|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

|Lamentações 2:2|
Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

|Lamentações 2:4|
Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

|Lamentações 2:5|
The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

|Lamentações 2:6|
He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

|Lamentações 2:7|
The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

|Lamentações 2:9|
Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

ABRAÃO ERA OBEDIENTE
Gênesis 16-19
A leitura bíblica de hoje segue falando do grande herói da fé: Abraão.
Lá em casa, temos um DVD sobre a Bíblia cantada. Ele foi gravado pela Alessandra Samadelo, onde ela conta e canta as primeiras histórias bíblicas de Gênesis. Mas o musical é tão lindinho, que deixa até os adultos encantados, embora o material seja feito especificamente para as crianças. Preciso confessar que mesmo sem ter crianças, minha esposa e eu quase afundamos as faixas daquele DVD de tanto assistir. Sabe qual é a parte que eu mais gosto? A que conta a história de Abraão. A música sobre ele é muito linda, a animação gráfica dele viajando pelo mundo é fantástica e, muito melhor, muito mais inspiradora ainda, é a própria história de Abraão. Portanto, penso que você não ficará cansado de ler sobre esse herói durante alguns dias, afinal, ninguém cansa de um paizão, né?
A palavra Abrão significa “o pai é exaltado”. Mas ele recebeu um novo nome. Abraão significa “o pai de uma multidão” ou “pai de muitas nações”. A mudança de enfoque do seu nome deve-se à sua futura descendência de reis e nações. Natural de Ur dos Caldeus, “o pai da fé” era casado com uma mulher chamada Sarai, que depois teve o nome mudado para Sara. Esse nome significa “princesa”. Não quero invejar de ninguém, mas esse é o nome que a Fátima e eu escolhemos para nossa futura filha. Sara, na realidade, era a princesa de Abraão. O novo nome de Sarai é parte do novo relacionamento da aliança entre ela e Deus. E essa mudança reforça a dignidade da ocasião em que o Senhor declarou abertamente que Sara tomaria parte na aliança.
Certo dia, Abraão juntou toda a sua família e a família do seu sobrinho e foram embora da sua terra natal para um lugar chamado Harã. Foi nesse lugar, que seu pai, chamado Terá, morreu. Depois disso, Deus chamou a Abraão e lhe deu uma ordem. Ele deveria viajar para Canaã com a promessa de que, dali daquela cidade, ele seria o pai de uma grande nação. E Abraão obedeceu. Creio que a palavra “obediência” é uma das palavras que melhor pode representar a pessoa, o caráter de Abraão. É uma marca registrada que ele deixa como inspiração.
Porém, isso não significa que ele nunca tenha falhado. O obediente também tem suas falhas. A caminhada cristã não é fácil para ninguém, e Deus também entende essa nossa limitação. Mas o importante é não nos conformarmos e seguirmos tentando fazer o nosso melhor para acertar.
