“People have heard my groaning, but there is no-one to comfort me. All my enemies have heard of my distress; they rejoice at what you have done. May you bring the day you have announced so that they may become like me.

|Lamentações 2:1|
“Let all their wickedness come before you; deal with them as you have dealt with me because of all my sins. My groans are many and my heart is faint.” [This chapter is an acrostic poem, the verses of which begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.] How the Lord has covered the Daughter of Zion with the cloud of his anger! [Or How the LORD in his anger has treated the Daughter of Zion with contempt!] He has hurled down the splendour of Israel from heaven to earth; he has not remembered his footstool in the day of his anger.

Without pity the Lord has swallowed up all the dwellings of Jacob; in his wrath he has torn down the strongholds of the Daughter of Judah. He has brought her kingdom and its princes down to the ground in dishonour.

In fierce anger he has cut off every horn [Or all the strength; or every king; horn here symbolises strength.] of Israel. He has withdrawn his right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.

Like an enemy he has strung his bow; his right hand is ready. Like a foe he has slain all who were pleasing to the eye; he has poured out his wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of Zion.

The Lord is like an enemy; he has swallowed up Israel. He has swallowed up all her palaces and destroyed her strongholds. He has multiplied mourning and lamentation for the Daughter of Judah.

|Lamentações 2:6|
He has laid waste his dwelling like a garden; he has destroyed his place of meeting. The LORD has made Zion forget her appointed feasts and her Sabbaths; in his fierce anger he has spurned both king and priest.

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has handed over to the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have raised a shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.

The LORD determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away.

Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the LORD.

UM CRISTÃO ANTES DE CRISTO
Amós 05-09
Amós viveu alguns séculos antes de Cristo. O termo “cristão” não existia, obviamente. Não havia seguidores de Cristo. Não se falava em ser semelhante a Jesus. A divindade conhecida pelos judeus era Jeová. Mas, em muitos sentidos, podemos dizer que Amós foi como Cristo. Responda-me: que foi o trabalhador judeu que, vindo do interior e reconhecendo sua origem humilde, usando ilustrações como um dos principais métodos dos seus ensinos e afirmando que sua inspiração era divina, foi acusado de traição ao seu povo, por causa da pressão do dever que recaia sobre ele, enquanto defendia os pobres, acusava os ricos opressores e anunciava o que Deus iria fazer no meio do Seu povo? Jesus? Amós? Percebe o paralelo? Amós, como profeta, em muitos sentidos foi como Cristo.
Em sua ocupação, um trabalhador (Amós 7:14). Ufa! Que bom? Pois se Deus é trabalhador, com certeza, Ele é Deus dos trabalhadores. Inclusive, daqueles que fazem trabalhos humildes, assim como o eram os trabalhos do profeta e do Messias, Amós e Jesus.
Em sua humildade, reconheceu sua origem humilde, (7:15). Muitos têm origens humildes, mas poucos conservam consigo uma humildade que mantenham-lhes a capacidade de reconhecer tal procedência. Pelo contrário, se pudessem, competiriam acirradamente até para ver quem seria o melhor em vencer num concurso de humildade, para receber o troféu de mais humilde. Irônico. E ironicamente também, os mais exaltados e importantes, mensageiros e Enviado de Deus, eram os mais humildes.
Em seu método de ensino por meio de ilustrações. Deus gosta de usar mensageiros com sensibilidade didática. Você gostaria de ser um instrumento do Senhor para levar Sua palavra salvadora a outros? Então, pare e pense: “qual é a sua pedagogia?”. Não é preciso ser formado na faculdade de ensino para alcançar isso. O boiadeiro Amós e o carpinteiro Jesus eram compreensíveis justamente por se permitirem estar, ao mesmo tempo, próximos do povo e de Deus.
Ao afirmar sua inspiração divina. A expressão "Assim diz o Senhor" ocorre quarenta vezes na profecia de Amós. Isso era um jeito muito ousado de comunicar uma mensagem. Jesus também teve a ousadia de identificar-se como o Filho de Deus. Para ter eficácia no testemunho que damos de Deus, precisamos ter consciência do valor que a mensagem que carregamos tem.
E isso, por vezes, tem um alto preço. No caso de Amós, ele assemelhou-se a Jesus ao ser acusado de traição (Amós 7:10; João 19:12), apesar da pressão do dever que tinha sobre si (Amós 3:8; João 9:4). Ser um representante de Deus nem sempre é um lazer prazeroso, mas é sempre compensador.
