu mesmo sou israelita, descendente de Abraão, da tribo de Benjamim. Deus não rejeitou o seu povo, o qual de antemão conheceu. Ou vocês não sabem como Elias clamou a Deus contra Israel, conforme diz a Escritura? “Senhor, mataram os teus profetas e derrubaram os teus altares; sou o único que sobrou, e agora estão procurando matar-me.” E qual foi a resposta divina? “Reservei para mim sete mil homens que não dobraram os joelhos diante de Baal.” Assim, hoje também há um remanescente escolhido pela graça. E, se é pela graça, já não é mais pelas obras; se fosse, a graça já não seria graça.”
Mais adiante, apenas pulando para o próximo capítulo, lemos:
“Portanto, irmãos, rogo-lhes pelas misericórdias de Deus que se ofereçam em sacrifício vivo, santo e agradável a Deus; este é o culto racional de vocês. Não se amoldem ao padrão deste mundo, mas transformem-se pela renovação da sua mente, para que sejam capazes de experimentar e comprovar a boa, agradável e perfeita vontade de Deus.”
E no capítulo seguinte, chegamos à conclusão do trecho bíblico proposto para este dia:
“Não devam nada a ninguém, a não ser o amor de uns pelos outros, pois aquele que ama seu próximo tem cumprido a Lei. Pois estes mandamentos: “Não adulterarás”, “Não matarás”, “Não furtarás”, “Não cobiçarás”, e qualquer outro mandamento, todos se resumem neste preceito: “Ame seu próximo como a si mesmo”. O amor não pratica o mal contra o próximo. Portanto, o amor é o cumprimento da Lei. Façam isso, compreendendo o tempo em que vivemos. Chegou a hora de vocês despertarem do sono, porque agora a nossa salvação está mais próxima do que quando cremos. A noite está quase acabando; o dia logo vem. Portanto, deixemos de lado as obras das trevas e revistamo-nos da armadura da luz. Comportemo-nos com decência, como quem age à luz do dia, não em orgias e bebedeiras, não em imoralidade sexual e depravação, não em desavença e inveja. Ao contrário, revistam-se do Senhor Jesus Cristo, e não fiquem premeditando como satisfazer os desejos da natureza pecaminosa”.
