the Ammonite nobles said to Hanun their lord, “Do you think David is honouring your father by sending men to you to express sympathy? Hasn’t David sent them to you to explore the city and spy it out and overthrow it?”

So Hanun seized David’s men, shaved off half of each man’s beard, cut off their garments in the middle at the buttocks, and sent them away.

When David was told about this, he sent messengers to meet the men, for they were greatly humiliated. The king said, “Stay at Jericho till your beards have grown, and then come back.”

Reconheço que nosso espaço aqui é limitadíssimo para comentarmos tudo o que é preciso a respeito de tantos significados importantes das profecias do Apocalipse. Se eu fosse resumir a leitura de hoje em poucas palavras, diria que ela representa o fato de que há um grande conflito cósmico acontecendo neste exato momento, com uma influência tão forte em todas as ações humanas, que, em breve, isto culminará num verdadeiro fim de mundo. Falando sério!
Mas não quero deixar-lhe na mão, na busca por um entendimento tão sério. O melhor livro que conheço na ajuda para o entendimento destes mistérios é “O Grande Conflito”, da Casa Publicadora Brasileira (Fone 0800 976 06 06). Esta leitura é um requisito indispensável de sobrevivência espiritual de todos os cristãos que vivem no tempo do fim, porque no grande conflito entre o bem e o mal, a impressão que se tem é a de que o mal está levando a melhor.
