|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

|Lamentações 2:2|
Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

|Lamentações 2:5|
The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

Êxodo 32-33
Já pensou se quando um jogador mudasse de time, ele também mudasse sua ideologia? Imagine se quando ele mudasse de time, também virasse a cabeça, pensando mais ou menos assim: “Até aqui, fui jogador do time x, com o ideal de ganhar os jogos; de hoje em diante, já que vou para o time y, meu ideal será perder os jogos.” Se um jogador agisse assim, todos pensariam que ele estava ficando louco.
De uma forma um pouco mais velada, nós, brasileiros, tivemos a vergonhosa representação de um piloto da Fórmula1 que fez exatamente isso. Você lembra? Ele segurou a fila, perdeu a oportunidade de chegar em primeiro lugar e erguer a bandeira brasileira apenas para ganhar seu ordenado. Seguiu as orientações da Ferrari, que tinha outro preferido e deveria ser sempre o campeão. Era uma vergonha! Outros pilotos brasileiros sempre foram respeitados, mas ele foi motivo de chacotas.
Na Bíblia, encontramos algumas pessoas agindo de forma semelhante. Só porque saíram do Egito, resolveram trocar de Deus (Êxodo 32) e acabaram se dando muito mal. Nunca devemos confundir trocar de time com trocar de ideal.
Bem diferente disso, aconteceu com George Herman “Babe” Ruth, o cara mais importante da liga de beisebol. Ele sempre fazia seu time ganhar. Em 1919, chegou a fazer 29 “home runs” em 17 jogos. Porém, um indivíduo chamado Harry Frazee, que era o dono do Boston Red Sox, só porque estava precisando de dinheiro para financiar uma peça da Broadway, vendeu o grande jogador “Babe” Ruth por míseros 125 mil dólares. Parece que é muito dinheiro, mas o que o pé frio do Harry fez foi realmente congelar o time dele, que ficou sem ganhar um campeonato pelos próximos 84 anos. O Babe, que foi vendido para o Yankees, os levou à vitória em sete campeonatos americanos e quatro mundiais. O time Red Sox só conseguiu ser campeão em 2004. Custou caro!
Curiosamente, foi também no final de 2004 que deixei de trabalhar na educação, como um ministério, para trabalhar na comunicação. Mas, com um detalhe bem importante: minha missão continua a mesma: ir aonde Deus mandar, levando o evangelho dEle. E aqui estou no meu trabalho, fazendo o comentário sobre um povo que, por mudar de circunstância, erradamente mudou de princípios. É certo que Deus não concorda com isso (Êxodo 33), tanto que chamou aquele povo para colocar tudo em “pratos limpos”.
Não perca o foco da sua vida cristã, ainda que o mundo ao seu redor mude radicalmente. E, se por acaso, isso começar acontecer, pare, sente-se e reescreva sua declaração de missão que você tem como filho de Deus.
