“People have heard my groaning, but there is no-one to comfort me. All my enemies have heard of my distress; they rejoice at what you have done. May you bring the day you have announced so that they may become like me.

“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

|Lamentações 2:6|
He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

UMA MULHER PODE SER...
1Reis 11-12
Assim que criei o meu perfil de Orkut, o meu espaço pessoal na internet, criei um álbum de fotos intitulado: “Minhas Três Mulheres” – as três mulheres da minha vida. Nessa época, eu ainda não era pai, então, as três pessoas mais chegadas a mim eram a minha mãe, esposa e irmã, todas mulheres. E o interessante foi que assim que minha esposa ficou grávida, e não sabíamos ainda o sexo do bebê, comecei a pensar: será que é menina? Se for, como ficarei dentro dessa casa, sozinho, como homem? Daí comecei a imaginar o possível aumento populacional feminino da minha família e como elas estavam predominando no meu mundo. Minha esposa, minha mãe, minha irmã, e agora minha filha? Mas eu escapei por pouco e, para meu filho, pude criar o álbum do garotão no meu Orkut.
Mulheres, mulheres, vocês hein? Podemos até pensar na possibilidade da existência de alguém do sexo feminino sem presença masculina, mas o contrário não tem como. É impossível a existência de alguém do sexo masculino sem a presença feminina na sua vida, porque já nascemos de uma mulher. E as mulheres estão presentes na nossa vida de várias formas diferentes. É a mãe, são as irmãs, é a namorada, a esposa, as filhas, as tias, avós, amigas, primas, colegas, vizinhas, e o encanto não termina. E olha, para você que é mulher, digo que a vida sem vocês, além de ser impossível, seria algo terrível. Já estudei em salas de aula onde não havia uma única mulher. Que horror! Você, mulher, é um grande presente de Deus.
Agora, quero falar para você que é macho. Cuidado com essa masculinidade, viu? Assim como a mulher (ou mulheres) pode ser uma bênção na sua vida, também pode ser a maior fonte de maldição, originadora das suas ruínas e desgraças pessoais. Duvida disso? Veja o personagem da leitura de hoje. Salomão nasceu de uma mulher chamada Bate-Seba, uma rainha. Ele tinha irmãs. Quis casar com uma mulher importada do Egito, filha do Faraó. Começou casando errado, com uma mulher que Deus não recomendaria. No começo de 1Reis 11 tem a descrição das mulheres da vida de Salomão, só para descambar para o fim do capítulo e mostrar como as mulheres foram uma maldição na vida dele. As consequências terríveis continuam no capítulo 12.
Compensa seguir os conselhos de Deus de que devemos nos casar com alguém que não seja um jugo desigual, sermos casados apenas com uma pessoa e fiéis a esse casamento por toda a vida. Isso sim será uma bênção divina, dada pela presença feminina que pode encantar o viver.
