|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

|Lamentações 2:2|
Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

AMOROSO E ÚTIL
Filemom
Quem foi Filemon? Foi um cristão convertido pela pregação de Paulo e em cuja casa havia uma igreja. Da mesma raiz de Fileo (amor) a palavra “Filemom” significa “amoroso”. Ele foi um habitante da cidade de Colosso e, aparentemente, alguém com uma boa reputação entre os cidadãos daquela cidade (Cl 4:9; Fm 1:2). Depois de entrar em contato com o Evangelho através do apóstolo dos gentios (19), ocupou um lugar proeminente na comunidade cristã pela sua piedade e beneficência (4-7). É mencionado na sua epístola como “nosso cooperador” e, por isso, terá ocupado um qualquer cargo na igreja de Colosso; seja como for, o título demonstra que ele tomou parte na obra de propagação do Evangelho. Filemom era o dono (ou, patrão) de Onésimo.
Quem foi Onésimo? A palavra “Onésimo” significa “útil”. Ele foi um escravo que, depois de roubar o seu senhor Filémon, em Colosso, fugiu para Roma, onde foi convertido por Paulo. Este enviou-o de volta ao seu senhor com a epístola que tem o seu nome. Aí ele pede a Filémon que receba o seu escravo como a um “irmão fiel e amado”. Paulo oferece-se para pagar a Filémon tudo o que o seu servo lhe roubara e a carregar sobre si o mal que ele lhe fizera. Ao regressar, Onésimo foi acompanhado por Tíquico, que era quem levava a epístola para os colossensses (Fm 1:16, 18).
Para o teólogo William Barclay, “a Carta a Filemom é extraordinária devido ao fato de que nela vemos a grandiosa imagem de Paulo pedindo um favor. Nenhum homem pediu menos favores que Paulo, mas nesta Carta pede um, nem tanto para si mesmo, senão para Onésimo, que tinha tomado um caminho equivocado e a quem Paulo estava ajudando a encontrar o caminho de retorno”.
Recapitulando e resumindo, Filemom era um colossense de certa notoriedade e riqueza, convertido durante o ministério de Paulo. Onésimo era o escravo de Filemom que havia fugido de seu Senhor, indo para Roma onde converteu-se à fé cristã por meio de Paulo. Este o manteve consigo, até que sua conduta demonstrou a sinceridade de sua conversão. Desejando reparar o dano que havia infligido, temendo o merecido castigo por sua ofensa, pediu ao apóstolo que escrevesse a Filemom. Paulo não parece argumentar em qualquer outra passagem com maior beleza, ou exortar com mais força do que nesta carta.
A história deste escravo colossensse fugitivo é uma prova notável da facilidade com que se acedia à presença do prisioneiro, acesso esse que estava garantido a todos e “uma bela ilustração tanto do caráter de Paulo como do poder transformador e dos princípios justos do Evangelho.
