“People have heard my groaning, but there is no-one to comfort me. All my enemies have heard of my distress; they rejoice at what you have done. May you bring the day you have announced so that they may become like me.

|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

|Lamentações 2:3|
In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

|Lamentações 2:6|
He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

UM SENTIDO DESTA VIDA
Eclesiastes 05-08
E aí, muito dinheiro no bolso? Quem tem muito dinheiro no bolso, nos dias atuais? Quase ninguém! Falando em dinheiro, Eclesiastes 5 fala justamente do problema que o dinheiro pode chegar a ser. Lembro de um conselho que li: “Tudo que afaste de Deus o coração tem de ser renunciado. Mamom é o ídolo de muitos. O amor do dinheiro, a ambição da fortuna, é a cadeia de ouro que os liga a Satanás. Fama e honras mundanas são idolatradas por outros. Uma vida de comodidade egoísta, isenta de responsabilidade, constitui o ídolo de outros. Mas estas cadeias escravizadoras têm de ser partidas. Não podemos pertencer metade ao Senhor e metade ao mundo. Não somos filhos de Deus a menos que o sejamos totalmente” (Caminho a Cristo, 44). Precisamos tomar cuidado para que o dinheiro não seja nosso deus.
Lendo Eclesiastes 6, encontramos uma reflexão sobre “correr atrás do vento”. Perceba que não é necessário grande educação da mente para entender que, neste mundo, não existe satisfação real e duradoura. Nossos prazeres são apenas vaidade; nossos males são infinitos; a morte, que nos ameaça a cada momento, dentro de alguns anos deve nos colocar infalivelmente sob as terríveis alternativas de sermos aniquilados ou felizes, para sempre. É aí que vem a necessidade de ter esperança. Blaise Pascal (francês do século XVII - filósofo, religioso, físico e matemático) escreveu sobre isso: “Não existe nada mais real que isto, nada mais terrível. Por mais heróicos que sejamos, este é o fim que aguarda a vida mais nobre do mundo. Vamos refletir nisto e, então, dizer se não é indiscutível que não existe bem nesta vida. A não ser a esperança de outra; que somos felizes apenas na proporção em que nos aproximamos dela; e que, como não existem mais aflições para os que têm plena certeza da eternidade, não existe mais felicidade para os que não têm essa esperança.”
Eclesiastes 7 também levanta questões sobre o sentido da vida. Se compararmos esse livro com o todo da Bíblia, temos que admitir que as respostas certas só podem ser encontradas no Deus que nos criou, nos dá a redenção e, desse modo, nos dá o significado e o propósito que tanta gente busca por aí, muitas vezes em lugares fúteis, que não satisfazem os anseios da alma.
E isso faz mais sentido, se lermos Eclesiastes 8:12. Salomão faz questão de mostrar uma fina compreensão sobre a justiça e o juízo final. Resumindo: não importa qual mal vão as coisas neste mundo, a justiça final de Deus será executada. Esteja certo disso, mesmo que precise esperar. Deus vê tudo!
