“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

|Lamentações 2:2|
Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

E aí? Como está seu coração? E o que você tem no seu coração? Sabe que muito da sua conduta, sucesso, erros, é determinado por aquilo que está no seu coração? Isso não significa que o coração deve nos dominar, afinal essa ideia de que é o coração que nos domina é uma teoria que tem muita coisa maléfica. Ao dizer que muitas coisas determinam o que vai em seu coração, refiro-me ao fato de você mesmo escolher o que coloca no seu coração ou o que seus educadores colocaram no seu coração infantil. Por isso, sempre digo que devemos tomar cuidado com o que plantamos no coração das nossas crianças.
Nossa leitura de hoje nos mostra sobre como podem existir coisas tão diferentes no coração de pessoas que convivem no mesmo espaço e determinam o destino das pessoas. Perceba que o povo de Israel tinha um desejo no coração: eles queriam um rei. Porém, isso ia diretamente contra uma orientação anterior do Senhor de que eles não deveriam ter um rei humano, porque o Rei deles era o Deus de Israel.
Quando os israelitas foram falar com Samuel, que era o pastor deles, ele tinha outra coisa no coração, algo que era totalmente o contrário do que eles pensavam. E aí? E agora? Quem estava certo? Por incrível que pareça, contra o pensamento da maioria, aliás, contra o pensamento de todos, quem estava certo era Samuel. Tanto é que se você continuar lendo a história em 1Samuel 8-9, observará que o que estava no coração de Deus era o mesmo que estava no coração de Samuel.
Veja aonde a história foi parar. Samuel não só disse ao povo que eles estavam com um desejo errado, mas mostrou todas as consequências do que aconteceria se eles alimentassem esse desejo no coração deles. Diante disso, aí que o povo se firmou na decisão errada. Por escolha própria, fria e racional, eles se obstinaram com o desejo errado do coração deles. Quando você ler a história do rei Saul, verá como Samuel estava tão certo daquilo que, a princípio, era aparentemente só uma intuição.
Você quer saber por que Samuel teve esse diferencial? Simplesmente porque Samuel era alguém que, anteriormente, já tinha o hábito de sempre procurar ouvir a voz de Deus. Quando você chega na encruzilhada não é hora de adquirir o mapa-guia da rota da viagem. Mas se procurar se preparar de maneira espiritual antes, na hora da crise, saberá definir entre o que é certo e o que é errado.
Invista na sua devoção para não tomar alguma decisão precipitada em momentos de crise!
