“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

The elders of the Daughter of Zion sit on the ground in silence; they have sprinkled dust on their heads and put on sackcloth. The young women of Jerusalem have bowed their heads to the ground.

O VISIONÁRIO
Neemias 01-04
Frank Holbrook foi um grande líder. Dentre várias outras coisas que ele liderou, foi diretor de um instituto de pesquisas bíblicas, nos Estados Unidos. Holbrook escreveu um comentário bíblico sobre os livros de Esdras e Neemias, além de liderar um estudo mundial sobre esses dois livros, de outubro a dezembro de 1993. O manual para os estudos foi impresso na Casa Publicadora Brasileira e tinha como título: “Esdras e Neemias, Edificadores para Deus”.
Achei interessante que esse grande líder, na página 77, ao introduzir seus comentários ao livro de Neemias, escreve falando justamente sobre a visão de um líder. E parece um contrassenso, porque ao mesmo tempo em que ele questiona sobre a importância que os dirigentes sejam pessoas de visão, destaca Neemias 2:12, que tem uma declaração do líder Neemias: “Não declarei a ninguém o que o meu Deus me pusera no coração para eu fazer em Jerusalém”. Interessante, não é? Alguém que é de visão, mas ao mesmo tempo parece não ser.
Como um líder na causa de Deus pode aprender a compreender a vontade do Senhor tanto para ele, como dirigente, quanto para aqueles a quem lidera? E como ainda conseguir transmitir essa visão de forma equilibrada? Você já conheceu algum líder que era impelido por uma visão?
William Steger, um homem de 45 anos, tinha um sonho. Para tentar realizá-lo, ele e Jean-Louis Etienne formaram um equipe que percorreria toda a Antártida. A princípio, eles foram detidos por uma tempestade que durou 60 dias, com ventos de até 160 quilômetros por hora e temperaturas muito abaixo de zero. Então, o grupo de cinco pessoas foi deixando para trás as diversas partes do trajeto de 6400 quilômetros, mas bem devagar, pouco a pouco. Até que no dia 20 de fevereiro de 1990, aqueles homens, com seus trenós e quarenta cães, começaram a percorrer o último trecho da travessia. O objetivo deles era chamar a atenção do povo para a fragilidade ambiental da Antártida e para a necessidade de cooperação mundial para protegê-la. Esse objetivo, essa visão, conseguiu erguê-los acima das adversidades que tiveram de suportar durante aqueles seis meses e meio.
Você percebe como um sonho pode fazer um ser humano galgar alturas? Da mesma forma que Steger se comportou naquela expedição, todos os bons dirigentes são visionários. Ele veem uma necessidade, formam um propósito e inspiram outros para que o ajudem a cumprir a visão. Neemias, o personagem de hoje, era um patriota hebreu com uma visão. Ele conseguiu visualizar-se libertando o povo de Deus dos inimigos e fazendo uma reforma espiritual.
